  1. Be sure to refresh or reload the web page to see the changes.
  2. 1. You must have the ability to rez objects in your new home. If you bought a Linden Home, you do. If you bought your own Mainland parcel, you do. If you are renting or bought land on a Private Estate, you will most likely need to join the landlord's rental group. If you didn't get an invitation to do that, IM the landlord. 2. Drag the furniture from inventory onto the floor. Right click it, select Edit. Move it about with the colored arrow movement handles. Hold CTRL to change them to rotation handles. 3. If you need further help, IM me in world.
  3. Yes, that's correct. Be sure to Abandon your Linden Home before you purchase your replacement parcel, to avoid a tier charge for the billing period when you hold a total of 1024 m2 (the Linden Home and the new parcel). You do have to pay the current owner to purchase the new land. It can be bigger than 512 m2, but you will only pay monthly tier on the part in excess of 512. This is all Mainland we are talking about. You can buy all the land you want on a private estate and it will not affect your tier with Linden Lab. That transaction, both purchase and monthly upkeep, is between you and the Estate owner.
  4. Your avatar is unrezzed, or partially rezzed, plus you have Particles turned off in your graphics settings. For the second problem, go to Me/Preferences/Graphics. Click the Advanced button. Slide the Particles slider to about 4000 (the number isn't critical, anything between 1500 and 5000 will be fine). Now you will look like a cloud, not an egg. Next, try some of the rez problem fixes. One of the easiest is to change your bald base. If that does not work, change the other things you are wearing, including skin and shape. To do it all at once, activate the Develop menu (CTRL+ALT+D, then CTRL+ALT+Q) and choose Develop/Character/Character Tests/Test Male (or Test Female). Once you have rezzed as a default avatar, go back and put on the items of your normal appearance one at a time. If you cloud up again, remove the last thing worn and wear something different. You can also try clearing cache, logging off, turning off your computer, router, and DSL modem and rebooting everything from Square One.
  5. See my blog post: How Does Babby Grow?
  6. These malicious account debiting objects are a very sneaky scam. You can ALWAYS prevent this from happening, though. When you rez an object, and you get a notification that it wants to be able to take money from your account, DO NOT CLICK ALLOW. Abuse report the object and the person you bought the object from.
  7. If it's one of those cards you add money to, then LL most likely won't accept it. They want a real credit card, tied to a billing address. I recommend using a verified PayPal account anyway, it's safer, more reliable, and you can cash out money you make in SL.
  8. You're paying Linden Lab. Do you own any land? Do you have it set to show in search?
  9. No, you don't have to take off the old before putting on the new. Let's say you are wearing a shirt. Just right click another shirt in you inventory and select Wear, or drag it onto your avatar, or double click it, and it will replace the old shirt. Bear in mind that clothing does come in layers, and layers that are "on top" hide those underneath. Pants will cover underpants, an undershirt is masked by a shirt which is covered by a jacket, etc...just like RL clothes. There is a fairly new feature that allows multiple items to be worn on a SINGLE clothing layer. To do this, Wear the first shirt, and then instead of the first procedure above, right click and ADD the second shirt.
  10. I'm afraid Valerie is not quite correct this time. When you sell $L on the Lindex (click Manage in the account section of your Dashboard page), the proceeds go into your $USD balance. From there, you can request that $USD be transferred to your verified PayPal account. Use the "Process Credit" option in Manage. You can NOT transfer money TO your credit card...the credit card companies don't do transactions in this direction.
  11. Have you Verified your PayPal account, by linking it to a Real World bank account? This process is easy, but it takes a few business days to complete. Go to your PayPal website for details.
  12. Yes indeed! First, make sure you do not own a Linden Home. If you do, Abandon that. Second, find a piece of land you like that is for sale. Land for sale will be colored yellow on the Map, if you check the appropriate box. You can also find parcels for sale in Search. Filter the Search for "Mainland". You can buy a parcel up to 512 square meters in size and not have to pay any monthly tier on it. You will pay tier on mainland in excess of 512 m2. Purchase the land from the current owner. Now it's yours, and you can build on it. For a table of how many prims you can rez on different sized parcels, and how much the monthly tier cost will be, see this link. https://secondlife.com/my/account/landfees.php?lang=en-US For more details about buying or renting land, come to my course at Caledon Oxbridge University, Fridays, 5 pm SL time.
  13. See this very long archived thread on sales and marketing: http://forums-archive.secondlife.com/327/ac/274749/1.html
  14. If you have a Premium membership, or own land on the Mainland, Linden Lab will charge your payment method whenever that bill comes due (monthly, quarterly, or annually). They will NOT notify you each time you have a payment due. You are responsible for monitoring your account and knowing when a bill is about to come due.
  15. Also, check the balance using Account Summary on your Dashboard web page here. The balance displayed in world may be inaccurate, and should update the next time you log in.
  16. Prim count is largely irrelevant for items you wear. Worn prims don't count against parcel prim limits. This is why we girls can get away with 200+ prim hair and jewelry. I don't think anyone sells just sheaths, only complete "sword systems". A sword, or a pistol, generally consists of two items...the sheathed or holstered weapon, and a drawn one that is attached to your hand. When you "draw" your weapon, the copy in the holster or sheath becomes transparent, and the one in your hand becomes visible.
  17. Did you try detaching and then re-attaching the HUD?
  18. Using the Shopping Cart for more than a couple of items is very dangerous. You are better off simply buying things one at a time. IM the creator(s) and request a re-delivery. Make sure you are not in Busy mode! When a vendor attempts to send you an item and you are Busy, that item is lost.
  19. Peggy's answer is excellent, even if it isn't what you wanted to hear. Lying about your age during registration leaves you open to all sorts of trouble. Let's say for example that you are 15, but said you were 21. You then accessed adult content and had sex with another person. Let's say that this person later starts stalking you and you tell your parents about it. They might want to take legal action against the stalker or Linden Lab...but because you lied about your age, you have no legal grounds for complaint. That's only one possibility. There are many ways for the unwary to get into serious trouble in the adult areas of Second Life. The age verification system is there for your protection as well as to protect Linden Lab from liability. Now, you might be telling the truth about being an adult, even if Peggy and I don't believe you. What you will have to do to prove it is to send a valid copy of proof of age (a photo ID and a birth certificate) by mail to Linden Lab with a request that they change your account data and verify you as an adult. Oh...if you DO manage to get your age changed, better change your user name, too. "Priick" could be considered broadly offensive; someone is liable to submit an Abuse Report on you.
  20. The head may be turning in response to your mouse. Default avatar behavior is to look toward the mouse cursor. You can override this with an animation if you set its priority high (3 or 4, I think) before you upload it. Some viewers also let you disable this "head turning" behavior.
  21. It probably won't help, but first try clearing your cache. Log out, relog to an empty region like Heckendorf or Pooley, and wait for your inventory to reload. You have to do this first, because it's the first thing Support will ask you to try. If it doesn't work, file a Support ticket and request help from LL. They can fix some inventory problems on their server end, and that is what this sounds like to me. https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ or, if you are Premium and can access Live Chat, https://support.secondlife.com/start-chat/

Ruth should be preserved forever! We've already lost so much that used to be a part of SL. I miss the Hippos, especially.
