  1. Why in the world don't they just call Second Life "adult activities" what "solo sex" is normally called, when you're the only person in the room? Anyone joining these conversation unawares, would think Second Life is a RL "hookup" site.
  2. I never would have guessed that's a "selfie icon"!!
  3. Masculine nose + feminine facial features otherwise. (Definitely not in Barbra Streisand territory.)
  4. The current overall impression reminds me a little of Sandra Bullock.
  5. Understood but..my understanding is, if someone DOES abuse the AR system, they are told. Hopefully they are warned before and/or with any serious punishment - and not given for example, a 3-day "ban" with no explanation, for abusing the AR system.
  6. I noticed that the shape of the nose, in particular, is somewhat masculine and lends some age (due to its size).
  7. Peeve: Someone commented on my Facebook (I put the post there too) that they "get violently angry when they see this man" (in humor, one hopes). My reply, worthy of sharing with you: I found the first few videos confusing. Is he celebrating "food culture"? Are they mocking him? Will he be eating all the food shown? Later, I relaxed and was able to just bask in the pure joy which he um..exudes!
  8. Jealous? 😀 It's weird how someone can write so much without complaining about Second Life! (You, not the "author" of the article, of course!) Have you considered giving lessons?
  9. Cool, I was grasping for terms and could have benefited using "academia" and "blogs". 🙂
  10. If the "AR Posse" gets paid rewarded (even paid L$) for "actionable reports", and punished (even banned) for "false reports", that would be cool! Consider that: - True reports "need to be made" to help all of us. (I don't want AP around, I can't speak for others..) - False reports "need to be punished" if someone is actually abusing the system by making obviously false reports YMMV
  11. Very wise. Scylla, being a writer, and knowing that the author is "obviously" a writer, and that the article is published on a "writers-type" online source, will look at things from that perspective. But if the author ONLY wrote for that audience, it would be pretty short-sighted on their part. I mean sure, if it were "poetry" on a "poetry blog" (poetry came up earlier), that's one thing. But an article about Second Life, that anyone could find with Google, is completely open to criticism by anyone who is looking for an article about Second Life. It could be "true" that it wasn't "written for us normie reader non-writer-types". That doesn't make it as if, "ok then, nothing she wrote about Second Life really matters, right?"
  12. His two most famous works were, "The Stars My Destination", and "The Demolished Man". (A Babylon 5 character played by Walter Koenig was named "Bester" in his honor.) The generation before mine - Baby Boomers - had small (children's book versions) and larger Oz books to read, as part of a larger Oz mythos, that were a far cry from the "sanitized and safe" movie "Wizard of Oz". I think perhaps "Emerald City" TV series did it justice. I THINK that is the series I recall watching a few years ago. Fairly horrifying and a little bit funny. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerald_City_(TV_series) The point of the "brain boost" is, you have to actually "use" it, not just carry the "can-o-brains" around! * gibs needy flatheads a can opener *
  13. Can't spoil the entire plot with a Wikipedia entry, so that was a good choice (leaving it out). I am sooo numb to it lately, to much umm...RL experience. That's it! Maybe that's why I like the Forum so much, "a fix of the surreal". Which brings me to another thought on the article. I mentioned how the author's fast-switching description of teleporting between locations reminded me of a story by my favorite Science Fiction author (Alfred Bester). Well, I finally realized that while I didn't "appreciate" her use of "neologisms" (as Scylla so kindly put it, if only I were so kind), I finally realize that Bester also had his characters using "invented" words - a lot. So, there's that. Guess I need to go get the old can-opener and open my closed mind. Like how the "Flatheads" in Oz would carry cans of brains around which they could use to increase their own intelligence (being flat-headed), but they never actually used the brains until some pivotal scenes. https://oz.fandom.com/wiki/Flatheads
  14. Yes, most people in the thread Forum who've been around awhile remember Skell, he used to post here an awful lot.
  15. Well, that's just how he got kidnapped and forced to participate in the insane commune of Whoop-Whoop. Key to the story, is a giant (real) Kangaroo God, vengeful because Whoop-Whoop makes its income butchering kangaroos to make canned dog food. ..I am suddenly reminded just how surreal the article is probably trying to be, like the movie. Of course, being firmly ensconced in the surreal myself, I sometimes hardly recognize it in others.
  16. Peeve: Most people only know about Salt Bae (Nusret Gökçe), or the "Tummy Dancer" Yasin Cengiz (whose theme song features "Skibidi"). Both men are Turkish. I think people need to be aware of both! I only recently discovered Yasin, and he is by far my favorite of the two. A sample of Yasin's work is below.
  17. It reminded me of a movie, but I forgot that was "Woop Woop". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welcome_to_Woop_Woop
  18. Peeve: A certain number of my posts are still there, with questions and logical propositions, but were never replied to. What's a guy gotta do to get attention?!?!
  19. While of course avatars can change hairstyles anytime, it's rare these days in RL for people to radically change hairstyles. I noticed that your hairstyles are heavily influenced by Manga / Manhwa styles. Of course in those stories, a character usually has "just one style". I'm reminded of a favorite Manhwa ("Let Dai"), in which one of the main characters constantly changed hair styles. This had an interesting side effect of 'making fun of hairstyles in manhwa'. The character was able to get away with this because part of the story was, their family owned a wig shop!
  20. Sometimes it could be apparent coloration / shade / lighting differences. After you said they were the same avatar, I had to look extremely closely to see if the skin tone was different or the same on each picture. Different hair, colored differently, framed the face leading (for me) to a different perceived color of the skin tone. Similarly, completely different clothing, colored differently, led to a similar effect for me. The differences were drastic enough for me, that I honestly thought some were "male" until you wrote "she". I probably "wanted" to see a male (everyone sees androgyny differently).
  21. Stolen and stored for future use! Great, what next? "UwU stuff"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uwu
