  1. I have long been confused by the way times of events, chats etc are displayed in Second Life, with particular reference to the Firestorm Viewer, which I have used almost exclusively though I have used Radegast to keep an alt logged in sometimes. I finally decided to find out how it was all done from an authoritative source, so I looked at https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_displayed_time_format However, after reading this, while I somewhat understand it, I am rather baffled by why the different ways each point of reference for times of events and chats are so variable, and why there cannot be more uniformity and consistency? The main types of time which are used, and which a user might want in the viewer, include: SL time (which is also PST/PDT) GMT/UTC The user's local time Whether the 12 hour or 24 hour clock is used And the places where we might find times being recorded include: The top menu bar of the viewer Chat and conversation logs Teleport history Group notices So... when you then look at what types of time are used by Firestorm at which points (and probably other viewers too), there seems to be a very random approach to what is used where, and I wondered if there could not be more consistency. Therefore, my thoughts / questions at the moment include: Are these various uses of different time stamps specific to Firestorm, and could be modified by Firestorm developers, or are they determined by Linden Lab programming? Have there been any attempts in the past to bring greater consistency into the way time is referred to in SL / the viewers? (I can't imagine I am the first person to think this is all pretty confusing the way it is). I presume that the way to have change in this area considered would be via JIRA - so the question is, would it be best to use the Firestorm JIRA or the SL JIRA? (I guess this really depends on the answers to Q1, or maybe it is both?) Specific answers to these questions, as well as general discussion, are welcome. By the way, it's interesting to see that the Radegast viewer manages very well by giving everything in the user's local time. (Not sure if that was a setting I had to choose at some point, but it was possible and it makes a lot of sense to me!)
  2. Local Mesh allows you to preview your mesh creations inworld and see edits you make to the mesh dae file in real time. Local Mesh allows you to perfect your mesh creations on the main grid without having to waste L$ on test uploads or using Aditi, the beta grid, for free mesh uploads. Local mesh works for unrigged mesh, worn rigged mesh and even Animesh! For further details, please see Beq Janus's blog post: Announcing Local Mesh You can try the Local Mesh feature now in the Firestorm Beta For the viewer download links, please join the "Phoenix-Firestorm Preview Group" and check the group notices. 3. Hi I am the owner of a group. I have seen various groups where the member lists are not visible - even for members. I would like to know how to hide the members list. thanks in advance
  4. Do you absolutely love the Firestorm Viewer’s feature set, like me, but you’re totally nauseated by the general grossness of the Firestorm Viewer’s disgusting and ancient-looking User Interface? Do you, like me, LOVE the clean and modern look of the default Second Life Viewer but you still prefer using the Firestorm viewer for its awesome feature set? Well, now you can have the best of both (sort of) - The Firestorm Viewer's feature set with the appearance of the default Second Life Viewer (sort of). Start by changing the Firestorm Viewer’s login screen to look like that of the default Second Life Viewer: In Firestorm, before logging on, at the top of the Viewer, Click Viewer > Preferences, go to the Advanced tab and tick/enable "Show advanced menu" Now a Debug menu option will appear at the top. Click on Debug > Show Debug Settings, Type “ForceLoginURL” into the search field and then in the empty text field of that setting, enter/set it to the following: https://viewer-login.agni.lindenlab.com Upon restarting the Firestorm Viewer, the disgusting eyesore that is the MS Office 95-esque orange puke fire gradients and ugliness of the Firestorm Viewer's login screen will now be replaced by the beautiful login screen of the default Second Life Viewer. To make the sickness-inducing hideousness of the Firestorm Viewer look even less so, and even more like the gorgeous default Second Life Viewer, Open Preferences: Skins, and choose Skin “Starlight” and Color Theme “Original Teal” Oh and... Run the Firestorm Viewer in 'Viewer 6' mode, obviously. Restart the viewer for all the changes to take effect. They should now persist throughout sessions. If/when there's a Firestorm Viewer update, you may need to go through the process again. You’re welcome.
  5. I'm using the latest FS Viewer and have been taking pics using DoF without a problem - until now. About an hour ago, I had a shot all lined up, DoF was absolutely perfect with the focal point being beautifully sharp and a perfectly subtle blurred background. Then I received a sudden request from a friend to tp them to my location, so rather than taking the snap quickly, I dropped it, thinking I'll set it up again later, which I've often done without issue. Wrong. No matter what I do, I can't get the DoF working again. Both the focal point and the background are either as sharp as a tack, or hopelessly blurred. Perhaps I've been going over and over my settings for too long (been at this location for over an hour now trying to work out why DoF is misbehaving) and have gone over and over old how-to posts, which contain nothing that I didn't already know and haven't already checked. Have tried messing around with the FOV, Foc Length, CoC and the Resolution with no success whatsoever. Is it just me, or are there times when it just messes up and there's nothing you can do but wait?
