  1. I'll second number 5) :smileyvery-happy:
  2. Here is a non-LL link to a pdf on Linden Homes and furnishing them. Nicely done. http://www.primperfect.net/mag/pp_linden_homes_special.pdf
  3. Hi Cheri, I have never seen a mixture of Linden Home Types on the same sim. It would defeat the purpose of the themed communities. In fact, it's normal for there to be parklands between the different communities but perhaps they are quite close or adjoining where you are. There are hundreds of adjoining sims on each Linden Home continent so it's more likely your home overlooks a sim of Meadowbrook homes. There are in fact nine Meadowbrook styles of which the two-floor variants are the most popular. I think the Quad may be the only single-storey one and it's not that popular because of its closely shared space and the inability for friends to select each section of a Quad. Meadowbrook Homes are by far the most popular Type. Consequently, Linden Lab built hundreds more sims of Meadowbrook Homes on each continent than any other Type when they eventually realised this but even still, shortages can occur (many threads on this) so if this happens, you may have to be patient and check regularly. Either Abandon your existing home and claim or wait for a Meadowbrook home or continue living where you are and use a non-Premium alt to check availability and if what you want is available, log in, collect belongings and Abandon before claiming the new home, which hopefully will not have been claimed in the meantime. Here is the Linden Home FAQ: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Homes/ta-p/700103 Teleport around the Meadowbrook sims and see which type appeals to you. I'll happily show you mine if you IM me inworld and we're on same time. I was lucky first time and got one beside the sea and some parkland but it's hit and miss. PS: What Lindal said is incorrect in relation to choosing a Linden Home. You can select Styles within a Theme and the home selector will show you what Styles are available.
  4. It should reinstall in the default location so perhaps something has gone wrong with the installation. Uninstall again then search for a folder called SecondLife. Delete it when you find it and then reinstall. You may also like to read Maddy's comments in relation to folders on Macs at the bottom of this link: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231 The SecondLIfe cache folder and the objectcache and texturecache folders inside it (and the files and folders inside them), are actually created the instant you open the Second Life program, before log in, so they should be visible in the Mac's default location /Library/Caches/SecondLife before you even log in.
  5. Probably best to take it up with the Singularity Devs: http://www.singularityviewer.org/kb There is an Issue Tracker link there leading to http://code.google.com/p/singularity-viewer/issues/list Nothing shows up for what you describe in a Search there so you could raise it as a new issue. Oddly, if I click the new issue button on that page I get switched to a Google Account login page so not sure what that's about.
  6. Did you try wearing the mesh avatar again to see if perhaps the eyes will detach on the second occasion? After seven years in SL, you know all the usual tricks to sort your avatar out and if none are working, you may need Linden Lab's help to fix the issue. I'm in SL over seven years too and I've never seen glitches like that. If you have Premium Membership, submit a ticket under Technical > Avatar Issues. If you have Basic Membership, consider taking out Premium on a monthly basis until Support fixes your avatar, hopefully on a permanent basis. It won't cost that much as you'll get $300 ($1.20) stipend each Tuesday to offset against the $10 monthly fee and a L$1,000 ($4) bonus after 45 days if it takes Linden Lab two months to fix it.
  7. kaymichel wrote: I thought that the viewer would not show any new items when i reach the 10.000 Or are that old news? BTW sorry for my mistyping in the first post. I am close to 10.000 (ten-thousand). As others have explained, you have nothing to worry about. Don't forget too that the Library, although counted in your Inventory total, is not actually part of your Inventory. It's a shared resource. It currently stands at 2210 items. If your Inventory is displaying 10,000 items, your actual Inventory is only 7,790 items. The LIbrary has grown considerably over the years. If you never use your Library and prefer to see your real Inventory total, you can disable it. Niran's Viewer and Kirstens before it had a simple tick box to disable it (+ restart) but if your viewer doesn't have this option, you can disable it as below Select World > Show > Advanced Menu to enable the Advanced Menu or press [CTRL+ALT+D] Choose Advanced > Debug Settings. Type noinventoryLibrary. It autocompletes. Select TRUE. Close the DEBUG SETTINGS window and restart the Viewer. Now the viewer will show your actual personal Inventory without the LIbrary cluttering it up, but of course you can't access any Library items should you need to. I never do so I prefer to have it disabled. If I ever did need anything from it, I'd just reverse the process above.
