  1. A tenant of mine on a private island asked me for help with this repeated error message - "We are sorry, Linden Lab has discovered degraded performance on your connection to the region you are on. You will need to restart Second Life and log into a new region for the next 30 minutes to an hour. We apologize for the inconvenience." The region seems absolutely fine and I'm not having apparent problems myself. I looked up previous reports of this error message and have read through what I can including old queries in these community pages and Nalates help page on running tracert (which I did without discovering much useful). I see there is at least one apparently unresolved JIRA concerning the error viz. VWR-25566. I admit I am having difficulty in knowing what it all means and need to know whether there's any point me pursuing this with Support or to ask the tenant to raise her own ticket. My feeling is that she will have to do it herself but I want to be sure there's nothing more I could be doing first.
  2. Thanks Emma, and Claireschen , that looks just the thing!
  3. If I were to visit your house, would I find you on the ceiling?
  4. Thanks for the suggestions, both. I did check them but didn't find anything that would really do. I need a style something like this but not too glamorous as I'll be a scientist and I don't want my locks falling in a chemical stew
  5. It really depends on what you find interesting. I've never tried IMVU nor have any desire to do so, and since this a Second Life Community forum I don't think I'd be inclined to extol another platform if I had.
  6. Oh, I am sorry. It used to be the case, so I am evidently behind the times.
  7. The income has to come from somewhere. Since land income (monthly tier) has been reduced, transaction fees have gone up. Unless something changes you aren't likely to see a reduction.
  8. I'm looking for a female hairdo that would suit the 1970s. It doesn't have to be exactly right, just good enough. Hair that's slick, with that 70s flick
  9. I believe you might benefit from a new pair of spectacles as well, given that you're in a Land Forum.
  10. I see a dragon leaning over an Easter Island statue to get at a bag of sweeties. But that's just me.
  11. It's not a matter of anyone's politics; you're skating close to breaking the guidelines here.
  12. I don't think we need to cast aspersions on race or age here.
  13. The advantage comes after several months, when you've absorbed the transfer fee cost and are just paying the lower monthly tier. @Hunter Fischer sorry, I didn't mean to take over your topic
  14. I'd do that for very little. The first thing I do with new land is get my boots on and terraform; the next thing is to plant trees. We should team up
  15. People who think in the long-term might consider it a good option, bearing in mind that the bulk of that price is investment in future savings. Apart from that it's worth being aware that grandfathered regions are a diminishing commodity. If one is abandoned, or the buyer doesn't want to pay the higher transfer fee, the grandfathering advantage is lost for ever.
  16. I once caught a Linden creating a silly trap for newbies that they'd happen on if they got adventurous and left the welcome area, but then he was a very naughty Linden
  17. It isn't easy. I'm not even sure what people regard as a friend in SL. For me it's someone who likes me, has something in common with me, is trustworthy, and knows sometimes I like to be quiet. I found mine mostly from being in a community or common cause but some from chance encounters. I never found a true friend just by being at a dance, and instant offers of friendship just puzzle me. The slow appreciation from group chatting seems to work. Other than that ... well, if I get brave enough to visit the Forum hangout I might see you there
  18. I'm old. I'm so old the Who were among my favourite groups (we didn't call them bands then). I've been an actor, writer, organiser, roleplayer, charity-team leader, prim builder, mentor, and things I can't even remember. I'm nearly always PG and like being a Tiny or Biggie. Having moved on from a few communities I lost touch with a lot of people, and would like a few more friends, but am a bit shy, so though I'm friendly it might take time for me to get to know you. In the meantime you can probably find me riding a pod on the Linden roads.
  19. My bet's on $30. I have no basis for this bet, I'm just throwing it out there
