I have a blog with about 10.000 views per month (but not really a fashion blog). Also you need to some PR to known fashion bloggers, so they show your stuff on their blog. There are some with really amazing traffic. Check out this one for example: http://juicybomb.com/. Last time I saw stats there were over 100.000 page views in a single month! Make sure she has something form your stuff (free of course). Then do a fun event specifically for bloggers, invite them personally, sell yourself to them its well worth it. And how would one go about that as a full perm animation creator? Bloggers use poses to showcase their things, not animations?

It is your graphics card. Update the driver and the problem will magically vanish. If it doesn't, you might need a new card. Why I am so sure? I had the exact.same.problem.
  3. Rolig to the rescue! That is exactly what I meant but considering it's 4:25 am here my brain wasn't functioning enough to be coherent about it all. I am one lame zombie.
  4. MIstahMoose wrote: Thank you all for the responses! I will see what I will start up, I am sure I won't be the blogger because I don't have the most savvy way of speech, I tend to offend a lot of people by accident >.< SO maybe I will run a technical blog, and let someone run a fashon blog for me Thanks again everyone~ The good things about blogs is; they don't even need many words! Especially fashion and Home & Garden blogs. Plop down one or more pictures and type out everything in that picture (name & creator + bonus points for slurl to mainstore) and that's it. Can't say how everyone else 'blog shops' but when I do, I scroll down fast, stop when I see something I like and get tunnel vision only going through the 'what is the model wearing' part and ignore anything else. Also, I never understood why people insist on posting a youtube video beneath an outfit. Is anyone even watching these?
  5. Pamela Galli wrote: So a larcenous store owner made this entire wall and put freebies all over it for the purpose of tricking someone into accidentally spending 40 cents? Right. (40 cents for crying out loud.) Gotta start small until you're ready for world domination :smileylol:
  6. Nope. You animate pictures either by having it as a slideshow, or with a script. With the script you don't use 5 different pictures but have those five pictures on one .png. I used to have some sort of translator that translated a gif into the script but it's been ages @.@ perhaps google can help with that.
  7. Pussycat Catnap wrote: From a consumer point of view I'm more likely to follow a themed blog covering a wide range of makers than one maker's blog. Me summed up in a nutshell x3 You could try it, invest some time into the blog, check the statistics of how many people read it and whether or not it gets you more costumers and if it doesn't you can always just get rid of it :3 There's no harm in trying right?
  8. Your graphics card is crapping out. Go to the manufectuerer's site and download the latest driver.
  9. If you don't actually want an animated picture (think a .gif) but a canvas that slowly fades from one picture to the next, you should search for 'slide show' on the market place for premade ones where you can just drop your pictures into the contents (after uploading each picture). Or, you could search for a slideshow script to make your own.
  10. So, the merchant made a mistake with the pricing. You made a mistake with mindlessly buying it. I neither see shady practises here nor one mistake being worse than the other. Let the merchant know about the pricing misshap, if it was a mistake they'll fix the pricing on the vendor and refund your purchase. If they don't do either then yeah, you can cry wolf. Until then? Be mad at yourself and the mistake you made.

    Bidding at land auction

If you have just become a premium member it can take up to 24 hours for the system to recognise you as one so you can bid in the auctions. If 24 hours have passed I'd suggest trying live chat to figure out what wen't wrong.
  12. Whether the statement is truthful or not is not something we can be 100% sure about and it's not something LL will care for. They will see the profile, and the accusatations on it, whether they are truthful or not, they are defamatory and that is all LL will care about. Defaming someone is against the TOS whether rightfully so or not, it's explicitely stated that it's not allowed. I'm not trying to say that what the impersonator is doing is okay, far from it, all I'm saying is, that while the OP has every right to be upset about it all, he shouldn't open himself to being AR'ed. Hence my suggestion that he explicitely states that this is his only account, anyone else claiming to be him whether by stating so on their profile, chat or display name is a fake. That is a lot less harmful for himself than outright naming anyone.
