  1. and to add one further point...the Texture tab of the edit window lets you change two things...texture, and color. If the wall has any sort of pattern on it, and you want to keep it, don't change the texture. Just try tinting it, with the color box. You can revert back by changing the color back to white. Once you change the texture, though, it's gone and you can't un-do it.
  2. Was it working before? It's possible that Linden Lab removed the animation as part of a DMCA copyright infringement action. When that happens, it's not your fault, but it can break your stuff. if the walk isn't in your AO, contact the maker. They may provide a substitute walk, with instructions how to install it.
  3. You may be wearing a "crusher", a device to scrunch your body down to fit into the tiny form factor. Check your Worn items and take off anything that doesn't belong with your "full size" avatar.
  4. Thanks for this question, it made me go find my own classifieds in the new layout! Have you tried the following: 1. While in world, click Me/Profile 2. Click the Picks tab 3. Click the Classifieds tab to see your Classifieds. 4. Pick the one you want to stop. Click the Trash Can icon at the bottom of the window, then confirm you want to delete the ad.
  5. Oh, duh! The word "here" is a LINK! I thought they meant HERE here, not THERE here! Color me blonde. Also semi color blind...I never noticed the link until y'all pointed it out.
  6. Mael, Copyright theft is bad. But SOPA/PIPA is bad, too...because it allows someone to shut you down merely by accusing you of copyright theft. It completely shifts the burden of proof to the accused.
  7. Yes, you can see who's looking at you (although they may be looking at the display behind you). Yes, you can Abuse Report anyone for anything. No, you will not get in trouble for looking at someone, even if they file an Abuse Report. I can see the scene at the Abuse Report Desk now... Monitor Linden: Oh, here's another one. "He wouldn't stop looking at me". Yawn. Curious Linden: Let's check her Profile...oh, wow! She's got a hot avatar. I don't blame the guy for looking. Snoopy Linden: Cool, let's pull up her IM logs...hmm. Oh my. Wow. She's pretty good at cybering, too. You guys gotta read this!
  8. I think ANY website will require that you use a Verified PayPal account...that is, one that is tied to a real life bank account. This is not onerous, or dangerous. I've had a verified PayPal account for years. Just to be on the safe side, I only keep a small amount of money in that bank account. That way, if my PayPal account is ever compromised, I can limit my losses. However, some of the legitimate third party $L exchange sites do have a more liberal policy on what payment methods they will accept. If they won't take your unverified PP account, they may take your credit card, debit card, or prepaid card. I've used VirWox with good results.
  9. Now there are TWO forum posts from LL, neither of which can be replied to. What is this, a dDoS attack?
  10. Someone just posted in another thread (Parting Shot at Twit) that it wasn't that you were blocking Followers, it was just that you couldn't see them any more. Can anyone verify that?
  11. Eric Holder will come after anyone who says they liked it. Nope, not me. Uh-uh.
  12. In typical LL fashion, they posted an invitation to participate in a poll, and locked the thread so as to get zero responses. But here's mine anyway! I don't use social networks (aside from SL itself). I don't like them, don't believe in them, and think they probably come from Satan. By necessity, I have a FaceBook account and a LinkedIn account, but I seldom log in to either one and pay as little attention to them as possible. I do have a blog, and I enjoy getting comments from readers.

  14. It's because SL is so large in comparison to the dimensions of a single region. Think of it like a bitmapped image. You can zoom out, and all the pixels blur together. You can't see the inidividual pixels until you zoom in quite close. Maps of large groups of regions, like the Mainland continents, can be useful, but a map of the whole world just won't provide any useful detail on your screen. Another point: About 80% of SL is private estate regions, and most of these are NOT grouped in large, continent-like clumps. So those little isolated islands very quickly get lost in the vast sea when you zoom out.
  15. Thank you for this post. It moved me to add explicit photo and machinima permissions to my parcels in Masocado. Anyone is welcome to shoot there, as long as we get a location credit.
  16. 1. Create a group. This has a one time charge of $L100. You must have at least one other person join within 48 hours, or the group will be disbanded by LL. (You may use an alt). 2. Set the land to your group. You don't need to DEED the land to the group, although you can if you wish. 3. Set the land options to allow only group members to rez there.
  17. Take product picture, save to your hard drive Open Marketplace Click My Marketplace Click Merchant Home Click Manage Inventory Select item Select Edit Item Scroll down near the bottom. There is a space where you can upload an image from your hard drive. (It may be obvious to Cinnamon, but it sure wasn't to me! I only have one item on the Marketplace, and I haven't done this process in a long time.)
  18. It looks legitimate, and the link points to a genuine SL website. Still, don't follow that link. MANUALLY browse to your account page and update your billing information if necessary.
  19. To add to Cinnamon's answer: 1. Please remove the UUID and name of the avatar you are having a dispute with from your post. "Naming names" is a violation of the Forum Rules. 2. Your stuff, if it is in the form of a coalesced object, will have the symbol of a little stack of cubes in your inventory. It is probably in your Lost and Found folder, and it could be named anything..."object", or any of the things that were returned. When you take it out of your inventory... a. Be in a large area. All the things will be in the same place relative to each other that they were when they were on your land. b. Have your object editing window open BEFORE you drag the object out. That way, all the stuff will be selected. Move the group of things so that none of them are underground or outside the bounds of the parcel where you are rezzing them. c. Now select the things one by one and take them back into your inventory.
  20. Listen to Tini! If you got an email about this, DO NOT FOLLOW ANY LINKS IN IT! There have been more phishing scams in SL lately. Check the expiration date of your current card. If it's expired, or about to, MANUALLY browse to your account page, and update your payment information. If you think an email could be a phishing scam, check the actual address of the page it leads to. If it's not https://secondlife.com, open a support ticket to LL and forward them a copy of the suspicious email.
  21. Neither your tree nor your home is really gone. Derendering just means you can't see them. In the future, bear in mind that right clicking and selecting Take or Delete is what you do to really delete something. Just use Derender to hide unsightly things built by your neighbors.
  22. Try this: Set your draw distance high. Fly over the center of your land. Fly up until you can see all of it on the screen. Take a snapshot. Save the snapshot to your hard drive. In a paint program, add labels as needed. Upload the finished map to SL as a texture. Put it on a prim at your arrival point, put it in your Profile, put it wherever you want.
  23. Martini Discovolante teaches a clothing design class at Caledon Oxbridge University in world, on Saturdays. I believe it is at 3 pm SL time.
