  1. Sometimes it doesn't. People have had problems giving gifts from Marketplac for a long time. I suggest 1. Try giving L$ instead. That way, your frind can buy what she wants instead of what you want. 2. Take your friend shopping in world and have fun shopping together --- you pay. 3. If you really want to try using Marketplace for sending a gift, try changing your web browser. Firefox and Chrome work much better than Internet Explorer.
  2. See https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LLS_How_to_submit_a_Support_Ticket :smileyhappy:
  3. Cool! If you're a good writer, that IS easy money.
  4. Yes, I read the same posts. Thing is, people post when they have problems. When they don't have any, they don't post. So there's a sampling bias in the forums. That's why I can't tell whether most people are trouble free, like me, or whether I'm leading a charmed life. Since I've never been particularly charmed in other parts of my life, I suspect that the first possibility is the correct one, though.
  5. Hmmm... good point, Innula. I was assuming, maybe incorrectly, that the furniture parts would be textured and have a white color, which would make it easy. llSetLink Alpha would simplify things, though.
  6. It's your house. If someone is bothering you, ban them from the property and file Abuse Reports. Also, remember that nobody can "kill" you in Second Life. The worst they can do, if you are on a sim where damage is allowed, is send you home. But of course you are already home. :smileywink: BTW, you can create a group and invite your friends to join it. Set your parcel to the new group and then your friends can also declare that your house is their "home."
  7. Are you using the Firestorm viewer? Did you accidentally type CTRL + Alt + P and make your avatar phantom? You can toggle it again to get back to being non-phantom, or you can go to Avatar >> Movement >> Phantom.
  8. No. See the LSL wiki reference I gave you for the proper syntax.
  9. Not legally, so if they do, they'll be banned. It happened to Red Zone last year. Besides, an IP address is an unreliable way to tell who you are. Too many people share the same IP address in a dorm, coffee shop, or workplace.
  10. Hang out where you see other people -- watch for the green dots on your mini-map -- and then walk up and say Hi. If you want to increase your chances of meeting people who share your interests.... Try joining a group. (Try http://search.secondlife.com , type a likely keyword, an select "groups"). Visit places in the Destination Guide, or clubs, or musical events (Second Life's 9th Birthday bash opened today!) and talk to people. You can right click on any person and select "Profile" to see what they might be interested in --- sort of an icebreaker for a first conversation. ( Put information in your own profile so that other people can see what you are interested in too. ) Post an introduction in the Make Friends forum here.
  11. Uh-oh. There should be a button labeled "Sync Marketplace with Magic Boxes" way at the top of the Manage Listings page, above the list of your Unassociated Inventory Items. I'm not sure what it means if that button is missing. FWIW, I know that some people have had headaches with the new Direct Delivery system. I moved my items over to DD a couple of months ago, however, and have had zero problems (knock on virtual wood). There have been no failed deliveries, no lost inventory, no listing errors ..... I can't tell whether I am in a tiny minority of lucky merchants or in a huge majority of silent ones who have been untouched by the plague that is cursing the minority. Sooner or later, of course, everyone will have to abandon the Magic Boxes and move to DD. Maybe the gods are telling you that this is your time. :smileytongue:
  12. One possibility is that you have set Maximum Bandwidth (in Preferences >> Internet & Cache) too high. For best performance, it should be set to about 75% of your normal download speed (see http://www.speedtest.net/ ). The reason that's a potential problem is that Maximum Bandwidth tells your viewer how much of your available bandwidth to reserve for basic functions like rendering textures, keeping track of where things are, communicating, and handling environmental variables. Max Bandwidth doesn't take voice or streaming media into account. As a result, if you have it set too high, voice and streaming media may stall repeatedly or, if the demand is really high, you may crash because your viewer simply doesn't have enough bandwidth to do everything.
