I am having issues with The Cool VL Viewer
Aishagain replied to Guku Aabye's topic in Second Life Viewer
And there you have the definitive information. There IS a forum and that's your place to go. Henri does not suffer fools gladly and I just hope he doesn't think I am one! -
I am having issues with The Cool VL Viewer

@Guku Aabye As I said you'll get the best information by notecarding Henri. I doubt very much if anyone familiar with Cool VL will respond in this forum. One of your requirements simply is not compatible with V1 type viewers (which Cool VL is) and that is outfit saving. That is exclusively a V2/3 viewer function. -
I am having issues with The Cool VL Viewer
Aishagain replied to Guku Aabye's topic in Second Life Viewer
@Guku AabyeCool VL is one of the oldest viewers to SL that there is, so there is no contest there. Firestorm's ancestor was Phoenix and even THAT was younger that the Cool.I won't mention the progenitor of Phoenix, it is too contentious. Back in 2009 I ran a fork of Cool VL the Rainbow viewer, compiled somewhat controversially from Cool by Boy Lane. Personally and for my purposes I much perfer the UI of the second-generation viewers but it is a case of each to their own. If you are having issues with Cool VL notecard Henri Beauchamp. There are few folk that know more about SL and none that know more about the Cool VL...he compiles it. -
I'll add this as a separate post, I dunno what Linden techs have done but I no longer need to log in to the MP when I access it inworld, once I logged in today I stayed logged in over several sessions! 😄 It is worth adding that on all occasions I was on a region at the datacentre not in the cloud.

@Grumpity Linden: Thankyou! -
What is happening with the SL MP today, we have maintenance, it is "completed" then immediately Billing Maintenance, then another (apparent) dose of MP Maintenance. Is this more uplift issues or is there a serious issue that LL thought was fixed earlier today but isn't?

@Lucia Nightfireand @steeljane42: if I read Bugsly's OP correctly you will need to raise a support ticket specifically opting OUT of this week's uplift. It is not very clear but that is the only way that I can see of getting your wishes through to the operations team via Support! -

I've just read Oz Linden's comprehensive report on the Uplift work and recent problems. I have bitched about poor communication in the past...this is the sort of communication that silences my complaints. Thankyou to all Lindens and especially to Oz for this. -

In all fairness to the techs at LL, a few years ago there *might* have been a cursory notice on the GSP about Bake Failure, but little or nothing more. I know things are bad and I am prone to moan more than many, but at least they DO communicate these days, even if the end result is not much better. (Trying to play Devil's Advocate here) -

And STILL they flail around. Investigating - We’re aware that the issue with avatar rendering is still ongoing. Our engineering teams are actively working on the issue. We’ll post updates on the status page as we have them. We’re sorry for the ongoing issues. Oct 15, 09:47 PDT Gee, they're sorry! -

Well, quite frankly I do NOT believe that LL knew WHAT they needed to fix! Assuming that they DID change something other than the RC channel code, why did they roll it back? The fact that they took two attempts to address the bake system failure suggests that the first fix (one of my avatars was fine before the fix was applied yet did not bake after, while one WAS fixed), didn't really FIX anything. The rollback sounds like "well, that didn't work so let's just put the old code back and see what happens" . If they DID change something else, why didn't they just say so, rather than just saying how sorry they were. This all sounds like running around in ever decreasing circles. NOT something I want to hear from the outfit that runs SL. -

There's only one way I can sum up today in SL: "What a mess". I am bound to marvel at how a change of code to a relatively small portion of the Grid could have so affected grid-wide Bake services. Perhaps LL will enlighten us via a Blogpost once they have sorted it out. -

@Willow Wilder:what? Are you telling me i need a facelift or something?? The cheek! (At my age there are several parts that need uplift actually.) -

Aishagain replied to Mazidox Linden's topic in Second Life Server
@RowanMinx:I watched that from beginning to end and ...OK, it informs me better to some extent (I knew the services uplift had largely been completed), I guess they're a bit busy getting it done by the year end. It did not tell me anything about actually uplifting regions, nor when that was going to occur, though obviously it WAS going to occur at some point. I guess Whirly's point is that that IS happening now, and I remain as ignorant of that process as I was before. Possibly connected to that I was glideing last night and region crossings were really good (other than the two second or so freeze at each crossing) until at one region border the glider stuck fast. I got some message about some object owmed by the pilot wanting to control my viewer and almost immediately after SL booted me out via the grayscale picture. I relogged back at home and so far the glider has not been returned to the pilot. who was simply dumped at the border of the region we were leaving, still logged in. Anyway I will shut up and await the notice from LL operations telling us that the move is done, I guess. -

@Whirly Fizzle No I was not aware of this (should I have been, I saw no info about this) but yes it would make sense. I must admit I "suspected" that something of the sort was going on but I knew not what.
