  1. I'm afraid that "nothing works" isn't a very helpful description of the problem. First, you need to tell us what kind of computer you are using and what sort of Internet connection. Then tell us exactly what you mean by "nothing." Error messages? When does "nothing" happen? What does it look like? What have you tried already? Give us something to work with. Most of all .... DO NOT add this information here, in someone else's two month old dead post. If you want anyone to see it, start a NEW question of your own.
  2. KiskaNirpaw wrote: [...] I checked the knowledge base, and it says that VISA supports USD... No, the Knowldge Base says that Linden Lab accepts VISA credit cards. It makes no mention of debit cards. That's why I refered you to the Billing Office.
  3. Be very careful about using Third Party currency exchanges. Not all of them are trustworthy businesses. Some are reputed to be phishing sites that are designed to steal your login and account information. Some of them also charge very high exchange rates, compared to the Lindex. This compilation of Third Part exchanges has not been kept up to date, but ones on it have been tested by Linden Lab's Risk API and have passed. Linden Lab does not support or vouch for them, but they can be considered more reliable than ones that you grab blindly off the Internet.
  4. Linden Lab accepts very few debit cards. You should probably call the billing office to find out if yours is one of the few. If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team at the following toll-free numbers: US/Canada: 800-294-1067 France: 0805-101-490 Germany: 0800-664-5510 Japan: 0066-33-132-830 Portugal: 800-814-450 Spain: 800-300-560 UK: 0800-048-4646 Brazil: 0800-762-1132 Long distance ( not free, but you can use Skype to save some cost ) : 703-286-6277 **Note: Support is offered only in English
  5. The 0xc000005 error may be caused by windows system files damage. Corrupted system file entries can be a real threat to the well being of your computer but they are easy to repair. There can be many events which may have resulted in the system files errors. An incomplete installation, an incomplete uninstall, improper deletion of applications or hardware. It can also be caused if your computer is recovering from a virus or adware/spyware attack or by an improper shutdown of the computer. All the above actives may result in the deletion or corruption of the entries in the windows system files. This corrupted system file will lead to the missing and wrongly linked information and files needed for the proper working of the application. 1) Start your computer and log on as an administrator. 2) Click the Start button then select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Restore. 3) In the new window, select "Restore my computer to an earlier time" option and then click Next. 4) Select the most recent system restore point from the "On this list, click a restore point" list, and then click Next. 5) Click Next on the confirmation window. 6) Restarts the computer when the restoration is finished.
  6. The overall problem is that your viewer and SL's servers have temporarily lost the ability to talk to each other. Yes, the router is often the weak link in the Internet connection. You may be able to solve your problem by unplugging the router from the power for a few minutes (not just disconnecting its data cable) so that it can clear its RAM and get a fresh look at an IP address. If you router is more than a couple of years old, you may need to think about buying a replacement, too. Like any piece of electronic equipment, it can wear out, primarily from overheating, with time. The other possible solution is to add Google's free public DNS servers to whatever your ISP assigns you as a default. Here's how >>> http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ It's not a difficult process.
  7. If it's on your Transaction History, then you can see exactly where it went. If it's just your in world balance that's odd, though, don't worry about it. The in world total gets out of sync with your Transaction History sometimes. All you have to do is relog, or sometimes just click on the L$ sign (not the Buy L$ button) to trick it into resyncing.
  8. Possibly not, but it can't hurt to try. Contact the merchant and explain what happened. If the item came with Copy permissions, it's fairly clear that you didn't need to buy extras. This is entirely between you and the merchant, though. Linden Lab doesn't get involved in things like this.
  9. If you are writing one and want to post it to show where you are stuck, we can take a look at it. If you are looking for a pre-made script or someone to write a script for you, try the Wanted forum or the Inworld Employment forum.
  10. Here's a selection of reading matter that may help.... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-improve-Viewer-performance/ta-p/1316923 http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_very_laggy https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Lag This is a very large topic. Some sources of lag are beyond your control, but it helps to know which things you CAN do something about.
  11. Trying a different browser is the best idea. For some reason, SL and IE don't play well together. Use Firefox or Chrome. They behave much better.
  12. It's like any other software that you download. Find it in your hard drive and double click to install it. Actually, if you go to the manufacturer's web site, it will usually have instructions too.... Mac drivers are included with OS upgrades. However, to determan what card you have, select “About this Mac” from the Apple menu, then click “More Info”. Under Hardware select Graphics/Displays If you are not sure what type of video card you have, use GPU-Z found (win only) here. For linux, in a console use: lspci | grep VGA Nvidia Video Driver Latest driver Last checked Feb 6th- Windows: 285.62 (Oct 24) beta: 295.51 (Jan 31) - Linux: 290.1 (Nov 22)ATI Video Driver Latest driver Last checked Feb 6th- Windows and Linux: 12.1 (Jan 25)Intel Video Driver Intel driver download page Intel does not have a universal driver set. Please go to Intel's site and select the appropriate download.