  8. I should add that if you are not receiving the emails, check your spam folder just in case Linden Lab emails went in there. Also, check Contact Information on your Dashboard to ensure Linden Lab has a correct and valid email address for you.
  9. Linden Lab send an email the day after taking the Premium payment, whether this be monthly, quarterly or annually. Check your emails or even your credit card or paypal account for when the last payment went through if you can't find the emails. If you click Account > Account Summary, you'll see what premium payment plan you are on, billing rate, current status, active (or not) and next bill date. It should be simple from the bill date and plan to work backwards to the last payment Linden Lab took.
  10. Collabor88 always seems to be full with its sim limit of 40 and so hard to get into. It's probably very laggy and maybe vendors are timing out. Send a notecard to the designer with a copy of your transaction history of this item bought today and ask for it to be resent. Regarding your previous history, have you cleared your cache to see if the missing items since December turn up on reloading your inventory from the LL server?
  11. I assume you mean COLLABOR88. Which designer did you buy from? If you've left it so late your purchase transaction has disappeared off your Dashboard (only stored for 30 days), you will have to rely on the good nature of and records held by the designer and hope she or he will resend. Send a notecard and hope for the best.
  12. Porky Gorky wrote: I got slapped in the face by Lily Allen, before she was famous. I was working as a bouncer at a club called the Camden Palace in London. Must have been 2001 or 2002 Lily and a group of girls were trying to get into the club. I asked for ID on the door as she was clearly under age. She did not have ID and immediately started ranting at me. Shouting things like, "Do you know who I am", "Do you know who my dad is?" and generally threatening to get me fired / beaten up / shot in the face. She then told me that her dad was Keith Allen (which retrospectively is how I now know she was Lily Allen). so I said "oh you mean that bald little **bleep** from the Vindaloo video". and then she slapped me in the face and stormed off. You'll enjoy this photo of the front cover of the Christmas/New Year edition of Hot Press then Porky:
  13. You stated it was a Visa Debit card, which is completely different to a credit card. Using a Visa Debit card is like using cash, the money is taken immediately from your bank account and if the money isn't there or an approved overdraft in place, the payment won't go through. Linden Lab won't accept debit cards (although you will find instances of SL residents here saying their particular debit card was accepted at times and perhaps you will be lucky). You can buy Lindens from an authorised reseller using your Visa Debit card but to buy Lindens through the Linden Exchange from your Dashboard or inworld via the viewer, you need an approved credit card or a verified Paypal account. The link I gave you explains how to buy Lindens through Paypal but without a credit card to back it up, you need funds in your Paypal account and you can only buy USD, which you can then convert to Lindens. If you wish, you can contact Billing Support via a toll-free number as you appear to be in the US and they will explain it all to you. Billing Support is open 24/7. https://support.secondlife.com/billing-support/

  15. Hi LilSelena, You need a credit card, not a Visa Debit card. Visa Debit cards are not accepted by LInden Lab. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Billing/ta-p/700037#Section_.3 If you don't have an approved credit card and not interested in getting one from your bank, you could look at buying Lindens from an Authorised Reseller. Although the risk is yours, the resellers named in the linked page below have been authorised by Linden Lab. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Linden_Dollar_%28L$%29_Authorized_Reseller_Program http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/More-Options-for-Buying-Linden-Dollars/ba-p/2011355
  16. Did you join as a Premium member? If so, you are entitled to a Linden Home or a 512 s.m. tier allowance on a mainland parcel. To choose a Linden Home, log in to your Dashboard from the main home page www.secondlife.com with your username and password and follow the prominent link to choose one. You'll get confirmation of your choice and location (chosen randomly) by email and the home will appear in your Dashboard under the Land Manager section. More detail here https://secondlife.com/land/lindenhomes/member.php and here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Homes/ta-p/700103 Teleport there and set your new home to your Home Location. To set your home: Move your avatar to the chosen location. Use World > Set Home To Here. A message appears confirming if your home is set successfully. You can always teleport straight to your home location by using World > Teleport home. Read the second link above to find out how to change your allocated home type/location if you wish to. If you are a Basic member, you are not entitled to a free home but you can rent one or rent land and buy or build a house. Refer http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-land/ta-p/700043 You can add comments to your post by selecting Options/Edit.
  17. No you don't but the viewer doesn't simply allow you access adult content by default because you registered as 18+. You have to select Adult in the drop down menu in Me > Preferences > General > I want to access content rated. You need to do this while logged in. You may also need to select Adult for Search and also on Marketplace.
