  1. Does your cache really reload - the cache contains low level indicators of the textures to fetch and on a fast system should only take 5 seconds to obtain all textures after logon (especially since using HTTP textures). The cache is stored client side to speed loading of textures, if it is not there it can not load them. Is adjusting the bandwidth in 100 Kb chunks really not sufficient? No, packet loss adjustments require a finer tuning. If not you can set it manually using 'ThrottleBandwidthKBPS' in debug settings. This feature does not hold the settings. I tried that. but I'd rather, like you, that they fixed the big things like antialiasing not working on Macs. Only five percent of home computer users use Macs. Mac users aren't a "big thing". http://marketshare.hitslink.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=8 I think there are a lot of features/bugs fixed that other people really care about as well in this release. I hope your right. https://blogs.secondlife.com/people/Faubio.Alter These are not a list of my personal preferences, These are a list of items that need attention to improve navigation, efficiency, operation and other nagging problems concerning the viewer.
  2. They are listed in priority. Group #1 1. I want a spell checker 2. I want to not have to click in the chat box to start typing after using the cursor in the inventory. 3. The cache reloads every time I log on, stop this. 4. Half the time my money does not show and requires a relog for it to appear. Edit 5. The friends tab should be a button on the bottm of the HUD. Group #2 1. I want to adjust my bandwidth slider more accurately. 2. The x,y,z, coordinated should be viewable by default 3. Stop mini map rotation by default. 4. I would like for all permissions in the build HUD to be independent of each other. 5. I would like to have the LM tab removed in the sidebar. I can get to LMs just fine from inventory. Edit 6. Go directly to "edit outfit" and remove the section containing the "my outfit" and "wearing" tabs. My guess is 10 useless items will be repaired or added before these are fixed. ( I have not used viewer 2.2.) Signed a committee of one Edit addition: (The strategy is simple, it should work before things get added. Focus on making it run well, first.)
  3. Purchasing things on SL is 'buyer beware". Under the doctrine of caveat emptor, the buyer could not recover from the seller for defects on the property that rendered the property unfit for ordinary purposes. The only exception was if the seller actively concealed latent defects or otherwise made material misrepresentations amounting to fraud. From here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buyer_beware Unless you can prove fraud your out of luck. Fraud is a TOS violation and a crime. Note: And yes that definition does not quite fit and that is important. I am not a lawyer nor do I practise law anywhere. (This is common knowledge). It would be best to seek advise from an attorney before accusing someone of fraud. (This is common scene.)
  4. If you haven't already, wait three days at least, for the change to happen.
  5. Reduce your graphic card setting from mid to low or high to mid. In the advanced graphics settings also reduce terrain, objects, particles (250 - 500) and draw distance (90 -110 for draw) with the sliders.
  6. This was a bit vague and ambiguous. OS Version: Microsoft Windows 95 compatibility mode. real ver: 6.0 (Build 2900) The question was asked to be sure.
  7. ????????? Are you using both Windows XP and 95? If just 95 it may not work. See the requirements here: http://secondlife.com/support/system-requirements/ (Wow, Windows 95, I haven't seen anyone reference that OS in a loooooong time. Geez, that came out 15 years ago. Congratulation for keeping it going this long. Well done.)
  8. Your welcome. That method generally works for me though it might take a few attempts. Some times a new file location for the cache is needs. And, thank you, for the kudos. :-) Message was edited by: Faubio.Alter ..................... let me rephrase that. That method "always" works for me. I use no other means of correcting a cloud avatar then clearing the cache.
  9. Try clearing your cache. Path is in viewer 2 is Me > Preferences > setup > reset button, concerning cache, click it then log off then log in.
  10. Yep, I agree, Hairy. :-)
  11. I had this problem once it was a SIM problem. See if people can see it correctly somewhere else , on another SIM. Message was edited by: Faubio.Alter ................... need a place to check it? IM me inworld
  12. You might have better luck with this if you moved it too: http://blogs.secondlife.com/community/commerce/wanted In "edit" this discussion see the "move" option for details and the how-to.

    new viewer

old (preferred) viewer If you mean viewer 1 it has been discontinued and will not work. If you mean a third party viewer then I would suggest you do not jump back and forth between viewers because of inventory/cache problem in doing so. Also Emerald has been banned as a viewer for SL. Do not use Emerald at all.
  14. User hours are down. Less time inworld means users aren't as happy as they were. If they are not here they do not use the services nor do they spend money. The less time they spend in rentals the less useful those rentals become. The money supply chart is unclear. It does not tell what old is measuring compared to new. In either case some numbers massaging has been done or the total volume of SL currency is off my a wide margin over last quarter or last year. It is not surprising Xstreet has continued its upward growth it represents a tiny fraction of all merchandising done inworld. There are still way to many stores empty of buyers and I do not believe this will change anytime soon unless income sources are created for residents inworld. In fact those sources are drying up and along with it the money supply..
  15. No one here has a suitable work around for you except the one given, a different viewer. Only SL itself can help you with the original problem. Make out a new JIRA or vote for the JIRA you are aware of for the problem. You want something that the forums can not provide.
  16. I had a temporary problem with packet loss and tried that suggestion and found it useless. Viewer 2 unlike previous viewers has fixed, non-flexible adjustments (100, 200, 300, It uses whole numbers in increments.) so it can not use this solution effectively if it did work.
  17. ???? You had a problem it is solved so have a good Second Life. Hehehehehehe Of course you could go back to using viewer 2 if you like. :-)
  18. Try one of these. If they do not work it's your connection. http://viewerdirectory.secondlife.com/
  19. Yep, just like the first.
  20. Another job well done by the helpers of SLA. LOL Good luck to you. :-)
  21. These apply if your using version 1 of the viewer (other version 1 based viewers) or Emerald In this order. Try the connection again after each step................. Check the grid status for the time involved http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ Make sure your Ethernet adapted driver is up to date. For wired connections for modems only: Disconnect all wires concerning your connection, wait 30 seconds then plug them back in again, including the modem and transformer. Wires should snugly fit into ports. These instructions do not apply to routers. For wireless connections and routers: Reset your system clock. see "help and support" in Windows for directions. If a router with a firewall is being used it maybe unplugged provided you have the skills to reconfigure the firewall if it contains one. With third party viewers open the statistics bar (view > statistics bar) and the network preferences (edit > preferences > network > maximum bandwidth slider) TP to a SIM while the SIM is rezzing set the bandwidth slide bar for the maximum kbps you can achieve in the statistics bar. This location should be near the maximum speed of your ISP service. This does not apply to the SL viewer 2 You can check your connection speed here: http://www.speedtest.net/ If your looses connectivity contact your ISP and complain. Expect a broken connection when connected to the Internet. SL should run continuously, SL is streaming.
  22. This is a bit of a "sticky wicket". Yes, it is possible to have more then five in fact you can buy them. Some say there are workarounds for more without paying a fee. The term location I mentioned is also problematic it also appears the hardware you use is involved in identifying your location. (eg. the phrase "hardware banned". The issue was making more AVs so I kept it simple. Message was edited by: Faubio.Alter ............... officially SL says you can have, five but in the small print can be found options for more then five.
  23. Exactly the same way you did the first. You can make as many as five from anyone physical address (where you are in person).
