Script for Making Objects Appear and Dissapear
Rolig Loon replied to Clarity Mesmeriser's topic in LSL Scripting
And cephalopods? Octopi are our friends (smart little critters, too). -
Well, a cube is simple enough. I can't pop in world to field test this, but it looks right (unless I got the face numbering wrong)... vector Face_Ctr(integer face){ vector Size = llGetScale(); float x = 0.5*Size.x; float y = 0.5*Size.y; float z = 0.5*Size.z; list Axis = [<0.0,0.0,z>,<0.0,y,0.0>,<x,0.0,0.0>,<0.0,-y,0.0>,<-x,0.0,0.0>,<0.0,0.0,-z>]; vector Ctr = llGetPos() + llList2Vector(Axis,face)*llGetRot(); return Ctr;}default{ touch_start(integer num) { integer Face = llDetectedTouchFace(0); llSay(0,"The center of face " + (string) Face + " is at "+ (string) Face_Ctr(Face)); }} If that works, you ought to be able to do some simple geometry and work out ways to generate the list Axis for any regular solids. Once you start twisting, skewing, slicing or otherwise torturing them, of course, all bets are off.

You ought to be sure that the Edit Terrain box in Region/Estate >> Options is always UNchecked so that only group officers who have terrain permission in that role can change the land. The sim owner will need to contact Concierge Service and request a rollback. Do it very soon, though. The longer you wait, the more reluctant LL will be to roll back the sim.

How do i refresh textures (NOT rebake) in V3
Rolig Loon replied to Chalice Piers's question in Viewers
It's a Firestorm feature. LL hasn't adopted it yet. LL still makes a good, black Ford. If you want to drive something in a different color with whitewalls, you can choose a TPV. :smileytongue: -
Making goo come out of the tip of a flexi cone.
Rolig Loon replied to Lilgirlreborn Thor's topic in LSL Scripting
You can't. If you do that, it's no longer flexi. -
Others only see me offline and dwarfed...I have tried everything!
Rolig Loon replied to Starlett Nightfire's question in Avatar
It sounds very much like a connection problem. Bake fail is a symptom, but you won;t get a permanent cure unless the connection issue is solved. The trick is in finding out where the problem is. It's usually close to home --- your home -- but copuld be farther out. Take a very good look through Nalates's blog >>> http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ to see the steps you need to take to narrow it down. -
Marketplace Outbox Upload fails silently might be relevant. It's a slightly different problem, but maybe connected. Here's a workaround that seems to have solved the problem in that case .... 1. I bought the Linden Bear and waited for it to be delivered to my Recived items folder 2. Set preferences on my viewer to "Clear Cache". 3. I logged out of the viewer. 4. I logged out of marketplace website rahter than just closing the browser. 5. I logged back on to the viewer 6. Waited patiently for inventory to reload. 7. Opened the Merchant Outbox window and it finally Initialized allwoing me to drag items to it.

how many accounts can one person have in second life?
Rolig Loon replied to CristinaCoil's question in Account
Whether another person has alts is her own business. -
You're the only person who knows the answer to that question. Scripting is fundamentally an exercise in logic. Knowing the language is important, but a fairly small part of it. If you are a good problem-solver and can anticipate what will happen when you make choices, scripting may be easy for you. If you expect it to be a cookbook exercise that you can work your way through by applying formulas and syntax, probably not.

You either let someone else know your password or you clicked on a phishing site that spoofed SL's own web site and stole your login information. Either way, if you haven't already changed your password and reported that your account was compromised, it may be too late. Reporting it here doesn't do any good. There are no Lindens here, so there's no way they can know that there's something to investigate.

Don't panic. That page sometimes takes forever to react. Wait a couple of minutes to see if it wakes up. If not, download and install a different viewer -- go with Firestorm; you'll love it -- and accept the TOS when you log in with it. Then you can decide whether to stay with that viewer or go back and log in with the one you started with. You only need to accept the TOS once. After that, it doesn't make any difference which viewer you use. Free choice.
-
They don't call it a beta viewer for nothing. I suggest downloading the current V3 viewer, Firestorm, or one of the other viewers that are not beta versions.

