  1. The size difference between the avatars seems to be equal on both pictures. Differences are caused by perspective and different height over ground of the avatars. Easy to check if I'd be able to cam around. - So move camera to ground level and check. - Use a stand still pose and make a prim of same size as avatar and check. Scripts that tell you the avatar height are useless since the offset some viewers can add to an avatar have an effect and shoesize counts too. You can change your height by wearing a shoe object - especially unexpected when original feet are not visible. And some viewers allow to set a height offset for your avatar.
  2. Sounds like the collar works like an AO and plays the animations in the collar. What is triggered under what condition is unknown here. So either the collar isn't designed for adding animations or it just doesn't work properly or it works differently to what you expect. The /99stop command is not an SL thing. Many danceballs (but not all) listen to this but thats scripted by the creators of that devices. The collar obviously doesn't care for a stop command on channel 99.
  3. Maelstrom Janus wrote: Personally as a long term sl user I think everyone should be paying a premium regardless... Sure. But most ppl wouldn't be in SL then - including me. I'd never joined if someone asked me to pay 1st. LOL - no chance. So you're right - in a deserted SL there won't be many griefers.
  4. Rolig Loon wrote: Hehe ... That's what I just did, by example. PERMISSION_CONTROL_CAMERA | PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION is a boolean combination of 0x800 and 0x10. That is, the bits in the two are combined to make 1000 0000 0000 OR 0000 0001 0000 = 1000 0001 0000 Only a detail: it's not a boolean OR it's a binary OR The result of a boolean OR is always TRUE or FALSE but a binary OR is the result of the OR operation on every single bit. boolean or = || binary or = |
  5. There is no IP banning of a person. Of course you can ban a specific IP or just leave it since it has no effect. Many people on this worls get a new IP every day and the rest gets a new IP manually. The ones who have a fixed IP's like students in a dorm, yes ban 'em all at once - very stupid idea.
  6. That devices are stupid and pointless but so are many of the avatars which asses they kick. I once got such an orb. Well I don't care if someone looks into my home, as long as I'm not there. If I'm there I expect them to stay off or at least ask nicely. So instead of IM'ing or kicking off stupid asses I installed an automatic asskicker! And I tell you it's great Needs a short warning time of course to do it's job properly. And of course I don't bother and switch it off everytime I go. At the moment I don't need it, only very few strangers. So it just depends on the situation. And there is no right to walk everywhere you want. If you are unwanted at a place - get over it and don't stomp with the foot and say "but I want" like a litte kiddie.
  7. You can make your own physics object or try to get one of the free moddable ones to start with. Have some animations ready to test. What you have is butt, belly, breasts and there is gravity and swing up,down, left, right. Not easy to get a decent effect with the sliders, takes some time and testing. No swinging cheeks or double chin and no muscle flexing. Just simple effects - best visible on breasts. But I have seen enourmous butts swinging for a long time after the last move. Not recommended btw. but at least it's entertaining.
  8. About the torchlights. How many torchlights I've seen? I can't remember, maybe 1. How many Facelights I've seen (b4 I switched them off)? I can't remember, maybe millions So I don't have a problem switching 'em off. Shortly I came to a place, was dark, not many details visible. Looked exactly as I'd have expected for that kind of environment and atmosphere. I remembered on Facelights and flipped the switch ON to check. I saw 10 bright spots. Only subtle lights this time but even that was completely inappropriate - nobody was wearing a torchlight btw. Flipped switch back to OFF position. Lights off - much better.
  9. Well the llReset_Script() in the on_rez event - take it out and on owner change - depends. If your script is designed to keep the data it will keep the data. No rez, no sim restart, nothing will affect the scripts memory. Only a reset will delete the data and that happens only if you script it that way or reset/recompile manually.
  10. Premium - why not? I get a stipend worth 5$ a month and a parcel worth 5$ a month so it pays itself. That as long as you have use for the parcel and have rented it anyways. Premium support - never used it so I don't know if it's worth it. But nice to have access. Premium gifts - nice - not my style though so they wait in inventory for their chance. Premium sandbox. Last time I used one I had all 15000 free prims for me alone. Ok, didn't need that many but I could ! Premium content - I got entertained a little - no reason to go premium for me though. Some gimmicks but the reason I got it is based on simple math.
  11. I was thinking of the effects of larger sound files. Whats the advantage? Whats the difference between 10 and 30 seconds? It's easier to play a music file? No you still need a script to link the pieces. Playing 30 sec chunks? Thats easier then. But I'm not allowed to do that anyways in case of music. No 10s no 30s. I'm allowed to listen though - what I don't want in most cases. So I say: I don't care
  12. Stand in front of a wall and trigger an animation that will make you walk forward (max .10m) then stand and loop. Then you are on one side of the wall and the name tag on the other side - that will be hard to find. Muting the owner of the vendors will effectively take out the shop for you - you can't buy there anymore. Can be good or bad - depends.
  13. Susan Kenin wrote: Nova, I turned on the show lookat, I see the cross hairs and names of avatars looking at people. I assume that would show anyone else looking at me, so, when in a dressing room or private place I would see that someone is "peeping". Correct? Does the privacy/lookat prevent other people from knowing that I am looking at them? If a "peeping tom" had that turned off, could he look at me without my knowing? Thanks In Firestorm one can switch off that cross hair (privacy/lookat/don't send...) so you don't see where that avatar is looking at. So if you see no cross hairs on you that doesn't mean nobody is looking. Another thing is: the cross hair only shows the point the camera looks at. So if the wall behind you is targeted the crosshair is in the wall but the camera can still have you in the focus. The crosshair os only on you if someone directly targeted your avatar. When that was new (years ago) I checked a bit where ppl are looking at - but I didn't use that for a long time now. I don't wanna know anymore. It's not important and not my business. As for dressing rooms - I personally don't care - you can make a dressing room with transparent walls in the middle of the shop - no problem for me. I doubt that there are even many that look, there is plenty of nudity in SL so no need to peek into dressing rooms. For a safe dressing room the shop owner needs to define sub parcels and set the visibility flag for them. I doubt that most even know that this exists.
