  1. What to do if your account is compromised Your account may have been compromised if: You can't access your account. You suddenly notice a reduced available balance on the payment source you have on file. If this happens, contact us immediately! Here's what to do: Go to the Second LIfe Help page and log in if you can. If you can't access your account, use the Forgot your login information? link on the right to recover your username and reset your password. Then log in. On the Second LIfe Help page page, click the Contact Support link on the right. On the next page, click Submit a a Support Case form. Under What type of problem are you having?, select Account Issue. A second dropdown appears. Under Account Issue, select I believe my account has been compromised. Fill in the rest of the fields as directed. Click Submit. Check your email for your case number. Call our fraud number: 800-860-6990. Once you do this, Linden Lab will place your account on hold and investigate the relevant transactions. This may take a few days. Once we have concluded the investigation, we'll send you an email explaining our conclusion and the action we will take. Note that all transactions involving Linden dollars are subject to Linden Lab's Terms of Service.
  2. The first thing you should have done is change your password if your account was compromised. Password security is your job. Make it hard. Change it often. Don't tell anyone what it is. Don't use the Remember Password feature to make logging in easy for yourself, particularly if you do not live alone. ETA Oh and avoid email phishing schemes. If someone gives you a link inworld and you use it and get challenged for your SL password, DON"T ENTER IT --Cinn
  3. What is your network latency to the sim server? To find out, pull up the Statistics tool (Ctrl-Shift 1) and look for the Ping Sim stat. To post it back here, use the Options - Edit. ETA: BTW just how low is your FPS? --Cinn
  4. Is the club land Set to Group or Deeded to the group. I believe it needs to be deeded for that group ability to function. ETA: You figured out reply just fine! Answers is reply-impaired. You need to study up on the various group abilities. It can be confusing and complex. However you can setup roles that allow your employees powers like posting events or changing the media settings without giving them the ability to sell group land or earn group dividends. But make sure you are comfortable with the settings before you deed the land to your group. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Groups-overview/ta-p/700081 --Cinn
  5. Please remove that conversation from your post as you are in direct violation of the TOS as well as the forum community guidelines. ETA: Thanks you for removing that. You should file an Abuse Report on each individual using the Help - Report Abuse. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Filing-an-abuse-report/ta-p/700065 --Cinn
  6. Since most of the posts like these end in the renter never getting their money back, sounds like you at least have a promise of getting yours. You've obviously never been on the receiving side of a bankrupcy where it may take months if not years to only get a small portion of your money back! This falls under the resident-to-resident rule. Meaning that LL will not intervene in a resident-to-resident dispute. Sorry, but there really is no renters protection agency in SL. --Cinn
  7. This from the KB --Cinn http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Account-credentials/ta-p/700017 What to do if you forget your password If you know your username but have forgotten your password, go to the password recovery page. Enter your username and click Send Instructions to have instructions on how to create a new password sent to the email address connected to the account . You'll need to answer the security question you chose when creating your Second Life account. Be sure to check your junk mail/spam folder. If you can't recall the answer to your security question, just contact Customer Support, preferably by opening a support case. You'll be asked to verify your identity and, working together, we can reset your security question. We apologize in advance that support cannot retrieve passwords. Luckily, this won't be an issue once we reset your security question.