I discovered the same thing, and discovered the answer by experimentation. Before you can use your Merchant Outbox for the first time, you need to christen it. You need to buy something from Marketplace and have it delivered to you so that the viewer can create a Received Items folder in your inventory. LL has created a freebie Linden Bear for that purpose. If you go to Marketplace, the bear is staring you in the face on the login page, along with a link that says Get It Now >> . Buy it, and your viewer immediately crashes. You panic and relog, and viola! There's a new Received Items folder in your Inventory with a Linden Bear in it. After that, you can drag items from inventory to your Merchant Outbox with no trouble at all. Then click the Send to Marketplace button and watch them all sail away. Refresh your browser while you have your listings open in Marketplace, and all of your items will have been re-marked as Direct instead of Magic Box. This (from the release notes) might be the answer to your other question ..... Note that the following two features are not activated--we expect to turn them on in the next couple of weeks: ANS Direct Delivery support for no copy (Merchant does not have copy rights) items

I know this isn't much help, Charolotte, but in Firestorm, it's Preferences >> Privacy >>Automatically view notecards, textures, landmarks after accepting. I don't use V3, so I cannot tell you whether there is a comparable setting there. :smileysad:

Turning the AO off is a good solution. Animations can be designed to have any one of four levels of priority. Each level trumps the one below it. If you are using an animation in your AO that has a higher priority than one in a gesture that you want to use, the AO will override it. (In fact, that's what the "O" in AO means. Animation Overriders are meant to override the low-level animations that we all have by default for walking, sitting, flying, and so forth.) If your AO is overriding your gesture's animation, it's only doing its job. Some AO's, like the built-in AO in Firestorm, can be trained to go to sleep when you sit down --- ignoring its own anims if you are sitting on something that has a sit animation in it, even a lower priority one. I've never seen an AO that will ignore gestures, though. BTW, you can't tell what priority level a specific animation has, except by trying it out and seeing how it survives against other anims.

Be very careful about downloading SL viewers from sites that you find in Google searches. There have been rumors of some sites that are either phishing for identity theft or are offering viewers with viruses in them. You can trust viewers that you download from https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/?lang=en-US or http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory . If you are trying to see mesh items you need a current v3 viewer, Firestorm, Phoenix, Singularity, or CoolView. There are probably others too, but those are on the top of my head.

Can't find how to set my timezone.. where is that?
Rolig Loon replied to TragerMaximoff's question in Account
If you're on a PC, The "correct" time is in the lower right corner of yoiur screen, where it has always been --- outside of Second Life. :smileywink: -
From the Release Notes .... Note that the following two features are not activated--we expect to turn them on in the next couple of weeks: ANS Direct Delivery support for no copy (Merchant does not have copy rights) items ETA: Nobody is requiring you to move all items from your Magic Box into the new system right away. Those no-copy items can stay right where they are for a while. Magic Boxes will continue to work even as DD is phasing in.

I returned everything on my land to my inventory why isn't it in there
Rolig Loon replied to SingPoetically Bluebird's question in Inventory
I agree with Valerie ... OUCH. It's rarely a good idea to return everything you own in a single coalesced lump like that. Before you rush to a sandbox to rez it, though, here are some things to think about ... Find a nice, BIG, empty sandbox to work in and stand as close to the middle as you can. Be very sure to open your Build/Edit tool (CTRL+3) before you rez the coalesced object. That way, the entire thing will be selected as it's rezzed. If you forget, and if some of the individual parts rez underground, inside other objects, or outside the sandbox, you'll have a real hard time finding them all and moving them individually. So long as you don't close your Build/Edit tool, though, you will be able to move the entire mass together. It's a good idea to lift it 50m off the ground to be really sure you know where everything is. Once you are sure that everything is visible and accounted for, then select objects one at a time and take them back to your inventory. When you are all done, use your Build/Edit tool again, with "Select By Surrounding" and "Select Only My Objects". Drag a selection rectangle around the place where you have been working and check for anything that is highlighted. It's easy to miss small or transparent objects. -
That's potenially confusing, so I wouldn't trust any automated system to get it right. If I were you, I would call Linden Lab's billing office and speak directly to a person to get it sorted out properly. The answer to your question would be simple, of course, if your property were on a private sim, since you can own private sim land as a Basic member. Here's where to call....... Toll-Free (US/Canada) 800.294.1067 Long-Distance 703.286.6277 LL's billing team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Local Toll-Free numbers * France: 0805.101.490 * Germany: 0800.664.5510 * Japan: 0066.33.132.830 * Portugal: 800.814.450 * Spain: 800.300.560 * UK: 0800.048.4646 * Support is in English Only