  13. In Marketplace >> My Marketplace >> Manage Listings, did you click to sync your Magic Box with Marketplace?
  14. Yes, you should have received your first stipend last Tuesday. Call billing to find out why you didn't. If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team at the following toll-free numbers: US/Canada: 800-294-1067 France: 0805-101-490 Germany: 0800-664-5510 Japan: 0066-33-132-830 Portugal: 800-814-450 Spain: 800-300-560 UK: 0800-048-4646 Brazil: 0800-762-1132 Long distance ( not free, but you can use Skype to save some cost ) : 703-286-6277 **Note: Support is offered only in English
  15. In general terms, yes, but of course you don't want to change PRIM_FULLBRIGHT. You are looking to change PRIM_COLOR, which includes the parameter for alpha. The comments in the example you posted also tell you exactly what it is doing, which is not what you want your script to do. You want to turn only the selected child prims from an alpha of 1.0 to 0.0, or vice versa, so your script will need to a. identify the prims to be affected and b. include a way to switch them from one state to the other when you sit/stand. Study http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast and basic looping/branching logic (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Category:LSL_Flow_Control)
  16. Taking the message at face value, I'd say that your avatar appearance is missing some body part (eyes, maybe?) and that your viewer or the servers are trying to resolve the omission by loading a default. All avatars have to have a skin, for example, so if your viewer can't find the skin that it thinks you are supposed to be wearing, it should find a basic newbie skin to use instead. I'm just guessing here, but if I'm right, you ought to be able to fix the problem by clearing your cache manually. The following instructions were written by the Firestorm support team but apply with only minor obvious changes to any viewer..... Open Preferences → Network & Cache. Go to the first path “Cache Location” and click the “Open” button behind the path. This will open a file explorer window displaying your current cache location. Logout (close the viewer) and then delete everything inside the cache folder displayed in your file explorer. Should you not be able to start the viewer to bring up Preferences, then locate the folder manually. In its default location, the folder is hidden on most OSs. To find it, you will need to show hidden folders. Now you need to locate the settings folder: Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[uSERNAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\Firestorm Windows Vista: C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Firestorm Windows 7: C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Firestorm Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firestorm linux: ~/.firestorm/cache Now continue as follows: Log back into SL, to a quiet region (try the Phoenix Support parcel or a Linden water region such as aich or hatton). On your inventory window, click “Recent Items”. Wait for your inventory to repopulate fully. The process may be sped up, if necessary, by typing random letters into the search bar. While inventory repopulates, do not teleport anywhere, and do not attempt to access anything in your inventory. Talk to people or surf the web. Watch as it repopulates. as long as you can see (Fetched…) at the top of the inventory window, it is still loading. Once inventory has repopulated, log out of SL once more, then log back in.
  17. There has been a problem with partnering for a while. See https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4154 and add your own comments . The problem seems primarily to affect people who have been partnered previously, perhaps because a previous partnership was not dissolved correctly in LL's database. Whether that is you situation or not, your observations might help LL's developers find a way to clear the problem.
  18. Hi, MsDel -- Did you try the advice that Angel gave you when you had this problem back in early February? It remains the best advice. 1. Clear your web browser's cache (in the Tools >> Internet Options menu of your browser) or, if that doesn't work .... 2. Change to a different web browser (Firefox and Chrome work much better with Marketplace than IE does) or, if even that doesn't work..... 3. File a support ticket under the category "Marketplace >> General Marketplac Issues"
  19. When you write your script, all you have to do is put either llSetLinkAlpha or, better, llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast(link_number,[PRIM_COLOR]) into the changed event that manages the sit. Name the child prims that need to be changed and then apply the change to all of them by name in a loop.
  20. It's likely that someone has created an object that is spoofing you, so that everyone who receives messages from it thinks they are coming from you. It's unfortunately easy to do, and hard to stop. You'll have to get one of your friends to help. Next time one of them gets a spam message, ask them NOT to delete it right away, but to left-click on the name next to the message in chat. The name will be yours, of course, but the information in the window that opens will be information about the object that is using your name. Among other things, it will tell exactly where the object is. You can TP to the spot and delete or return it, if you have perms to do that, or AR it so the Lindens can remove it.
  21. You mean something like this >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/LSL-Scripting/Need-help-with-a-camera-tracking-an-object/m-p/1450567/highlight/true#M9683 , only simpler, since you don't need to have your remote camera be mobile?
  22. You are risking having your multiple, repeated questions rejected by the moderators as spam. You have been answered in extremely simple terms. The topic itself is very basic. Several people have now answered in detail and have explained how to edit a question in Answers. To add information to a question, click on the OPTIONS link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  23. To abandon land, stand in your parcel and select World >> About Land >> General >> Abandon Land. Also, go to your dashboard at secondlife.com and select Land Manager >>> Land Use Fees and reduce yours to L$0. BTW, it would be wise to stop creating new threads. It's very hard for people responding to know what you have already asked and how others have responded. If you have additional quetions or want to add more information to a question, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
