  1. I like that it has 8Gb of graphics ram. The more of that the better. But a 1.6Ghz cpu is going to limit things a bit. It will run, and be fine for standing about and fiddling with clothes and chatting. Don't forget the other BIG factor in using SL, the internet connection, it's speed AND the latency - even Wulfie's hyper-desktop can't fix that.
  2. Thanks Chic, It's not a great loss, as I have the applier version and the V5 Maitreya allows me to only wear the layer if I need it (thereby reducing complexity when I don't). I have an ancient (2015) alpha from the same source that does the same, so I was suspicious of the maker. I just like to understand these things.
  3. I decided to try to get some old system clothes to work with BOM. The photo is of a top that I applied at least 2 hours previously, at the same time as the panties. The top never rezzes except as shown. I assume that the UUID in the no mod item is no longer extant, but there is no error message. If I attempt to apply the same thing to the system body, there is no grey overlay, but no top either (image redacted). Is this the creator (he's still in business, but not known for customer care) or SL? I was under the impression that once a UUID was extant it was available forever.
  4. That's only good news if you can cross the region boundaries without being borked. But ya, Connect the Continents please!!!!
  5. I'm thinking... Write a script to tell you when someone nearby is wearing one of her skins, and warn you, so you can mute and de-render them. Send the creator a timed demo copy. Don't get angry, get even.
  6. The alternative to a Linden Home is to build your own on mainland. Now you can't fit my house onto 1024 square, but then it does have 6 floors (including basement and cupola) and enough rooms to satisfy your urge to redecorate for several decades. Maybe we need a catalog of MP buildings that fit onto 1024 square meters, so that peeps can see the possibilities of using their Premium entitlement without using a Linden home.
  7. My advice is to watch a lot of p..n, then you'll understand the range of attractive shapes better. (ducks)
  8. Same in RL. My Dad always was moaning on about how much easier it was before puters ruining it all. Let's wind RL back to 1939....
  9. You guys do know I'm joking, don't you? See signature banner below 👇 (or did you turn those off....)
  10. How do you 'turn the sky off'? The 'show feinds only button' was new to me. After 8 years, doh!
  11. I want LL to FINE them for inviting enough people (and their scripts) to cause lag. You want MORE customers, you pay MORE tier.
  12. I am sick and fed up of getting invites to go to shops and events in SL, only to find when I get there that the sim is full with everyone and their gibbon's cat's mother. SL needs special controls for whole sims that allow the tier-payer to pay more for more computer power, and the set points should be variable against the lag. The more lag the more you pay! I could name the culprits, and it's not just events, it's permanent stores like S, A and B. (you can guess.) Damn Blast <expletive deleted> ... So you really want it, and then when you click the vendor you find someones unrezzed head was in the way.... Damn Blast <expletive deleted> ... And when you finally get to pay it, it takes an hour for the stuff to arrive. Damn Blast <expletive deleted> ... There vent over.
  13. Hey, I found you with Duck Duck Go. Google is my fiend.
  14. Thanks for that. Seems like the USA needs an Anti-Trust-like Strategic Communications act then. You know, like the one that they tried to use to take down Microsoft for destroying competition - it failed, of course. Politicians are such <expletive deleted> everywhere.
  15. Ummm. DARPA designed the internet to route around faults. That's the whole purpose of it so that in a nuclear war communications in US don't all go down. So my question is: WHICH BASTARD CHANGED IT? And: Can we have them shot?
  16. My experience is that if SL Support can help you, they will. The secret is to remain polite, and be very clear about what you find wrong. My advice to everyone on support requests is to take screenshots - of everything that goes wrong. Oh, and get a Password Manager (I use Bitwarden) and use it to remember your pet names too.
  17. We probably have to wait until the SL engineer has driven in to the login server facility, and pushed the reset button. The usual thing is that cleaner unplugged the computer to plug his vacuum in.
  18. Well, we can't help without facts. 1) What distro and version are you using? 2) What commands did you give? 3) What output did they return? But honestly if you can't troubleshoot an installation, you really should be running Windows or OSX, and putting up with paying Microsoft or Apple.
  19. Get a time machine. Go back to March. Record everyone's UUID and Name. Come home to VT (Virus time), and write a script to look up every UUID you see. Simples!
  20. http://downloads.firestormviewer.org/linux/Phoenix_Firestorm-Releasex64_x86_64_6.3.2.58052.tar.xz I always download that, and then after unpacking, run the 'install.sh' as root (with sudo). You may find a PPA with it, but then you'd have to do whatever your distro needs to put it in the list for Apt to find it. There is a video, but I have not watched it.
