  2. Syo Emerald wrote: The numbers the official viewer gives you (along with those warnings) are...silly. Everyone with a halfway decent computer will turn up the numbers, because the standart level of 80.000 is ridicoulusly low compared to how the avatar market really looks like. I have to respectfully disagee. 80,000 is adequate although I have the limit set at a more reasonable 100,000. Anyone going over that will have to be a friend I want rendered or I won't individually render them. I don't care how beautiful they think they look, I won't see them. I have quite easily adapted all my existing saved outfits to a complexity of between 30,000 - 40,000 and they all look great. Old jewellery was the main culprit in adding hugely to complexity values. My outfits include a mesh body, clothes, hair, shoes, jewellery and other minor adornments. There is absolutely no reason why others can't do the same, especially when clubbing or at other busy places. Just shop with complexity in mind and adapt to where you are.
  3. Hi Talistoria, It shouldn't matter which shape you use, Maitreya's or your own. The mesh body adapts except when you want almost flat breasts, which Lara can't handle. Some creators make clothes for Maitreya Lara that do not fit correctly requiring the use of the alpha hud, in particular with breasts and nipples, so it's essential to try demos. Some are so off a good fit they are best avoided. Creations by those who have access to the full Lara details usually work perfectly and can be considered 'fitmesh'. I can't think why Maitreya's own clothes are not fitting you. Recheck that you are wearing the Maitreya Lara alpha. Try Blueberry's clothes too. Their creations all fit perfectly. You could also try rezzing a new Lara folder from the original box. If you don't have it still, you can get redelivery from the terminal at the back of the Maitreya store. If you like I can meet you inworld at an agreed time and see if I can help.
  4. This is what the auto updater does according to Oz Linden: By default, the viewer checks for an update when it is launched (even before you log in), and then once an hour after that. If you have not logged in yet, it downloads any update as fast as it can... once you're logged in, it throttles that download so as not to affect your viewer performance. If you disconnect before the download is complete, it will try to resume where it left off. The combination can mean that you can get the update any time during your session (especially if you have a slower net connection). You should be able to decline to install an update if you're already logged in... if you do, it will do the update automatically on your next viewer launch. However, it's quite common for the auto updater to bork the update so just switch off the auto updater feature. When an update is available and you wish to, or have to, update, uninstall your viewer then download the latest viewer from the download page and install it. Your settings will remain unless you manually delete the viewer folder in AppData - Roaming. You should not experience any issues this way.
  5. It seems to be available on Appandora but I'm not familiar enough with iPhones and how to bypass iTunes when installing apps and it may depend on what iOS is installed. People are still using it though.
  6. Yes there is but quite limited compared to Lumiya for Android and no 3D view. You can still get the now discontinued Pocket Metaverse Pro which some still use on their iPhones. Just been chatting to someone inworld who was using it. http://www.pocketmetaverse.com/ http://downloads.tomsguide.com/Pocket-Metaverse-Pro,0301-40118.html .
  7. Sorry, had no internet access for a few days. I use Windows 7 not Windows10 so unfortunately can't help with the latter. I never had any issues using any SL viewer with Defender but as Defender was causing other unrelated problems, I disabled it and instead installed the free version of Avira. According to tests, Avira is far better anyway. http://www.trustedreviews.com/best-free-antivirus_round-up_Page-5
  8. Hopefully Whirly Fizzle will be along soon but in the meantime: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/antivirus_whitelisting If using Norton's, there was a recent update which was causing an issue, just not the issue you describe, but the timing seems coincidental if that is your anti-virus program: https://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/double-text-messages/m-p/3029105/highlight/true#M225158
  9. I have my complexity set at 200,000 on Black Dragon at the moment and so many avatars are still jellydolls. Probably less than 50% are under 80,000. Issues: One avatar at 188,073 is fully rendered looking at front but a green jellydoll from the back. kb number from front is 8640 kb and from back 20,630 kb so number is in red and she becomes a jellydoll. One avatar is a purple jellydoll at 109,229, well under my 200,000 limit, but has 48.428.8 kb in red under the complexity figure so presumably that is what is causing her to be a jellydol. Anyone know what the kb number refers to?