  13. Perrie Juran wrote: Syn Anatine wrote: Also, naming and shaming is against the community guidelines. Your profile is grounds for Abuse Reports and you yourself might find yourself banned from Second Life for it. Chapter and verse please? This thread might get deleted under the grounds that it is an "interpersonal dispute," but no where is there a prohibition against naming and shaming. Also, I did look at all the profiles and there wasn't anything in any of them that was AR'able other than the fact that obviously somebody is impersonating somebody but that I would leave to LL to sort out. edit to add link Harassment Given the myriad capabilities of Second Life, harassment can take many forms. Communicating or behaving in a manner which is offensively coarse, intimidating or threatening, constitutes unwelcome sexual advances or requests for sexual favors, or is otherwise likely to cause annoyance or alarm is Harassment. http://secondlife.com/corporate/cs.php This might go hand in hand with disclosure: Disclosure Residents are entitled to a reasonable level of privacy with regard to their Second Life experience. Remotely monitoring conversations in Second Life, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without the participants' consent are all prohibited. And from the actual TOS: 6.1 You will not post or transmit prohibited Content, including any Content that is illegal, harassing or violates any person's rights. And sorry for the odd post formatting, the forums seem to have a mind of their own when copy/pasting.
  14. File abuse reports. Send the region owners a notecard explaining the situation. If they keep you banned, then you do not want to be on those regions anyway. Also, naming and shaming is against the community guidelines. Your profile is grounds for Abuse Reports and you yourself might find yourself banned from Second Life for it. It's better to state that you only own this account, and that any other avatars claiming to be you are in fact, frauds.
  15. Hi there! Here are two knowledge base articles about everything you need to know about buying http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-Private-Regions/ta-p/700045 land: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-land/ta-p/700043 In addition, you can find regions for sale by other residents here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Regions-for-Sale-Full-Regions/bd-p/RegionsforSaleFullRegions Which is most often cheaper as the 1000 USD set up fee isn't needed.
  16. carolinestravels wrote: Good Points Syn what about doing a customer service deal with the actual content creators then, also just like in real life. Building myself is not an option simply because I suck at it, but I am good at marketing hence the idea of a retail business. Well, as a creator myself, I personally wouldn't strike such a deal. Why? Because you would buy my full perm product once. And then resell it on to say five other people, getting 100% of the Linden. Now why should I take time out of giving support to my direct costumers, time spent creating and time spent advertising to help your costumers? What incentive would I have since they paid you for the product, and not me? Marketing is very necessary for a merchant to become successful unless they have sheer luck or have such an outstanding product that it makets itself through others (think Lola's Tango, Slink, Breedables etc.) Some are amazing merchants but utterly fail at marketing, some fail at creating but are very good with advertising. What I would suggest is, to perhaps join forces with a creator. Become their marketing wizard, do all the networking for them, the advertising and so on. You can do that for a fixed rate per week, or and I would think this would be more fair, to get a certain % of each item sale. Which gives you more incentive to market better because the more sales, the more Linden you and the merchant make. It's perfectly symbiotic. Now of course you would need to trust the creator to give you that % for as long as you work for them, but if you do find someone, it should be worth it a lot more than you merely reselling what someone else already offers.
