  1. Never underestimate the power of stupidity, people saying they have read content they haven't read at all... Actually, I suppose the client is actually lying to you in one regard or another, besides failing to state the full expectations of the custom work. Either the script wasn't even tested, thus the client couldn't tell how well it may work, or he wasn't even in touch with other scripters and is making up that stuff. Or both. But anyway, done deal. Time to shrug it off and move on.
  2. Both of you should have communicated more clearly beforehand. The customer stating that they'd expect a full perm script as the end product and you could have pointed to your conditions, like "no mod as explained in the profile picks". To make that random car example more case-specific: if the client had intended to buy a whole car from you, you would have discussed its colour at some point. Otherwise, the client might expect to get a red car, while you might only sell blue ones. Personally, I don't trust in any "hit me up to fix your issues at any time" ... never worked for me.
  3. Are you using a mesh body or the standard classic avatar, the one with a system shape? For a mesh body, you should be looking for clothing appliers working with your specific body. On your body, you'll usually have 3 layers for clothing and/or body effects - tattoo, underwear and clothing. These layers usually differ in their manners of skintight fitting... the tattoo layer literally being directly on top of the skin, underwear with a little distance, clothing with a bit of gap. However, you should also find mesh clothes ... those "things" you describe ... if they are labeled as fit mesh or specifically labeled for a mesh body. Unlike the stiff standard sizing sizes labeled from XXS to L, those adaptive meshes will usually work with more curves on your shape. If it's the classic shape, try search terms like system clothes, classic ... anything but mesh and appliers.
  4. Since the OP isn't coming back anyway... Thank you. The summary isn't quite correct, though. I'm specifically arguing that a GTX 1060 with 3 BG VRAM isn't worth a recommendation and that a GTX 1050 ti is highly likely to be the better choice in terms of SL usage. My opinion of a GTX 1050 is actually worse. That would be pretty sad and the death of all benchmark charts if you could not compare cards of different leagues... Yeah, that's what I'm saying ... instead buying the half-!§"( 3GB version, spend the price difference on other nice thingies and settle for the 1050ti. Sure, you'll only get - in theory - 100 fps instead of perhaps 120. But since we aren't playing a shooter here, that won't matter at all. Instead, one whole more GB VRAM for those lovely 1024x1024 mesh head make-up layers and stuff (at least if your viewer can handle it) plus the previously mentioned advantages. Though I hate that kind of comparisons: Would you recommend a mediocre Mini-SUV to a person in need of a car, even though their needs are perfectly covered by a well-equipped compact car? ... that's not what I claimed at all. Instead, I stated that I see that card as the best compromise in all regards for the average SL user. Those with barely any other "gaming" intentions, those wishing to spice up an average office desktop, those with a limited budget. That's summing up and evaluating those "info sites" like GPUBoss & alike and proper tests from more serious hardware resource sites to come to such a conclusion. Yeah, mostly because of prejudices, false information and falling for marketing blabla. We're living in the happy age where both companies manage to screw up drivers and break running systems. The intentional technical difference between the two 1060 versions is pretty much unique in the whole range of all available GPUs. AMD RX 480/580 4GB vs. 8 GB? Identical card specs, VRAM differs. Same for those RX 460/560 2 GB vs. 4 GB, RX 570 4 GB vs. 8 GB and, strangely enough, the same applies to past Nvidia generations. That's certainly a very peculiar technical problem, only affecting that specific current generation mainstream card...
  5. Ungefähr auf demselben Level wie Leute, die eine Frage stellen und sich dann nicht mehr melden.
  6. I'd start with the most basic ... shut down your router / modem / access point / (insert any potential network hardware here) and let it reboot. The typically most annoying routine: get in touch with your ISP, perhaps there's a faulty piece of network on their end.
  7. Wild guess: it's either completely drawn on or one of the suggested styled as a base, then heavily touched up with Photoshop magic.
  8. Awww, that's cute... some Nivida fanboys are even triggered when you suggest a different Nvidia GPU of better value for its use. Bring in the downvote shower!
  9. So what's the deal with the permissions set at https://my.secondlife.com/settings/friends ? As far as I know, you can pick a specific friend from the list, hit the wrench icon on the right and uncheck "See my online status" from the pop-up menu. Shouldn't that be sufficient?