  14. The 1st time I had a firefight in SL I was thinking, why is everything running in slow motion? After a while I even knew how to handle the lag and use it to my advantage. *giggles* I had fun most of the time but SL is in no way able to be a shooter. Since the Linden damage system is not very useful you will find many "combat meters" that simulate the damage. You can find quite some sims where you can fight often combined with a RP environment. (I guess the numbers are decreasing)
  15. On every change, there is someone who complains. Well, I like changes and have no problems to adapt to different layouts. In this case I don't see much changes, I can customize it even more than before and make it look like I want it to look. Purrrrrfect My understandment, for you is low since you can customize it in a wide range. Only the sidebar is gone for a while now and thats a good thing in my opinion. Is there one other TPV or Linden viewer who has a sidebar? I guess not. But of course every bad thing has it's fans. Beeing part of a small minority - posting that will not help you though.
  16. As Dora posted - it's the job of the land owner to set pacels you can't look in or out at avatars. Firestorm allows to move the camera with ease but even with a Linden viewer you can push your camera whereever you want it. It's only more difficult. There is to add: - You can show the points where other avatars cameras point at. (show lookat) - You can prevent that YOUR camera target point is made visible that way. (privacy/lookat) So now you know how to perv and how to prevent perving.
  17. Some windlight settings are nice, but I'd find it boring to run around with always the same setting. So I use the local settings (if there are any) and I overide that rarely. At home I change from time to time, depending on the mood. Facelights I lately have switched off completely (no lights attached to avatars are rendered for me). So, whatever you do for visual enhancements, I'll not see that.
  18. Marcus Hancroft wrote: Yeah, but I consider those display names "play names" or "aliases." And so have them turned off. They mean nothing to me and I don't want to see them. So, off they went a LONG time ago. They are a poor option what with all the ascii characters so many people seem to want to use. X-P Ugh. That's your own self made problem then. The display name is the name the other avatar has choosen to use and so I use it. If the display name is not readable or something I don't want to use and the username isn't better then I use my imagination. It's fun. 047xxx is therefore: zero A very good name for someone who isn't even able to give themself a name. If they don't like that name I don't care. So I don't see any problems anymore but if someone would ask me (which will not happen) then I'd wish to have the old name system back.
  19. You look absolutely ok. This people probably tell that every new avatar and it's probably their pathetic hobby. Have more self-confidence. If you think you look ok then you look ok.
  20. An uninstaller is not too clever. If you installed steam under the SL folder or SL into the programs folder instead of it's own subfolder - at the end it asks if it should remove the rest and so it did. If thats the case or not I dont know and you don't know either because you can't look now since it's deleted. But consider that you are the only one where that happened, so something in your installation must have been special. Without of knowing more details that case will remain unresolved. Of course there is the usual fanboy or anti-fanboy spam in the thread. Since it's completely of no use it's definitely spam. :matte-motes-sunglasses-1:
  21. Very simple. Your are not the IP rights owner so it's not your business. You can tell the IP holder about it then they can decide what to do. If they decide to ignore this then it's still not your business. :matte-motes-sunglasses-1:
  22. I'm running at a max bandwidth setting of 5000 for over a year now. My connection speed is 20000. Absolutely no issues. I noticed that the servers deliver around 1500 with rare peaks above. I checked my fps with different settings too, but there is no influence on fps. (for me) I can set bandwidth to 10000 it makes no difference. At 1000 no noticeable difference although textures should load slower. But I cant check it with a stopwatch. So I assume if you have enough bandwidth this setting is meaningless, as long as it's set high enough.
  23. All media, (moap and parcel streams) can retrieve the IP. But thats only the IP so that alone is worthless. They need to identify the avatar too. If you're the only avatar on a parcel that's easy. If your media starts to play at the moment you enter a parcel then they can compare time of avatar that teleported in and time the media call and link that. I can imagine some problems on a busy sim though. Same goes for any weblink. If you click it the webserver knows your IP, just doesnt know the avatar. A voice IM establishes a direct connect between the 2 ends and a manipulated client can reveal the IP even if the call is not taken - so I've read. What to do? I have media off. Means it will only start playing if i click on the play button or the moap-prim. My parcel media has a whitelist so I can play favourate radio stations automatic. (Viewer feature) But I prefer an external player anyways. I hate when music switches when moving over parcels. Voice you need to switch off completely.
  24. Ha, thats nothing - I once read a profile where the readers of the profile were judged. (if you have/do/look ... then you ...) I didn't read to the end. As long as people stay silent I don't care. If they start to explain their stuff I right click/mute and don't care anyways. SL is a nice place for wannabe Dr. Freud's or worse I think. *giggles*
  25. I came to the conclusion that hair and hats doesn't work in SL but it is possible. I buy only moddable hair and made hair and hat fit, but since hair has usually 200-250 prims it's no fun to edit over 100 prims arranged in multiple layers. Maybe you're lucky and your hairstyle is hat-friendly and there are only a few prims to move/rotate/resize. I have often seen really big hats, which - of course - require less editing. But that looks crap in my opinion As mentioned in another post - make a copy of your copy+mod hair 1st if you want to give it a try.
