I notice that the blog post announcing the Senra avatars refers to them as "BETA" - How long is the beta period, and how do we give feedback on the bodies? Are the bodies locked in as they are, or would it be an iterative beta?

A next iteration would be another set of avatars.  Blake and Jaime are here to stay.  Feedback can go to JIRA please, we will use it for the next phase of avatar development.

First question,
Why does the application require a inworld store?
Some of us only exist on the marketplace

Second question
With the mention of it being Beta, would that mean there's some chance for us to help improve the body and devkit?

Just put N/A if you do not have an inworld store.

Yes, feedback to JIRA please and we'll use it for the next iteration of avatar development.

I think the biggest thing I want to ask. Is better optimization in the works for Senra avatars in future updates?

The bodies are optimized.  The numbers are:

Blake's Body complexity is 4,102*
Jamie's Body complexity is 4072*

Jamie's Head complexity is 3,628
Blake's Head complexity is 3,952

There is an * caveat that is an interesting one.  When the AUX nail layer is added, the bodies increase in complexity.

Just for interest sake (given the way things now work in SL),  would a mesh creator with a Dev Kit be able to make mesh to sell as full perm templates for others to create textures for?  Or would that not be approved?

Yes, as long as the mesh is your own creation and no part of the SDK bodies / head meshes, UV's, etc are included in the full permission template

Hi all!

We wanted to drop a quick update as we’ve heard from some of you that have applied for the SDK and asking what the status is.

As of this moment, no SDKs have been distributed. Following the beta release of the Senra Blake and Jamie avatars, we have been hard at work making some adjustments to the bodies and heads. These adjustments are significant enough to also require adjustments to the SDK, and we have not wanted to start distributing the kit for what is, soon to be outdated content so quickly after launch.

We anticipate the updated versions of the bodies and heads to be released within a few weeks. In the meantime, we still have all submitted applications saved on file, and new applicants are continued to be welcomed. When the dev kit is ready for distribution, we will release it in batches, beginning with our earliest applicants.

Stay tuned for more information when we have it!

Hi all!

Today, we’re happy to announce that the Senra Body SDK has begun distribution.  We will be rolling it out to applicants on a first come, first serve basis from when applications were initially opened.

However, it is very important to note that the SDK content is for version 1.0 of the bodies and heads which have not yet been released publicly.  As such, any content created utilizing the SDK will not be fully compatible with the current version of the bodies and heads. We will be releasing version 1.0 of the bodies and heads within the coming weeks.

The developer kit is being released in advance of the updated bodies in order to allow some lead time for creating content. For applicants receiving the SDK in advance of the release of version 1.0, you will also be receiving a pre-release copy of the bodies and heads in-world to test content, as well as a UV dummy for testing skins.

The developer kit and information will be distributed in-world on the account indicated and an e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address that was provided on signup.

-Patch