  10. Concerns about the "quality" of userbenchmark and gpuboss set aside and ignoring that there is no relevance to any laptop graphics... your own links show the problem about those cards and provide you with fine reasons why a GTX 1050 Ti is usually a much better choice for average users. Quoting from Userbenchmark, the main reason why the 3 GB card shouldn't be picked up blindly, " The 3GB variant not only has reduced memory but Nvidia have also disabled 10 percent of the processing cores from 1,280 down to 1,152." ... that's the "crippled" part I referred to, the 3GB card is not the same as the 6GB one with just half the VRAM. Though I'd rewrite the UserBM conclusion "The 3GB 1060 has the potential to become a hugely successful card" to "if it finds enough buyers who don't inform themselves". Plus, the overall score at GPUBoss differs by merely 0.1 points. For the 1050 ti: most versions don't require an extra power connector, it has 1 more GB of VRAM and it usually comes in cheaper, making it the wiser deal. Since you seem to be Dutch, I boldly assume that a proper German test might be ok for you to read: https://www.computerbase.de/2016-09/geforce-gtx-1060-3gb-test/ For real gaming, we'd be talking about other cards...
  11. You can activate it and I think the panel is actually part of the user interface in a fresh Firestorm install. Click on any toolbar, hit the "Toolbar buttons..." option and then drag the "Avatars" button onto a toolbar. Voila.
  12. Guter Witz. Wahrscheinlich irgendeine Konsole aus Zufall aktiviert... Strg+Shift+3 oder Strg+Shift+4 mal probieren. Sonst das Developer Menü durchsuchen, ob da was aktiviert ist, was nicht aktiviert sein sollte.
  13. Even better: if it's a starter avatar, it should be easy to pick from the "Choose an avatar" panel in the viewer. Or "change your appearance" or whatever it is called in the official viewer. In the library folder (Library > Clothing > Initial Outfits), you only got random names with barely any descriptive value. Though I'm at loss picking any hair from the premade avatars which remotely resembles the Rezology style...
  14. Mesh or not is not the point. The screenshot suggests very low render quality on someone's end. Since there isn't any further info, afraid there's just one general advice: get decent hardware and up your standards.
  15. The CPU is a pretty specific clue: an i5-4210U is merely found in laptops. And I'm still baffled that you can earnestly recommend a crap rip-off card like a GTX 1060 with merely 3GB for a desktop "upgrade". In that price range, the model to consider is a GTX 1050 ti. Cheaper, more VRAM, not intentionally crippled in its features. Followed by a RX 470 / 570 with 4GB VRAM, albeit more expensive and thus less interesting for a "I'm only running SL" user.
  16. Agreed, the first thing I associate with that message is a "ghosted avatar" - that means that you probably crashed or the last region you were connected to failed to log you out properly. I might have missed any hints about such crashes in the mini-walls of text... Anyway, try logging in on an alt account or get in touch with any other inworld friend and check if your main account appears as online. Fairly good chance for a positive response. "Pinging" that inworld ghost with a simple IM or repeatedly attempting to log in might eventually trigger the logout process. If that doesn't help: create a basic support ticket, simply stating that your avatar is ghosted inworld.
  17. If you have "played it forever" before ... what has changed before the problem started appearing?
  18. So that is your friend's view pictured in the screenshot? Does anyone else agree with him and sees the same? If it's just him who is having problems, I'm tempted to say it might be his machine and not your fault at all. I'm kinda intrigued by the very rough lines and edges on his hair, for example ... does he run on pretty low graphics, by chance, like having "hardware skinning" disabled?
  19. I wouldn't suggest building a brand new machine based on existing systems which might be a couple of years old. That's what hardware forums and they buying guides are for... but well: Intel Xeon E3 1231 v3 @ AsRock H97M mainboard, MSI RX 480 8GB, 16 GB RAM, the SSD with the operating system (Win10) is a Crucial MX200 256 GB SSD and the "gaming SSD" holding the SL cache is a Samsung 840 EVO.
  20. Not too long ago, there was an inquiry about a Japanese head. Maybe there's further inspiration for you in that thread:
  21. Intel HD is not even remotely a stand-alone card. It's a tiny bit of your CPU providing you with the basic ability to put out images. Since you don't describe your specific kind of problem, the Firestorm wiki might help you - or not.
  22. No, you certainly don't need an Nvidia card for SL, an AMD card works just as well. You can run into gamebraking problems with both brands and with a bit of patience, there'll be fixes for either end. All you really need is the best card for your budget and that certainly doesn't apply to the crippled GTX 1060 version with merely 3GB. It's not only limited in terms of VRAM, but it even has a different architecture than the GTX 1060 6 GB. Currently, there might be good deals on some RX 470 cards due to the release of the RX 5x0 successors.

  25. Alwin is absolutely right: you won't get happy with that machine anymore. When you get a new one, also do consider a proper dedicated GPU instead of an integrated unit. However, for the time being, you should probably look at the Win10 Intel Fix guide at the Firestorm Wiki, which explains the driver issue with your old integrated chip.
