  1. See the answer to this thread: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/I-can-no-longer-enter-a-skill-gaming-region-I-always-go-to/qaq-p/2856776
  2. That is a very old version of Firestorm and is no longer supported. Time to update your viewer! Download the latest version from http://www.firestormviewer.org/
  3. I think it is your Intel HD2000 integrated graphics. It's not really powerful enough for SL.
  4. Mesh Sandboxes 1,3, 4, 22 and MeshHQ 3 were the only regions I could find on the Aditi Map...at first I agree...Search is really weird on the Beta grid. It does produce a lot of Main Grid results. However, SOME of these regions also exist on the Beta grid. I was able to get to the Beta versions of Morris and Ahern, for example. The Vehicle Sandbox and the Kuula sandbox also exist on Beta
  5. Delete FaceBook. Problem solved! :smileyvery-happy:
  6. Linden Homes are sometimes in short supply, so not all the styles will be listed as available. You can pick one that is available, then abandon it and change to another style you like better by checking back often and seeing what's available. But if you don't want to wait, there's another option. You can abandon your Linden Home and buy a parcel of land anywhere on the Mainland. You won't be charged a monthly fee for the first 512 square meters, although you can buy a larger parcel (and pay the associated monthly land fee.) You can build or buy any house that will fit on your parcel, given its size and prim limits.
  7. Life meter? Food? Levels? Are you sure you are logged in to Second Life? Sounds more like The Sims.
  8. There is a known problem caused by iTunes, or iCloud, or one of those Apple iThings. I'm sure a MacPerson will jump in here and add more information for you. Or try Search.
  9. In the stock Linden Lab viewer, look at the login section at the top of the screen. Over to the right is a drop down box. Use this to select Second Life Main, then log in as usual. Other viewers have a similar choice on the log in screen to choose the grid you are logging into.
  10. This could be a couple of things. First, does it happen everywhere, or only when you are in one particular region, or with one particular person? If so, you may be affected by a device that you have given permission to animate you, and the device has taken the permission permanently. If you are using the Firestorm viewer, try Avatar/Avatar Health/Stop Animations and Revoke Permissions. If it happens everywhere, it could be a glitch. Again in the Firestorm viewer, put the Advanced menu on your top menu bar with CTRL+ALT+D (if it is not there already) and choose Advanced/Release Keys.
  11. His profile still shows in Search, so he's probably not banned, at least not permanently. Is he able to log on to the website here? If so, have him post here and tell us what error message he's seeing.
  12. I would also recommend that you use one of the free Standard Mesh Sizing shapes with the SLink hands and feet. I couldn't get my hands to fit properly until I did that. Once I did, it was an instant and perfect fit. Then I wrote down the facial settings from my old shape and set those with the Standard shape, so I still look like "me."
  13. Well, if you abandon it, you abandon the land it's on, so yes...you have to abandon your Linden Home, then buy land anywhere else on the Mainland. You will not be charged a monthly fee for the first 512 sq meters you buy. Be sure that your prefab home both fits the physical dimensions of your land and that the land has enough prims to rez the house, plus any furniture and landscaping you plan to add.
  14. Be sure you are using your friend's username, NOT their Display Name.
  15. You can upload test items to the Beta Grid at no cost.
  16. Zoe, This is the Answers forum, and all of here are just residents like you. We can't do anything to get you a refund or deliver your items. You will have to file a Support Case with Linden Lab. That's not likely to produce results in time for Halloween though. If the merchants have in-world stores, go there and purchase the items you want.
  17. The Ctrl Alt Studio viewer is an alpha version viewer in early development, intended to test the capabilities of the Oculus Rift 3D virtual world glasses (also in development) with Second Life. I suggest you try one of the more stable viewers, either the stock Second Life viewer or one of the popular third party viewers like Firestorm or Singularity. EDITED TO ADD: I see that you have tried several viewers. Unfortunately, the guys at Best Buy are not always the best source of information. The computer you bought uses "integrated graphics," not a dedicated graphics chip, and that might not be sufficient to run Second Life. I would take the computer back and exchange it for something that is running an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card. You could also try running SL as an administrator. That sometimes helps with a Windows 8 installation.
  18. When your account is placed on hold, it means that Linden Lab thinks you may have done something bad. As Beethros says, you should file a support case and inquire what it is that has caused them to suspend your account.
  19. That error message generally means that your computer has been permanently banned from Second Life by Linden Lab. This is done in the case of really serious Terms of Service violations. These violations may have been committed by you, by someone else using your computer for SL, or even by a previous owner of the computer, if you bought the machine used. Once in a great while, it's a mistake. Someone else has been banned from SL, and your computer got caught in the overkill. If you feel that the ban is in error, you can appeal it. Open a support ticket, and use Account Issue as your issue type. Explain the error message you are getting, and give LL any other pertinent information you can. However, don't be surprised if your appeal does not succeed. LL does not overturn hashtag bans very often.
  20. Besides Innula's excellent explanation, I have had times when SL weirdness makes notecards temporarily unreadable...even ones that I have created myself. If that's the case, they will most likely be fixed the next time you log in, or by logging in at a different location.
  21. You can play any sound in world. Double click it in your inventory to open a little window on your screen and then click Play in World. A sound can also be added to a Gesture. Open the Gestures window, and create a new gesture. Information on how to create gestures is here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Using-gestures-and-animations/ta-p/700069
  22. Pay very close attention to what Rolig said. MOST griefing can be dealt with by YOU. Don't wait for or count on help from Linden Lab, they are not your parents or the SL Police and they steadfastly refuse to get involved in most resident disputes. Some of the things you can do yourself: If you are not the land owner, you may need to ask your landlord or estate manager to help with some of them. - Ban the griefer(s) from your land - Put up ban lines to keep out multiple griefers, gangs, and unknown alts. - Turn on privacy on your land so they can't see you or hear local chat from your parcel...and vice versa. - Turn off object rezzing, object entry, and/or script use on your land except for group members. - Mute/Block the griefer(s). - Turn off particle visibility to avoid seeing ugly or offensive particle attacks. CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+= - File a separate Abuse Report for each violation of the TOS or Community Standards. Reference previous reports. If there are friends present, have each of them file a report, too. - Above all, DO NOT RESPOND in any way to a griefer. Don't show that you even notice them. Don't talk to them, don't show them that they are annoying you. Most of them will eventually get bored and go away if you don't feed their tiny egos by reacting. At the most, log off or teleport somewhere else for a while.
  23. The others are right. Prim carrying capacity depends on the size of the parcel, within a given region. And the prims of a free Linden Home can't be increased at all, because you can't buy more land on those regions. However, there are a couple of situations that can at least feel as if you're increasing your prims without buying a bigger piece of land, and neither of them requires a Premium membership. - You can rent land from another resident. Many landlords are willing to increase the prim allowance of a rental property, in return for a higher rental payment. In effect, you are "renting prims" rather than renting square meters. - You can look for land with a prim bonus. Some estate owners keep part of a region vacant, and allocate prims from it to other parcels on the region, in effect creating land that comes with more prims per square meter than the "standard."
  24. You can undock the nearby chat into its own window, and keep just the IMs in the IM window. That should reduce the problem of having the "focus" change on you unexpectedly.
  25. First, try rebooting your computer and your internet modem/router. If that doesn't work, try doing a clean install of your viewer. Instructions can be found here: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_reinstall
