  1. Definitely no group land, I have a hard time figuring out how that works actually. Will try the above fixes and report back. Thanks. Done! You have to make your alt Owner, then I left, then he could leave. When he was just Everyone the message said an owner role was required. Perfect, thanks!
  2. I'd pay to fly to 25 of you to New York City anonymously, to all anonymously meet in a large room with 25 computers set up, angled so no one else can see your screen but you can see everyone, all log in at once with your main account and meet in my 30K sim garden in world for a private party. Now ... who's who?
  3. Two of my old groups (for my renters) used to have me, my male alt, and a renter as members. Both now have only me, yet have persisted for months. I can't leave them (I started them both) and yet I thought that LL wiped out one member groups after a certain point of time. How long is that, it's been months now? Thanks.
  4. I swear if I ever did stumble into a lottery win, I'd tier up to own one 30,000 sim surrounded by empty eight water homesteads. That's 70,000 prims on one living sim. Just imagine.
  5. Back up to L$12,500. Next door 2048 is listed at 16,000, so come get this one cheap!
  6. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dicycla/29/61/21 2048 M rated parcel with sailing and open water canal in front with access to Heterocera inland sea at front of parcel on protected canal, and great sailing access to Sansara via water. L$12,500. Drop by.
  7. This is why if I ever went back up to 1/4 sim (another 8192) .. and there are two open sailing lots right across the canal at 4096 each so?? ... and I rented those out, I'd do the landscaping and set the pad for a house. I'd tell my renters they can pick any Scarlet Creative or Trompe home for the property (I probably own most of them already, aka "house junkie") and then fill it however they wanted, but my landscaping stays and no walls. The benefit to those restrictions? I'd rent them cheaper than market and offer a lot of prims. Reading through this thread you've handled it well, and seems calm about responses, so great on you. Hope it works out.
  8. I display the same last Heartsong name as Kat on my male alt, and have a Pick in both that shows off and explains the other. Kat shows off the male alt in hers, and the male alt shows off Kat. Can't get much more open than that.
  9. Sailing in my Oceanic is always a delightful experience!
  10. It's not having an alt that is the issue when you read the forums here, it's what a large % of users with alts do with them. Yes, there are many who are just using alts to do things like having an extra body or two in your photo scene. For exploring multiple things in SL. For roleplaying, etc. I have a male alt for example for extra land ownership and his L$ allowance, but he's in world about 15 seconds a week to transfer L to me. However ... There are a decent % (perhaps even a small majority?) who use them for less-than-noble purposes. Spying on friends or partners. Cheating on partners. Those are probably the most common two. Griefing other SL residents. Hiding the darker things they want to get up to in SL. Concealing themselves from their loved ones and friends instead of just telling their friends in SL they are busy (a lot of people use their friends list like a dog whistle .. hey, so-and-so's online I'm gonna hang!! when maybe you just are building or want to be left alone for a night). I'd think most would be easy to spot if they opened their mouths in IMs ... hard to change a repeatedly misspelled word you always get wrong, using ellipsis like I do with a space on either side, cases of your letters, etc. I'm sure many can, I couldn't. It's like lying about my RL gender living as Kat in SL. Why would I? But I know many female avatars try, like many use alts. PS. Sniped by @Clem Marques by mere seconds. As he said, no problem, have fun. But if you lie to me about it if I ask, then it's actually not my issue, it's all yours. ------ Also a quick follow up, isn't there an actual limit to the number of accounts one person can have?
  11. She delves into a world I am both part of and know a lot about. It's as crazy, narcissistic, infuriating, elitist, sexist, infantile, etc as she describes. Highly recommend her earlier dive into the world of fine wines as well, Cork Dork. PS. The "designer" who typeset the subtitle in a Copperplate-like all caps needs to go back to their Typography 101 class because they failed.
  12. It's really nice and fits well, but this is one good example where I'd love to see the 10 different bodies that are supported be broken out so you could buy the fatpack of just LaraX for a reasonable price, and not get the nine other bodies you have never owned or wear. In terms of affordability/cost, it's either buy one colour and get nine useless outfits, or none, so I went with none. Lost sale despite it being nice.
  13. Not sure how relevant to the tech discussions here, but found this article on arstechnica interesting since there is always a lot of tech discussion here around OpenGL, Metal, Vulkan, etc ... ... https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/02/asahi-linux-projects-opengl-support-on-apple-silicon-officially-surpasses-apples/ For around three years now, the team of independent developers behind the Asahi Linux project has worked to support Linux on Apple Silicon Macs, despite Apple's total lack of involvement. Over the years, the project has gone from a "highly unstable experiment" to a "surprisingly functional and usable desktop operating system." Even Linus Torvalds has used it to run Linux on Apple's hardware. The team has been steadily improving its open source, standards-conformant GPU driver for the M1 and M2 since releasing them in December 2022, and today, the team crossed an important symbolic milestone: The Asahi driver's support for the OpenGL and OpenGL ES graphics have officially passed what Apple offers in macOS. The team's latest graphics driver fully conforms with OpenGL version 4.6 and OpenGL ES version 3.2, the most recent version of either API. Apple's support in macOS tops out at OpenGL 4.1, announced in July 2010. Developer Alyssa Rosenzweig wrote a detailed blog post that announced the new driver, which had to pass "over 100,000 tests" to be deemed officially conformant. The team achieved this milestone despite the fact that Apple's GPUs don't support some features that would have made implementing these APIs more straightforward. "Regrettably, the M1 doesn't map well to any graphics standard newer than OpenGL ES 3.1," writes Rosenzweig. "While Vulkan makes some of these features optional, the missing features are required to layer DirectX and OpenGL on top. No existing solution on M1 gets past the OpenGL 4.1 feature set... Without hardware support, new features need new tricks. Geometry shaders, tessellation, and transform feedback become compute shaders. Cull distance becomes a transformed interpolated value. Clip control becomes a vertex shader epilogue. The list goes on." Now that the Asahi GPU driver supports the latest OpenGL and OpenGL ES standards -- released in 2017 and 2015, respectively -- the work turns to supporting the low-overhead Vulkan API on Apple's hardware. Vulkan support in macOS is limited to translation layers like MoltenVK, which translates Vulkan API calls to Metal ones that the hardware and OS can understand. [...] Rosenzweig's blog post didn't give any specific updates on Vulkan except to say that the team was "well on the road" to supporting it. In addition to supporting native Linux apps, supporting more graphics APIs in Asahi will allow the operating system to take better advantage of software like Valve's Proton, which already has a few games written for x86-based Windows PCs running on Arm-based Apple hardware.
  14. It only took me three+ years to figure out environmental lighting. That means by 2027 or so I'll have PBR down.
  15. Got all my new lands etc set up, this is the view in the studio and out the back patio as the sun is starting to set. Trompe house by Cory Edo, the windowed space for my studio and swimmable pool sold me.
  16. The devs have said in a recent Korean-language interview there will be multi-player, actually, but what form that will take is anyone's guess.
  17. Me either. Most of the wildly popular exaggerated Kawaii/baby girl look doesn't say modest to me. Cute, perhaps. My avatar is mid-30s and just not that style. YMMV. (That's why I'm finding the search for lingerie right now slow. Cute is available, overtly sexy too, but elegant seems more slowly being released.)
