  1. LOL ...:smileyvery-happy: I told myself that I wasn't going to make any more replies in this pointless thread, but I can't resist...... Secondly, your instance is unrreal . Never someone will spend money to make a gift to someone when the other is offline . @Nickel -- You have obviously (a) never sold anything in SL (b) never read the hundreds of complaints in our forums from people who have failed to receive items -- including gifts -- because they were not in world when the items were delivered. The situation that Innula described is very common indeed. People buy and send gifts whenever they like, often without knowing whether the recipient is logged in. Most people who receive gifts or their own purchases when they are not in world have no trouble at all. Very few end up refusing them when they log in. However, if they have received more than 25 IMs, group notices, group invitations, notecards, and objects while they were logged out, those items are never delivered. OK, now I really am done. :smileytongue:
  2. You stay enrolled as a Premium member for 45 days. That's when you get the L$1,000 bonus.

If you have only been watching the L$ figure in your viewer, it may be out of sync. Click it a couple of times (just the number, not the button that says "BuyL$".) Then check your Account >> Transaction History on your dashboard at secondlife.com, where the real account balance is kept. If that balance doesn't show your L$ purchase, then give the LL billing office a call and ask why. Linde Lab's billing team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 4. It sounds as if you have a problem with your graphics card. Check to be sure that your drivers are up to date and, if necessary, download and install current drivers from the manufacturer's web site: Nvidia Video Driver Latest driver Last checked Feb 6th- Windows: 285.62 (Oct 24) beta: 295.51 (Jan 31) - Linux: 290.1 (Nov 22)ATI Video Driver Latest driver Last checked Feb 6th- Windows and Linux: 12.1 (Jan 25)Intel Video Driver Intel driver download page Intel does not have a universal driver set. Please go to Intel's site and select the appropriate download. Also check very carefully to be sure that you are not having a problem with overheating. Open the case on your computer (if it's a desktop) and blow out any accumulated dust and cat hair with a can of compressed air. Test all fans to be sure that they spin freely. If you don't have temperature-monitoring software installed, check on the Internet for free programs, some of which will also control the speed of your fans if things start to get too hot. If you have a laptop, take it to a professional for cleaning if it has been more than 6-8 months. Be sure that you have adequate air flow under the laptop at all times.
  5. You're not going to get a Linden to respond here. It's just us SL residents, like you. You also don't need anything that is more definitive than the Community Standards, referenced in the TOS: "Remotely monitoring conversations in Second Life, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without the participants' consent are all prohibited." Nobody can decide on his own that anything less than that restriction is acceptable. Take a look at the many previous threads on exactly the same topic. For example >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Everything-Else/What-is-LL-s-take-on-those-who-say-quot-If-you-IM-me-you-consent/qaq-p/948787
  6. The same way you make any other prim (or sculpty or mesh) attachments. All of the mod kits you see on Marketplace are nothing more than collections of textured attachments that some creator took time to build. Practice your basic prim manipulation skills at someplace in-world like the Ivory Tower of Prims or by taking a class at a place like Builder's Brewery. If you haven't made sculpty or mesh objects before, that will take a bit of work. There's a very steep learning curve to learning how to use Blender or other 3D modeling tools. Take a look at the tools and tutorials for building and texturing at https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Creation_Portal to get a start.
  7. Not my instructions, and not anyone else's here either. As far as I can see, you have never asked here before. To abandon a Linden Home...... Pick up all of your stuff. Identify everything that belongs to you and then right-click on it and Take it back to your inventory. (Do not select several things at once and take them all in a single step. If you do that, they will all appear in your inventory as a single coalesced object, and you will have to rezz the entire thing again to get individual objects out of it.) Stand in your home and open your World >> About Land menu. Click the Abandon Land button. You will no longer own the land.
  8. Take a look at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/ma_linux_notes for suggestions about configuring Firestorm for Linux. You might also want to join the in-world Firestorm/Phoenix support group and ask your questions in chat. The support staff and volunteer helpers are quick and knowledgeable.
  9. If your account has been blocked, you should have received an e-mail from Linden Lab explaining why you were suspended or banned. It will also include instructions for filing an appeal if you think that the suspension was unjustified. Check your spam filter if you can't find the e-mail. Resetting the password won't make any difference if your account has been suspended. You won't be able to get in world with any password.
  10. Oh, well it will only work once unless you have copy perms on the object you're giving. If it's no-copy, then it's gone once you give it away.
  11. When you set a price for an object thatyou want to sell, you do that on the General page in your Build/Edit tool (CTRL + 3). You have three options at that point. You can click one of three buttons to sell (a) the object itself, (b) a copy of the object, or © the CONTENTS of the object. If your object is a box and you don;t want to sell the box, click the CONTENTS button. No script needed. If you're using a script with a money event, you can set it to accept only a specific amount of money in payment -- not giving options and not alllowing the user to type in an amount of his own choice. In general that is FAR betterthan using a script like this one, which has the facility to make change. Whenever you write a script that asks its owner to grant permisiion to debit hi own account for refunds, ther's a possibility that the script might be hijacked by thieves and used against the owner. Personally, I wouldn't use this script.
  12. Yes. I suspect that reselling in Marketplace is actively discouraged, if not outlawed. There used to be a "used items" section in the old SLExchange when I was a newbie, but it has been years since it vanished. Reselling in world, however, is still legal as far as I can tell.
  13. Assuming that you have each downloaded and installed a SL viewer , all you need to do is either log in at the same place or send each other an instant message when you are both in world. It's probably a good idea to learn some basic skills >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Second-Life-Quickstart/ta-p/1087919

