  1. This bug was fixed in the development branch a while back. It should be making it's way into a release soon.
  2. Dogboat Taurog wrote: im sure we would all like better graphics, problem is you need a good graphical PC and a good line. which in my experience isnt many people. Yeah except that meshes will be faster to render than sculpties. People have pointed this fact out to you at least 5 times in this thread and yet you still refuse to believe it. everthings still grey, still rezzing, i cant see me, i cant see you, where am i, am i wearing clothes wheres my hair etc. That's funny, I don't have those problems...on viewer 2. I think Dogboat's arguments can be summed up as: haters gonna hate.
  3. Charolotte Caxton wrote: Hi Magnus, Void, and Leliel. Is that true? Anti aliasing won't work without FBO enabled? Sort of. There are some technical limitations with using deferred rendering and AA at the same time due to how the GPU works. However the hardware venders have added a lot of work arounds and special modes to do AA almost as well with a deferred renderer as with a forward renderer. But unfortunately the viewer doesn't make good use of them yet. So if you enable AA in the viewer then in your video card driver's control panel tell it to enhance the program's AA settings things should come out looking good enough, tho not always. YMMV
  4. You can do HDR with forward rendering and it will be anti aliased just fine. But not a whole lot of games use a forward renderer these days aside from sl and WoW.
  5. Void Singer wrote: [...] for programs that can't handle AA when HDR is enabled... HDR != deferred rendering.
  6. Your experience obviously differs from mine. Four years ago it was normal for the viewer to crash 20 times a day, and the sim to crash 10 times a day. Where as now I think I've had the viewer crash on me 10 times in the last 2 years, and sims crash maybe 5 times in the last 2 years. YMMV is as true as ever I guess.
  7. Darius Vayandar wrote: i mean whne i had an i3 and the 260gtx i got the exact same fps numbers. so i know my new hardware didnt improve it. The GTX 260 and HD 5770 have equivalent performance so it's not surprising that you get the same fps with them.
  8. Conifer Dada wrote: 1)Although my avatar shadow is stable, if I wear a system skirt, the shadow always shows a full-length skirt even if I'm wearing a short one. Sounds like a bug. You should file an issue in jira for it. 2)'Shiny' stopped working when I enabled shadows, even though I didn't change the graphics settings. Shiny still works, it just looks different, and much more realistic. Compare the spheres in this image with bump maps and shiny on, deferred on the right.
  9. The price seems a little high, but I've heard computers cost more in Europe. Other wise it looks like a good machine that will perform very well.
  10. Snowstorm is viewer 2, it's the name of group that works on it. You can read more about it here.
  11. ATI's OpenGL drivers were an order of magnitude better back when sl was starting out. It's only in the last 4 years or so that ATI stopped caring about OpenGL, and it took a while for it to get really bad. By that point sl's Mac & Linux user base was well established. Also keep in mind that ATI's DirectX drivers aren't much better. Just read up on any gamer forum about people that have to install driver A to play game A, then switch to driver B to play game B. You never hear about Nvidia users having to do that. ATI makes some really great hardware, but you couldn't pay me enough to uses their drivers.
  12. The Express 200M is not supported, and even if it was it would be unbearably slow.
  13. Phil Deakins wrote: @leliel. I did see that you agreed with the complaint and that it was only the idea of it being a rip-off that you disagreed with. I said words to the effect of, if LL refuses to give Steph satisfaction in the matter, then it most definitely will be a rip-off. It isn't one at the moment, but it would become one if LL doesn't either refund the full amount or change her ad to the correct amount. This I do agree with. Regardless of whether or not the classified performs well it was not for the amount Steph wanted. I think he should get a refund if requested and the customer service representative he talked to should be reeducated.
  14. Rodvik Linden is the CEO, Bagman Linden is the VP of (server) engineering I believe.
  15. Phil Deakins wrote: Your analogy doesn't work. A gallon of gas does exactly the same job as the next gallon of gas, regardless of whether 10 or 20 gallons were bought, but a 135,000L ad does a lot more than a 99,999L ad. Your analogy would work IF the difference in price ONLY meant a difference in how long the ad runs for. I'm not going to debate about this any more. As I said above in my edited post, I don't have a problem with asking for a refund. The claim of being ripped off is my only issue.
  16. Phil Deakins wrote: It's not difficult to realise how charging less than intended, and refusing to deal with it, is a rip-off. To be clear I don't have any problem with ranting about the poor customer service and demanding a refund. It's the claims of fraud and rip off (and talk of RL lawyers) that I'm against. You can think of it like this: suppose you order an expensive hi-fi - expensive because you want its quality and features. But they are out of stock of what you ordered and send you one that costs half as much and has half the quality and features. They also refund the difference in price. What you get costs you a lot less than you intended to pay but it's not what you ordered and not what you want. If the company refuses to take back what they sent to you, and refund the amount that they kept, then they are ripping you off. I think a better analogy would be if you ordered 20 gallons of gas but only got 10 gallons because that was all the gas station had left. Would you call those 10 gallons a rip off?
  17. Ciaran Laval wrote: I would imagine the amount chosen was to get prime placement, if you're not getting that the amount paid isn't worthwhile. If that were true then no one would bother with cheap classifieds. But that's clearly not the case given the wide range of prices paid for them.
  18. I'm failing to see how charging you less than the amount you entered is fraud and a rip off. Especially since the classified will perform as expected for the amount you did pay. The poor customer service you received as a result of this does suck tho. So rant on.
  19. Jenni Darkwatch wrote: Weird, it doesn't give me that line on my viewer... but then again, I'm neither on Windows nor using ATI: OpenGL Version: 4.1.0 NVIDIA 260.19.06 That's because Nvidia doesn't plan on getting rid of the immediate mode functions any time soon despite them being depreciated in OpenGL 3.1+, where as ATI can't wait to remove them.
  20. Void Singer wrote: does it allow you to play anims with it unchecked? Honestly it's the only one I've kept checked all the time back to viewer 1.2 I haven't played with avatar physics, because I just don't have a need/want on my avs (not enough there to bounce anyways) Yes it does. I think it should default off since things are so much easier that way.
  21. Void Singer wrote: leliel Mirihi wrote: The --login bug has been fixed I believe. only internally, it hasn't made it into the production viewer yet. Yeah I just saw that. I thought it had been pushed out to 2.6.2 but I guess not.
  22. Void Singer wrote: make sure you don't log in using a link with the --login first last password format, or the --noprobe options, as these (and perhaps others) are broken causing loss of certain menus, and limiting video memory. The --login bug has been fixed I believe. you can also open the file gpu_table.txt in the viewer directory and do a search and replace on the following search for: GTS 260 replace with: GTS 460 and also.. search for: GTS 26.* replace with GTS 46.* those will tell SL to treat you card as known, they default to the highest internal leval (high graphics) and and that it's supported... you can manually change your graphic to ultra from there. I think you mean GTX 260/460. But LL is finally going to update gpu_table.txt.
  23. Jenni Darkwatch wrote: OpenGL Version: 4.0.10151 Compatibility Profile Context That just means it's using pre OpenGL 3.2 features, i.e. the legacy immediate mode functions. The driver will always say that for as long as LL supports archaic hardware from a bygone era that's really too slow to be running SL anyway.
  24. Can you post a picture of what it looks like and tell us some more about your hardware? [Edit] Does it happen with all transparent textures or just some? Can you edit any of the ones it happens on, if so can you select the black face and set the color to white? If it already is white say so.
