  1. Hiya Mystic, There is no e-mail in Second Life. There is the internal messaging system that you use to chat privately with other residents. When you are in-world, those messages come directly to you, real-time, in the viewer. If you log out and someone sends you an IM, it will be queued until you log-in again, at which time you'll receive it in the viewer. If you want to see these messsages while you are offline, you can have them forwarded to your existing external e-mail address. To do this, log-in to your SL web dashboard, click on "Contact Information" and check "I would like to receive offline IMs via Email". You can also communicate with others via your feed, which you'll find by logging into my.secondlife.com. That system can also notify you of messages there by sending ticklers to your e-mail address. You'll find those controls under the "Notifications" tab of the "Settings" page.
  2. Hi Novelas, There may be an AO out there with a perfectly still animation, but I've not seen one. If you are trying to freeze your avatar for taking snapshots, perhaps because the eyes keep following the camera, here's how to do it... Notice that you can freeze your avatar in the middle of any animation, so if you are fast on the draw, you can freeze yourself mid-dance, mid-fall, mid-jump, etc. Although you will see the selected attachment highlighted on your screen, it will not show up that way in the snapshot. Good luck!
  3. Hi Agent, Make sure you are exporting the sound as 16-bit WAV at 44.1KHz. I imagine you are already doing that. The last step before exporting should to select the entire clip, then pick "Normalize" from the Effect menu. Make sure "Remove any DC offset" is checked and "Normalize maximum amplitude to:" checked, and set to somewhere between zero and -1.0dB. This will scale your entire clip so that the loudest sound is just below clipping. That said, I can't explain why your clips sound fine when played in Media Player, but not in SL. If Rolig's and my suggestions don't help, come back and edit your question (Using the Options pulldown on the right) so we can continue working on it all in one place without pushing other people's questions off the front page. Good luck!
  4. Rolig Loon wrote: Yes, if you have rezzed objects that are not set to the same group as the sim, they will be returned if you then activate autoreturn. It's late to do anything about it now, but remember for the future to never use autoreturn if you even suspect that you have items that are not set in the group. Take Maddy's advice about locating coalesced objects in your inventory. Coalesced objects are a handy feature, but they can be tricky to deal with. You may also want to read here to be sure that you understand the concept. A couple of things that are not usually well-understood: 1. it is wise to open your Build/Edit tool (CTRL + 3) before you rez any coalesced object. That's because the parts of a coalesced object are not linked --- they are simply packaged together in inventory. Once you rez the object, the parts will be independent again unless they are rezzed while your Build/Edit tool is active. While you have total control of the object, you can move it around, see any parts that may have rezzed underground or on your neighbor's parcel, and adjust. 2. Especially if you do not know how big the coalesced object is, be careful to rez it as close to the middle of your parcel as you can, so that it does not lap onto someone else's land. Even better, rez it on a sky platform in the middle of your land. Finally, if you use Firestorm's "Restore to Previous Position" function, as Maddy suggests, you should know that it will not work unless you are on the sim where the objects are supposed to rez. Even then, the function will fail unless you have permission to rez objects at the extreme SW corner of the sim (<0.0,0.0,0.0>). That's because the "Restore to Previous Position" function rezzes things at that spot and then moves them to their final position. You need to have permission to rez there and that parcel cannot be too full to handle your prims. Oooh, that's a bunch of stuff I either didn't know, or didn't think about. Thanks Rolig!
  5. Oooh, I went to check out this Tiny marketplace community and the first two advertisements were for a certain popular male attachment. I guess size does matter!
  6. Hi Tor, The objects will be found in the "Lost and Found" folders of their respective owners. They'll be aggregated into "coalesced objects" which have an icon that looks like a little pile of boxes. If you've been using Firestorm, you can right click on the those things and select "Restore to last position" which may put everything back where it was. If that works, you might still find a few objects in the <0,0,0> corner of your sim, under water. You'll have to drag those leftovers back to where they belong. If you are using the standard SL viewer, you'll have to rez the coalesced objects, then find all the pieces and relocate them. Good luck!
  7. Resize scripts are the best thing that ever happened to SL...

