@Prokofy I would say: yes... I think friendships inworld are more intense than on social media like Facebook or Forums. Interaction between avatars inworld is often more like a RL interaction IMO.

Very nice pic Valerie :smileyvery-happy: Your 'messy' desk looks so cosy next to the Christmas Tree. For me it is always very inspiring to be surrounded by nice books, cards and papers or other nice things.

Something which also might help: You need to click on your profile picture and choose the texture from your inventory in the popup screen. Only dragging the texture from your inventory on your profile usually doesn't work.

I only have good experiences with Mentors but not always with other ppl who want to 'help' you. When i started in SL early 2007 often people were teleporting to crowded places and started to 'friend' everyone and gave them notecards with Landmarks to promote their business and stores. Sometimes i found it helpful because it was pretty hard to find nice freebie places and your start-inventory wasn't helping out with nice free clothes and other helpful things (like you mentioned). But when i was finding my own way here it annoyed me more and more when people made 'randomly friendships' like this. In the communities i joined at that time it even was forbidden to promote your business this way because a lot of ppl complained about it. Nowadays i am careful with taking friendship offers because i sometimes still got the feeling ppl are only offering friendship to promote their business and that is not my way to get friendships

I've always been playing adventure rp games on the pc for about the last 20 years or so. Early 2007 i saw a documentary about SL on Dutch televsion which made me very curious about this "game". So i wanted to see for myself what it was like and started in February 2007 with my first avi to try it out. About 1 month later i created this avi in which i felt more myself :smileyhappy:

I don't visit adult sims very often, because i don't like that kind of entertainment much, but i know i have visited some because of their beautiful landscapes and creations.

It happened to me with at least 4 of my best friends in the past 4 years. Two of them were my partners and the first one told me the reason of leaving, but the 2nd one disappeared suddenly without any notice to anyone, and i still don't know what happened, i never did get any responds to my emails. From the other 2 i found out later on what the reason was. One of them came back after almost 2 years and had left again after 3 months. But she told me she had gotten a severe illness, so i know why she has left again. I am still very sad about these good friends i've lost this way, but i am more prepared and more careful with my friendships now.

My avatar is a human one matching my RL to feel myself comfy, but that is as far as it goes, compared to my RL. I love the possibilities of this world beyond the RL limits and I love to explore beautiful landscaped sims and the architecture and the art created here in sl. For the last 2 years I even didn't have a house anymore, because i hardly ever used the houses i had before. I only had landscaped gardens with animals and pets and beaches with seashores. My friends here are important to me though because i like to know the real people behind the avi's. With some friends i also have contact in other networks like forums, facebook or even a messenger, but i always kept my romances and partnerships here restricted to SL only.

I have had a few different hairstyles, but always blond and short styles. This one is my favourite now. It is a man's hairstyle because i can't find a woman's short style i really like. This is Kenny from Bryce Tully.

I did use Plurk almost daily for a while but gave up, bc i couldn't keep up with the fast going daily messages from others and lost interest in it.

Maybe it is not the model you made but your viewer. Have you tried an other viewer? I had this problem too several times lately, i was always crashing when i tried to upload a picture, texture or object. I tried several viewers and on quiet times. In the end it worked with Imprudence.