  17. carolinestravels wrote: Rosie Eun wrote: Just as an observation, I don't think I'd buy anything from your store(s). You've made it clear that you want to "sell" as an experiment, and that you'd be reselling stuff rather than making it yourself. That's two reasons right there to make me think I'll choose to spend my money somewhere else. Practical reason: If you only resell stuff, I'd prefer to buy it from the creator, as then I have the option of decent customer service if I ever have any problems. Ethical reason: If you're just doing it as an experiment for blog-fodder, why would I choose to give you my cash? Also, malls are fine, but in my experience almost always empty. When I shop, I look on MarketPlace first, then visit the in-world store. And I never buy from resellers. Rosie, a reseller can not provide customer service? Why is this? Retail (as we call it in the real world) is an absolutly legimate way to market stuff. In RL we buy stuff from retaillers very often. In fact, most of the things we buy are bought through this very typical distribution chain: Producer -- Wholeseller --Retailer -- Consumer Why would that be bad thing in a virtual world? The retailer just needs to think of a value proposition, whatever that might be. Could be lower prices, could be more choice (selling products from different designers), could be service, could be presentation or just being at the right time at the right place (i.e: a bikini shop on a beach) Is building a business and writing about it unethical? Lets assume its succesful. Would the story how it happened not be of value to readers of the blog - especially for noobs? If you get what you pay for, why would you even care what my motivation would be? It's difficult to get technical help costumer service that way. Say, you resell a dress, the avatar has troubles with the alpha map that came with the product, and requests you to make a better one. Would you be able to? Or you resell an animation. A costumer is too tall for the animation, their hands do not reach the table no matter what, and they ask if you could make adjustments to the animations. As the actual creator, that would be easy, but you as a resller do not have the .dae file and have absolutely no way of adjusting the animation. Or you resell furniture, and the costumer has questions about how to get their animations inside. Or how to use the AO maps. Would you know all that to guide them through the process? The list goes on and on, costumer support isn't just about refunding things and knowing your product, it's actually being able to be hands on with your product. In the market today your costumer service has to be outstanding to get word of mouth advertising. Also, 99% of the things on the MP do not allow you to resell things 'as is'. They allow you to resell their creations with limited permissions as part of a complete build. If you want to resell straight as is, then franchise vendors are the way to go, but there you do not hold the actual product in your inventory and can give even less costumer service. I'd suggest you sit down and create your own things, or use the full perm stuff as intended, as part of a build not to resel as is.
  18. It's greyed out on wear, too? Now that is strange. As far as I know, and tested, an avatar can wear 5 alphas before the option to 'add' more is greyed out. Unsure what would cause for the 'wear' option to be greyed out, too. Perhaps it's a bug? Have you reset your avatar to the default male one and then gotten redressed?
  19. Upload your profile pic paying 10 Linden for the upload, right click the picture on your profile, select the new picture you just uploaded, click ok in the bottom left and there you go. As has already been answered in your previous topic: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Account/H-Hi-So-it-s-a-tiny-problem/qaq-p/2681662
  20. Nothing will happen to them Listing items on the MP is NOT a premium membership perk. Anyone, given they have payment info on file, can start selling things on the marketplace.
  21. Selected/Sat upon only affects the parcel whose About Land window you have opened. If there's a number there it means you or someone else on your land is sitting on something, not anyone else on another parcel Basically, it means exactly what it says. When you sit down on a chair that has a Land Impact of 5, it will show a number of 5 in the Select/Sat upon Line. When you right click an object and edit it, and that object has a Land Impact of 20, it will show a number of 20 in the Select/Sat upon Line. Now if you sit down on that 5 Li chair and select that object with 20 Li at the same time, it will show a number of 25 in the Select/Sat upon Line. That's all there is to it.
  22. What picture? A texture on a rezzed object? Your profile picture? I'm going out on a limp here as there's no details posted at all which makes it extremely hard to figure out what you are talking about, unfortunately we're not mind readers here! - Make sure you did not use local textures, these will not be visible to anyone else, and appear grey to you upon relog. You will have to pay a 10L upload fee to get your texture in world. - When you apply a texture to your profile pic, make sure to click "Ok" in the bottom left corner of your profile, it's pretty much the Save button. If you do not click it and close your profile, your new profile pic will not be saved and will not show up. If you are talking about something else entirely, please edit your post and add more details, thanks!
  25. Only you can decide the worth of an object. There's people in real life not finding it worth to spend more than $2 on a coffee. Yet there's people who are completely fine spending $10 for one. I believe you can preview those products in Second Life, so go to the store and start trying things out, bring a friend along to help you try things out (but keep your clothes on!) and then decide, is it worth it? Considering you're asking this question in the first place I'd lean toward no. That brand is by far not the only one making those kind of beds, so shop around, visit different stores, hop on different beds and decide which bed gives you the most satisfaction for the amount you're willing to spend on it.