  8. The Risk API is used by third party linden exchanges to assess the inherent risk in allowing a linden transaction with you. So one thing you could do is use the Linden Exchange here on the Second Life website to sell your linden. The Risk API is not a perfect tool so sometimes all you have to do is re-try your transaction. See the linked wiki page for more information about the Risk API --Cinn http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Exchange_Risk_API
  9. Just attach it where you what it. Right click on the item in inventory and choose Attach To. A second popup window will appear with all the possible attach points. Select the one you want and you are done. --Cinn
  10. As I understand it, you need two things for RLV to work: A viewer that supports it and an object, normally a collar, that controls you. AFAIK you always have the option to remove the collar and stop the role play. --Cinn
  11. If you did not receive an email from Linden (check your spam filter) then I would recommend opening a support ticket to find out why the linden amount has been adjusted. You might also try Billing (see numbers below) This could be a mistake or it could be that you received linden that was fraudulently purchased. Only LL can tell you for sure. --Cinn Have billing issues? Give us a call. Note that phone support is for billing issues only. If you're having technical issues, please use technical support. 12. Well normally the answer is check your Linden balance here on the website because quite often the viewer linden balance is not always updated properly. However, the title of your posts suggests that you have checked your Transaction History and you have a transaction that shows your linden being taken by a Linden. Which Linden took your money?? And what kind of transaction does your history show? Use the Options - Edit to add information to your post. If we knew which Linden it was, we might be able to determine the best place to begin. For example Commerce Linden handles all the Marketplace transactions. --Cinn
  13. That is the message you get when you sell Linden on the Linden Exchange. The US dollars go into your USD account. You still have to Process Credit in order for those dollars to be put into Paypal. Go to your Dashboard - Account - Account Summary and look for your US Dollar balance. It should show the amount of dollars in your USD account and next to it is a Process Credit link. Click that to begin the process of getting your money sent to Paypal. --Cinn
  14. Try connecting to a different sim first and see if that works. If it is the group tag problem, use one of your alts to contact the group owner and have you removed from the group. --Cinn
  15. This is a resident supported forum. No one here charged you anything. If you were charged something from Linden Lab that you dispute, you should contact Billing (numbers listed below). However, if you were charged something by a vendor in Second Life, you will need to contact that vendor directly for any sort of refund. --Cinn Have billing issues? Give us a call. 16. What are you trying to connect to? You can't run a Second Life viewer on an iPad 2. --Cinn
  17. You should be able to. Instead of choosing Wear from the drop down menu, choose Add. ETA: Thanks for editing your thread with additional info. The others are correct of course (only smart people here on Answers!) You will need to move to one of the next generation viewers that have multi-layer support --Cinn
  18. Ariel has the answer. The reason is that they pay very early on Tuesday morning (right after midnight PST time). So anyone signing up on Tuesday will have usually signed up after the payments are processed for that week and will receive their stipend on the next Tuesday's payment cycle. --Cinn
  19. So I'm curious why you are looking at estate properties and not considering becoming a premium member and buying mainland? 2k linden per week is $32 USD per month. For $15 USD per month you could pay for a premium account at $10 monthly rate (even cheaper if you do quarterly or yearly) and your free 512sqm land + a $5 land tier for 512sqm more gives you 1024sqm with a 32mx32m footprint. And you get 300L back per week to spend. Plus access to premium gifts and premium sandbox access. And better support. Just curious why such a scenario is not in your plans since its half the price you are willing to pay to rent from another resident. --Cinn
  20. Eh.....if the resident hasn't been on for a long time, what is there to report? Its hard to break the TOS without being online! Report Abuse is found in the Help menu. ETA: If you keep changing the contents of your thread, then the answers you receive will no make sense to you or the other people trying to help you. Your initial question was how to report a merchant inworld. Your edit makes it sound like a Marketplace purchase was not delivered, hence Rolig's answer. --Cinn
  21. Probably not. With abandon land selling for 1L per sqm, prices are already rock bottom. Doing land swaps would only further deteriorate an already bad land market. As far as I know there are no provisions to do land swaps and none being planned. --Cinn
  22. This from the KB. Note that reporting an account "hacked" will get the account shutdown until the issue is investigated. So make sure this is a compromised account problem and not something less serious. ETA: Reporting that someone elses account has been hacked is probably not going to work here. --Cinn http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Account-credentials/ta-p/700017#Section_.5 What to do if your account is compromised Your account may have been compromised if: You can't access your account. 23. There's nothing here to abuse report from what I can see. If the message said "Can of Soda" from Drink Vending HUD, would you accept it then? Hopefully not. If you did accept the Can of Soda and it asked you to grant permission to take your Linden, THEN you have a reason to submit an Abuse Report. If everyone filed abuse reports for every object someone unknown tried to send them, the Abuse Report system would be flooded. --Cinn
  24. Probably. Main land tier just keeps doubling. You might consider buying the land using an alt. --Cinn