  13. Try relogging. That can sometimes clear the problem. If not, then reboot your router. Just unplug it for a few minutes and plug it back in again. Oh, and get rid of the wireless.
  14. It's quite easy. As long as the root prim of your linkset is on the sim, the rest of it can hang off the edge. So make a monster off-sim structure if you like, but let its root prim be a small, transparent prim that you set on the sim itself. The only really limitations are the linking limits of linksets (number of prims and distance between them). It doesn't make any difference whether the struicture is made of native prims, sculpties, or mesh. A linkset is a linkset.
  15. Buy a bear here >>> https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Direct-Delivery-Linden-Bear/3290638 . Accept delivery and then log out. Log back in again and you should be good to go.
  16. The problem, including your cloudy appearance, is a crummy Internet connection. It may be good enough to do ordinary things like e-mail and web browsing, or even some on-line games, but it is evidently having trouble meeting SL's expectations. You may be able to get somne relief with a couple of simple moves. First, if you're on wireless, get rid of it. Wireless gives a lot of SL residents headaches. It's not designed to handle the continuous back-and-forth data traffic that SL demands, and it loses bandwidth to all sorts of interference. Use a direct cable connection instead. Second, try rebooting your router. All you have to do is unplug it from the power for a few minutes to clear its RAM and let it get a fresh look at an IP address. See if those two steps help. If not, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT to let us know and add any information. Please do NOT start a new thread. That would make it hard for other people to follow what's been suggested and add their own help.
  17. Do you have a question? If so, please state it in 25 words or less. Thank you. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  18. I was just going back to look at unresolved questions and ran across yours. Several people have had the same problem since you posted this. The answer is in the last addition you made when you edited your OP on 3/8/12. See Microsoft Skydrive: Viewer crash on any file browser operation . Skydrive is interfering with the internal browser, so disable it.
  19. I'm glad you found me in world. Good luck with this, Missy.
  20. Do you have payment information on file? Your approval isn't complete until you do.
  21. No, we can't help at all. We are all SL residents just like you. No Lindens ever come here. Even if they did, Lindens never get involved in disputes between residents. I'm afraid there's not much hope. A landowner (in this case, the shop owner) can ban anyone she wants to. She doesn't need a reason at all. In this case, unfortunately, she actually had a reason. If she doesn't want to listen to your explanation, that's her choice. You'll just have to move on. Buy her merchandise through Marketplace or go to the in-world store as an alt .... quietly.
  22. Check your Transaction History at secondlife.com >> Account. If your Transaction History shows that you have paid L$ to each of the merchants, then they have received it. You should be able to show them a transaction ID, which should show up in their own Order history in Marketplace. If your own Transaction History does not show that L$ have gone outt, then you still have the L$ in your account. Delivery can be messed up in at least two common ways. First, if you put too many things in your shopping cart (more than two), the cart can get confused. It's much smarter to use the Buy Now option instead of the shopping cart. Second, if you are not in world when things are delivered, they can be automatically rejected by your mailbox. That's especially likely if you have ordered many things at once. The system will save up to 25 items (notecards, IMs, Group notices, group invitations, and sent objects) before it is capped. Anything over 25 is thrown away permanently. At this point, since you have had no luck dealing with the merchants, file support tickets and see if Linden Lab can spring things loose. Go to https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ and file your detailed request under the category Marketplace >> Failed Marketplace Delivery .
  23. If you want to "decorate" your clothes, you'll have to learn how to create clothing textures in a program like Photoshop and bring them into SL. Otherwise, you will have to buy clothing that other SL residents have created. You will find a very large selection in the Marketplace and in thousands of shops in world. I am not sure what the rest of your message means. If you want to explain further, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  24. Possibily because the word is "do", not "Do". Incidentally, check out the LSL function llVecDist() . :smileywink:
  25. Unfortunately, it is possible to burn out a graphics card (or chip --- I suspect that your laptop actually has an integrated graphics chip) by overloading it. It's probably a good idea to find a hardware service shop and have them check it over for you. If you saved any helpful information -- pics, chat logs, your Bumps & Hits record -- it would be smart to submit an Abuse Report. You'll have to log on with another machine to do it, though ........