  6. When trying to "maximize" the world map tile names & , only (3) tiles show full configuration with land mass & marinas. The full expanded reference use to be (5 to 6) tiles with configuration, that's now "all-blue". The need to maximize viewing the world map for flight plans is important. What's the "bug" problem with the world map, to "disappear" expanding to all-blue? The "disappearing tile configuration is affecting the SL release, Firestorm & Singularity viewers. Trying to expand the world map is losing land mass viewing.
  7. I was playing on Firestorm, and then suddenly it was having a hard time loading and crashed. I cleared my cache, reinstalled and it's still doing it. It went from running completely fine and smooth on high quality, and then suddenly this. I've checked drivers, and I tried a checklist I found and still nothing. Turned off my laptop, made sure it was running other things smoothly. My laptop is a Dell gaming laptop. I would just switch viewers but Firestorm is seriously the only one I like. ToT Any tips will help! If you could provide like instruction or a video to it, that would help me a lot! I know there's 1000 other threads like this, but I'm not finding answers X_X Also I tried setting it on the lowest possible settings for specs in game and it helped but only the tiniest bit. UPDATE I FIXED IT I just can't figure out how to delete this
  8. I updated my Firestorm Viewer on Saturday , and told it to launch upon completion. It worked great till I logged off and tried to log back in. Now when I click the icon to launch it... the screen is solid white and says Firestorm nor responding. I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 10 times and no change. Any suggestions?
  9. So one of these days I realized that the number of items on the inventory wasn't matching with the total count, even after adding the library. Since nothing "important" a.k.a that I remember existing seemed to be missing I just left it for when I had the patience to clear the inventory cache. I am using firestorm latest version. I have around 40k items (plus library) and it was showing around 44k items total. So I decided to do this today. I cleared the inventory cache, I manually cleared the inventory cache, and nothing seemed to change. So I logged onto SL viewer and two things happened. 15 new items were added to the count on the inventory folder and the total amount was now matching (it went down to about 39k). So are the items missing or are they not missing? I am confusion 😆. Firestorm keeps showing this extra 4k items, even after a cache clear. I have only encountered an "item not found in directory" once, for a tattoo that I never worn before. I have entirely too many stuff and nothing I use regurlaly seems to be missing, so I'm honestly just wondering why firestorm is showing these extra items, or if they're actually missing. I have followed firestorm's wiki on missing inventory, all items.
  10. I use Firestorm viewer.. voice not working. I see the little white dot above my head by no green stuff.. lines.. when I talk. I heard it was a windows 10 update problem. Does anyone have a fix? Thanks 😑
  11. Hello everyone. I have something to share. I have a wonderful Asus G752VT with an NVidia gtx 970m. When I first got it I was shocked to find that eventhough, at first, it ran my secondlife viewer with wonderful FPS it would suddenly drop as if experiencing lag. If I let it, the FPS would drop <1. I tried everything, frustrated. This would happen with any of the viewers I tried. So, I knew it wasn't the viewer. It had to be my graphics card settings. So, I went to ASUS to make sure I had the latest driver. I did! Well, I solved the problem. But then, I had to reinstall windows (the long way to get out of the insider's preview program). And I'd forgotten how I solved the problem. So, here it is, in case I forget and have to do this again. I haven't found anything on the web, at SL community, ASUS nor NVidia. My solution was to run the NVidia GeForce Experience app. This told me there is a more recent driver. Why this isn't on Asus's site, I don't know. Installing this driver solves the problem?
  12. Not even going to attempt to fill out a JIRA report - the last request for support over DoF Issues remains unanswered (a month now - unacceptable), but I'm wondering if the following is happening to others, or whether it's (typically) only happening to me: Crashed roughly an hour ago (just another day at the office taking photos on ultra) but when I logged back in, all my chat logs were gone and Firestorm is not restoring them. Never happened before today. Reinstalled FS - waste of time - chat logs are still not being restored. Originally followed FS's own advice by saving them to Documents months ago - I can see them set there in Preferences, but they're not loading. They've always loaded. Always. Until an hour ago. Relogged several times. Nothing. 13. I got a message asking me to reinstall Media Plugin//I have no idea where it is..how do I find it?