But it's not fair I tell you, not fair at all! Ahem... friendly advise from an Advisor... :matte-motes-sunglasses-3: :smileywink: No need to be involved in the answers section to get an Advisor rank. I had no posts there at all when my rank was raised to an Advisor. I was scratching my head what did it? The only thing what I can think of is that when one has a certain number of kudos for their posts the rank will be upped from Member to Advisor. So all Members interested to get (cool :smileytongue:) Advisor rank should start posting good posts to those forum areas where kudos are enabled. Good luck! :matte-motes-big-grin: PS. To get a next higher rank; I have no idea at all what one must do. Well, the ranks do not mean much anyway. :smileyindifferent: I thought only the Answers section had KUDOS enabled. But TBH, I hate the Answers section. There is just something about the way it is formatted that feels like chalk on a black board to me. I have tried using it a few times and grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I may be stuck forever in my lowly state. We may all be stuck. To earn badges, you have to help people. To help people, you need people to help. Traffic here is declining. I agree, the design of the Answers section seems intended to dissuade us from helping. As a result, most questions are asked in the forums, where you can not vote for the quality of the answer, nor earn kudos to advance your rank. The Lithium software in particular, and customer relations in general, seems outside LL's wheelhouse (I'm trying to avoid the word "competence" ;-)
  10. Hiya Destynee, I'm not sure just what you are asking for, but if you want a script that randomly says something like "Male" or "Female" when you touch the thing it's in, this should do it. I've written it to be easy to expand to larger lists of choices. Just add more genders to the list, just like real life does! ;-) list genderList = ["Male", "Female"]; default { touch_start(integer total_number) { integer length = llGetListLength(genderList); // Get the number of items in the list integer index = llFloor(llFrand(length)); // Generate a random index into the list, constrained to valid values llSay(0, llList2String(genderList, index)); // Say the selected gender } } If this is not what you had in mind, come back to your question, select "Option" on the right and edit it to tell us more. Don't ask a new question, as that will split our responses to you and push other people's questions off the front page. Good luck!
  11. Hi Rillieno, It sounds like you have rezzed the boxes and copied/moved the contents to your inventory. The next step is to find the clothing items in your inventory and right click on them to select "Add" or "Wear" to put them on. "Wear" will replace any similar item (top, undies, hair, etc) with the selected item in your inventory, "Add" will leave what you are already wearing in place and add the inventory item. So be careful which you choose, most of us don't look good wearing two hairstyles at the same time! Here's are a couple short videos that might help get you going... If I've misunderstood you (I do that!), come back to your question, select "Options" and edit in any additional info that can help us solve your problem. Good luck!

  13. Hi Dulcie, It's possible the griefer rezzed a bunch of things that overloaded your graphics processor, causing your viewer to crash. Linden Labs appears unable to prevent this type of exploit, so I'm afraid the only solution is to move away from where the griefers are operating or perhaps reduce your draw distance so the things they rez are not in view. I also recommend filing an abuse report on the griefer as well as reporting the attack to the club's owner.
  14. There may be some overlap with the site Rolig recommended at this site... http://dwellonit.taterunino.net/sl-statistical-charts/ Note that some of the charts are not current, as LL has stopped providing the data.
  15. Shelby Silverspar wrote: Just a word of warning, be careful with gifts from unknown sources, especially gifts that contain parts you must "attach" to your avatar - nefarious folks sometimes hide evil scripts inside those. Not accusing anyone of anything, it's just good advice. Don't want to see you posting something about "I tried on a new necklace and all of a sudden my avatar is distorted and I can't fix it!! HELP!" or something like that! Oooh, yes! This is SL. Sometimes you DO look a gift horse in the mouth!
  16. If they transferred an object to you, or you received it as a gift from the marketplace, a record of it should be in your transaction history. I don't know why you don't see it. You can, as I described in an ETA to my other post, look in your IM chat logs for a file created on the day you received the gift, named for someone not in your friend's list. If you've enabled IM logging, that file will contain any IM they sent you. If you received a notecard, that will show who created it, and if you sort by date, it will be near the top of your notecard list.
  17. Hi Chai, Log into your web dashboard and look in Account->Transaction History. The gift will show up there. ETA: Once you've figured out the name of the donor, you can dig into your viewer's support folder for your avatar folder to find a log of the IM they sent (if you've enabled IM logging). That's probably in the viewers Application Data folder or something like that, I'm not a PC person. On a Mac you'llfind it in Library/Application Support/Viewer_name/Avatar/donor_name.txt . You get to the Library folder by holding down option when you click on the "Go" menu. "Library" will appear in the menu. Good luck

  19. Rolig Loon wrote (more than I've quoted): I like to think that I have enough talent to hold my own against refrigerator art. I liked to think that of myself as well, until... http://www.applianceart.com ;-)
  20. This has happened to me as well. Toggling "Tap-tap-hold to run" in Preference->Move&View->Movement has sometimes fixed it, otherwise a relog. Good luck, Charlie!
  21. The B-17 shadow from the B-52 was one of my favorite things about "Dr. Strangelove", maybe because none of my friends noticed it. I thought Kubrick had done it purposely, but I've since learned (thank you Internet) that the only aerial movie footage he could get of terriain that could pass for Russia was shot from a B-17. In the movie "Airplane" the jet makes a prop plane sound, a clear (to me, if nobody else ;-) tip of the hat to "Dr. Strangelove".
  22. I rez a box, set it phantom (so it won't push me out of the way), then drag it so it half enters my body. Then I stretch it up to just cover my head (I remove my hair) and down to just cover my foot (I remove my heels). Then I look in the edit window to see how tall the box is. This requires a bit of camming around, sometimes under the floor if my hover height is wrong, but it can be done.

  25. If this is a Seven Seas question, you might have better luck (you couldn't have worse than here ;-) asking it over at the Seven Seas Fishing Forum. Cast your line over here... http://www.7seasfishing.com/forum/index.php If this is not a Seven Seas question, then I'll tell you how I do it... First I trick people into falling into one of my worm barrels, which I lash flush with the dock's edge, their bottoms in the water (this keeps the worms cool and moist). I'm fairly nefarious, so it's not hard to do. Then I give them a few seconds to gain their bearings and develop a truly heartfelt desire to get out of the barrel. Once they're ready, I extend my hand in what appears to be an offer to help, while asking for what I believe is a fair "tip". If they refuse to pay, I cut the rope and watch them float away. Good luck Addicted!