  10. I bought a bed on MP not so long ago and it too disappeared soon as I bought it and I can't even trace who actually sold it. Another possibility is that it was a gacha item. There are thousands of these on Marketplace and they will disappear soon as you buy because they are one-off items. It is not unknown for empty boxes to be sold although I have bought many gacha items on MP without problems but only from long-standing sellers.
  11. I'm not sure of the technical details but as the jellydoll is a featurelss cardboard cutout, I image the performance improvement is more than that of an impostor but I really don't know. The advantage of jellydolls is that I can choose to render friends who may be above my complexity limit while leaving others as jellydolls. This is not an option with impostors as you can't choose who is fully rendered or not.
  12. Drake, you will always see yourself and depending on how you set your limit will depend on how many others you see rendered. The problem for someone with a high complexity is that others who have limits of around 80,000 or so will only that person as a jellydoll/jellybaby unless they decide to right click and render you.
  13. Here is my avatar showing a complexity of just 29,134 with mesh hair, Maitreya Lara mesh body and mesh dress. I hope to get most if not all my outfits down to this sort of level or certainly well below 80,000.
  14. I've been going through my saved outfits to bring the complexity number down below 80,000 and in many cases can get to 30,000-35,000. The worst offenders seem to be older jewellery items. I was absolutely shocked to discover that a pair of earrings and a necklace contributed a massive 73,000 between them. They will never be worn again. I've spent a lot on my avatar and I don't want to be a jellydoll to everyone. For those with mesh bodies, refer to the MBA article here. Some results may shock you but thankfully my Lara body has the lowest count of all. http://meshbodyaddicts.com/whatsyouraci/
  15. interesting to see Linden Lab posted this yesterday about jellydolls: https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Why-are-all-these-people-made-of-colored-jelly/ba-p/3031255 I've been going through my saved outfits to bring the complexity number down below 80,000 and in many cases can get to 30,000-35,000. 16. Hi Fennet, This should explain it. http://meshbodyaddicts.com/jellydolls/ edit: Few more links: http://blog.nalates.net/2016/04/23/second-life-jelly-babies-grow-up/ http://blog.nalates.net/2015/10/25/are-second-lifes-jelly-babies-breaking-sl/
  17. Alwin, you're a genius! Wear and drop worked. :smileyhappy: Thanks so much! Nyll x
  18. Saul, I tried it in the house and on the ground outside...same result
  19. No Alwin, well within the boundary..is quite compact. oh..I'll try wear and drop...
  20. I own a small parcel on mainland with 57 prims left over. It's set to my own group and I am the Owner. I have no problems rezzing items there apart from one, which is just 5 prims. Every time I rez it, I get a message that it can't be rezzed because the owner of the land does not permit it. It then disappears from inventory until I relog. I have no problem rezzing it on other land. I know there were bugs like this before but thought they were fixed. Is it likely to correct itself after a rolling restart or should I submit a ticket?
  21. You have pressed the Insert key on your keyboard, usually above the Delete key. Press it again and your cursor will be back to normal.
  22. Absolutely agree with Venus. I check Mesh Body Addicts every week for Daria's latest weekly finds and you can go back over previous weeks too. She also tells us about various ongoing or forthcoming events as well as reviews on the various mesh bodies and mesh heads. It's a wonderful resource.
  23. I'm not sure how your card could force antialiasing if set to use application settings rather than enhance or override but antialiasing is such a complex matter. There is this thread on antialiasing on the AMD Community forum in relation to the R9 270 which you may like to read. https://community.amd.com/thread/195762 I use an AMD R7 370 OC and the Black Dragon viewer. It uses FX AA either enabled or disabled, there is no 2x to 16x. If I disable, my fps goes up by about 8 but everything looks bad.
  24. Hi Keira. It sounds like a corrupted cache but then I've seen some residents with this issue say a clean install did not resolve the problem (although worth a shot first) and it's not a bake fail issue either I believe. Are you using more than one viewer? The reason I ask is this possible fix, which Madam Martian says worked for her and her friend. https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Your-Avatar/Failed-to-find-in-Database-ANSWER/m-p/1737597/highlight/true#M23840 Scroll down to the edit in red on that page.