  15. Have a little care for the person who created those items and is probably still selling them. You may be accused of copybotting the items and cheating the creator out of sales. There have been some robust discussions about that topic in the forums over the years ( See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Resell-items-you-ve-bought/m-p/813307#M4705 , for example) When I see resale items, it's usually at yard sales when groups are trying to raise cash for tier. That seems more benign than personal sales, I suppose.

  17. First you need to open the box it came in and unpack it >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Opening-boxes/ta-p/700185 Then you need to find the parts of your outfit in inventory and wear them >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Editing-your-appearance/ta-p/700709
  18. I have no idea. According to the Linden Realms FAQ page: "If you ... were not able to resolve your issue, please create a support case on the Second Life customer support site. If the issue is particular to a specific inworld location or object, please provide the name of the object, along with the coordinates and Linden Realms instance number."
  19. That's very odd. I think the only way you're going to get this one sorted out is to call the billing office and ask for their help. LAND EDIT RIGHTS

Create a group with you and your wife as members, and set the land to that group. Then use World >> About Land >> Options to set the relevant permissions for group members. See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Group-owned-land/ta-p/700079 Of course, I assume that your wife is also on your Friends list, so you can click the icon that gives her permission to edit your objects no matter where they are. See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Friends-and-partnering/ta-p/700067#Section_.4
  22. You're going to have to be much more specific about what "something" says when it pops up. "It failed" isn't helpful at all. Error messages are some of the best clues for finding out exactly what went wrong. While you're adding that information, tell us about your computer, its graphics card, its operating system, its Internet connection, and anything else you can share. Also, when does this thing pop up? While you are logging in? When you try to teleport? Some other time? To add information, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  23. You can't tell, except by asking. One account is like another, and the TOS guarantees us privacy with our RL information. In fact, if someone discovered the person's RL identity somehow and divulged that information to you, s/he could be suspended or banned from SL. That's precisely what happened to the creator of RedZone last year. You don't have to know a person's RL identity to limit his or her access to your land. Why don't you just do that and get it over with? If you have documented evidence that the person has violated the TOS, you can file an Abuse Report as well. BTW, you may want to remove your e-mail address from your question unless you really like getting spam e-mail from strangers. This is a public forum. :smileywink:
  24. It's been ages since I used X-Y Text, so I don't recall many details. It ought to work right out of the box, though. I suppose it's possible that the servers in OpenSim handle it differently than the servers in SL. That would be easy enough to check by simply rezzing your message board in SL and seeing if it works here. If the problem really is somehow related to OpenSim, you'll have to ask someone in a forum over there for guidance. You might also try using a different script entirely. X-Y Text has been largely superceded by https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/XyyyyzText and https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/XyzzyText , both of which are in the LSL wiki's library. See if either of them behaves any better.