  18. Ok but it does sound like a network connection issue. Nalates has a good page on traching down network issues at the link below so read through it and her suggestions. http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ Have you tried another viewer by the way? Hopefully others will have some suggestions too.
  19. Please open your viewer to login page and select Help > About Second Life. Then copy/paste the contents of the window that opens into a reply here using Options/Edit to the right of your post. That will give us your computer details and viewer used. Are you using a laptop or desktop? It may very well be your computer is overheating so you're crashing every 5/10 minutes. Run a hardware monitor such as the free Open Hardware Monitor http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ to check. Perhaps your cooling fans have now clogged up with dust and your computer needs a good clean. If a laptop, sitting it on a laptop cooler should help too. By the way, what error messages if any appear onscreen when you crash?

  21. First check your Dashboard. What does your balance show as there? If your money really is gone and it's not just a viewer issue, you may have been phished so immediately change your password but first make sure your email address in your Dashboard details is correct and available to you. How to change your password You can change your password, along with other account-related information, on your Dashboard. To view your Dashboard, log in and select My Dashboard from the dropdown menu under Me. Click the Account section on the left of the Dashboard to expand it; then click Change Password. Your Second Life account is linked with an email address of your choosing, which is where things like announcements from Linden Lab and offline instant messages (if you have those enabled) are delivered. Then contact Second Life Support. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Password-and-account-information/ta-p/700017#Section_.5 What to do if your account is compromised Your account may have been compromised if: You can't access your account. You suddenly notice a reduced available balance on the payment source you have on file. If this happens, contact us immediately! Here's what to do: Go to the Second LIfe Help page and log in if you can. If you can't access your account, use the Forgot your login information? link on the right to recover your username and reset your password. Then log in. On the Second LIfe Help page page, click the Contact Support link on the right. On the next page, click Submit a a Support Case form. Under What type of problem are you having?, select Account Issue. A second dropdown appears. Under Account Issue, select I believe my account has been compromised. Fill in the rest of the fields as directed. Click Submit. Check your email for your case number. Call our fraud number: 800-860-6990. Once you do this, Linden Lab will place your account on hold and investigate the relevant transactions. This may take a few days. Once we have concluded the investigation, we'll send you an email explaining our conclusion and the action we will take. Note that all transactions involving Linden dollars are subject to Linden Lab's Terms of Service. PS. You can add comments to your original post using Options/Edit.
  22. Have you tried unplugging your modem/router and any other gear you use to connect to the Internet, leave for a few minutes then plug them in again. This may purge "stale" settings. Reboot your computer and try login again. If you're running a firewall or firewall/internet security software, it may have a security warning in the background that's interrupting Second Life's login process. You may have to reconfigure or disable this third-party software to use Second Life. You could temporarily disable just to test login and see what happens. If using wifi, does using a wired connection fix the issue? Did your 'fresh installs' comprise full manual removal of the Second Life folders in AppData Local and Roaming (or if you wish, just rename them by adding _old to the names to test if they're the problem and then rename back if not and delete the new folders created). After the full manual uninstall and before reinstalling, check for any leftover secondlife, SLPlugin or SLVoice files in Local Disk C/Windows/Prefetch and delete any found. One cause for this particulat 'Connecting to Region' issue was given by a resident as being a worn physics layer. When removed, she was able to login without getting stuck at this point. Sounds weird to me but you may wish to try it the next time you sucessfully login and see what happens on successive logins. PS. You can add comments to your original post using Options/Edit to the right of your post.
  23. This is the Home page http://secondlife.com/ It does not read as you say it does so I'm not sure what page you're actually looking at. There isn't even anything remotely misleading on the Home page. Clicking the prominent orange Play for Free button brings you to the Join process where you choose an avatar, username etc. You've already gone through this process. It's a long time since I created an avatar so I had to refer to a video of the Join process to get this page where you choose to play for Free or join as a Premium member with extra benefits. Again, there is nothing misleading here, the choice is entirely yours. If you ever wish to do so, you can opt to upgrade to Premium at any time after joining. Just install Second Life if not already done, open the application, login with your username and password and enjoy Second Life while playing for free as the Home page says.
  24. Oh ok. I've just rezzed a number of items both at my home and at a sandbox and all deleted just fine at the first attempt.
