The shared resources of SL grid are not being used. All things to excess; moderation is for monks. I have a bad feeling about this.
  2. Does the entire object disappear, or just parts of it? Because this kind of sounds like you're bumping into RenderMaxNodeSize.

NCI in Kuula? Sutherland Dam? Ahern Welome Area? Ivory Tower? I think it should be limited to landmarks that are clearly visable on the map. Mount G'al in Mahulu is the only one that comes to mind.
  4. Pardon my ignorance but when, exactly, did LL say you couldn't continue to use Phoenix/Firestorm until the end of time? Seriously LL open sourced the viewer specifically so that third party viewers like Phoenix could exist. Where did all this whining about how LL needs to make a viewer just like the TPV you already use or you'll leave come from?
  5. Try setting it to 4x and restarting the viewer. If it still doesn't look good can you post a screen shot.
  6. The viewer probably doesn't recognize the few weeks old GTX 550 Ti. Raise the graphics to ultra first and it should let you enable shadows then.
  7. The autobuld2010 branch was merged into viewer-development a few hours back so there is no difference now.
  8. ZOMG there's working avatar physics in the latest snowstorm build! An not only is there breast bouncing, but also belly and butt bouncing, butt swaying, and even more things I don't even understand. Get it here.

It's not my fault. 2) Yes Resize/recolour scripts in Hair and shoes have been taken to insane levels by inept creators...but they did know what they were doing, some were just lazy. Honsetly, it's not my fault. 3) Some users are just too bone-idle to remove or kill scripts in such objects. No really, it's not my fault! 4) Avatar script-limits was just a smoke-screen put up by the Lab to try to ameliorate a bad situation which was largely their own creation. Come on guys, why won't you believe be when I say it's not my fault? Yes, a lot of sim-lag is due to idiotic, or ignorant users who do not realise what effect their 250-prim, 250-script hair does to a server; but the root cause of this was a laissez-faire attitude among the Guardians of this medium. See, it's LL's fault for believing in me! Maybe a campaign of education of new, and not-so-new residents would be the place to start. Yeah right. That would be just like LL saying it was my fault.
  10. Blue Mars has an iPhone App. But it's just an avatar viewer, you can't do much of anything in it aside from change your clothes.
  11. Void Singer wrote: if that's for the whole system, you are oh so very screwed, because I can't imagine a card cheap enough to allow you to fit in with a system that light. Actually it's pretty trivial to build a system that can run with shadows enabled on that budget assuming he already has a monitor. GTS 450 $115 i3-2100 $125 MB $80 HDD $80 4GB DDR3 $40 Case $40 PSU $60 Total $540
  12. Do you mean $500 to $600 for the entire machine? Your best option from Nvidia would probably be the GTS 450, or a GTX 460 / GTX 550 Ti if you can find one for under $150. For ATI your best option at the moment is the HD 5770, altho the HD 6770 should be coming out soon. Also you'll some times see the HD 6850 1GB for under $150. Any one of these cards can run sl on ultra and have shadows enabled most, or all, of the time depending.
  13. You could try another viewer. I doubt any of them would be much faster, but they may not have this problem. Either the old viewer which you can find here http://download.cloud.secondlife.com/Second_Life_1-23-5-136262_Setup.exe Or a third party viewer which are listed here. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory
  14. Those are probably driver bugs, but since AMD stopped updating the drivers for it a while back I guess it means you're out of luck. Sorry T_T
  15. I believe that Catalyst 10.2 is the last supported driver for this chip. I assume that's the one you're using? Anyway starting the viewer with the --noprobe option may work. So first go to the installation directory for the viewer and make a short cut to SecondLife.exe. Then right click on the short cut and select properties, in the window enter the string "--noprobe" into the text field without quote marks. Then click OK to save it and double click on the short cut to start the viewer and hopefully it should work.
  16. The Radeon Xpress chips are not officially supported. Now having said that I will say that the 200M should be fast enough to run SL at pathetically low frame rates seeing as it's on par with the GMA 3150. What does the viewer say when you try to start it?
  17. The fastest way to get money for sl is to get a job in rl. Failing that you could build things and try to sell them.
  18. What's the signal strength for each? The weaker the signal the less interference they'll cause so if the networks on 1 or 6 are weak it would be best to use one of those channels. Or one slightly off, such as 7 or 8.

  20. You have to change it on your wifi router. How depends on the model and firmware version. Read the manual, search the web, or ask here if you want, I'll help if I can.
  21. I assume you're using the built in wifi browser on windows which I guess doesn't show the channel. I don't use windows myself so I'm not very good at recommending software for it. But a quick search did turn up this web based wifi browser http://tools.meraki.com/stumbler
