So my understanding is that Facebook wants you to have "RL identity" and bans SL avatars.

But that's fake because there are any number of SL avatars and businesses on FB. PS the page with my name is not me and is a griefer.

And there are any number of fake Kremlin trolls with the names of actual ships, etc. that FB lets by. So it's very uneven. I would just make a new SL avatar account if I were you, spell it a bit different or whatever.

But first, Chrome "Incognito" or something like that.

So... you missed Belinda's point... She was a bit sarcastic in her response, I'll give that. But your lack of respect for us here, shown by not putting effort into your writing, begs for such a response.

Your failure to use punctuation and grammatical structure left most of wondering what you were saying/asking. Then you failed to notice what she was pointing out made a rude response to her.

I wonder how many of us quietly muted you and moved on?

Well, I did not mute but it's way to late to try to follow that post...

If I understand you correctly, Facebook is asking you for identity information to fix your Facebook account for your Second Life avatar. Facebook only allows "real life" accounts now. You can't have a Facebook account for a "Second Life" avatar.  So, you may not be able to fix your Facebook account for your Second Life avatar. Good luck!

I know the answer to this one as I only had a Kali Wylder FB account and none in my real name.  I was busted a couple by FB a couple of months ago and there's nothing you can do about it since we were violating their terms of service by making FB accounts with our SL names.  So if they ask for your ID, you're busted.  If you wait a few days, you can take your chances by creating a new FB account with some minor spelling differences to your old one.  I know one person who has done that every time she gets busted.

I didn't bother with that and just made an account in my real name and put Kali Wylder in the spot reserved for nicknames. The sad thing though is there are people that my old account was friends with who've since passed away and so I can't re-friend them.  That and all my history is gone and no way to recover it.  I hate FB.  I still use it though because I have relationships with people who use it.

Yup... if I ever get busted, I don't mind shuttering my SL/OpenSim FB and never coming back. I just opened a Mastodon account, and I'm on discord, Twitter, mewe, avatarlife, reddit... it's not like I don't have other places to play with lol

Years ago, FB purged a number of SL avatars' accounts, including mine and Strawberry Singh's (now Strawberry Linden) because we were fictional characters.  Within the last month, I tried to open an Instagram account and could not do it, so I suspect that there is a Meta-wide ban.

Wow, and yet my kids have FB accounts in names of our old pets so their policy must be applied randomly.  When my kids pushed me to go on FB eons ago, they finally said they were making an account for me and I forbade them from using my RL name so they used the name of my very first SL avatar.  That account is still there.....

I get that they want to sell RL people data, and want people to be able to trust that thry are interacting with a real person as a real person, but I still don't get their reaction, especially for a company that wants or claims to want to be "meta".

Why not put a bit of fb aside for non-rl accounts, put a banner on them, so othere can know it's not a "real person" account, restrict them from functions that they feel they shouldn't have, like liking, and let them peacefully live their meta life, if they don't really bother anyone.

Deleting my non-real person account with its whole history, friendships and all, would surely not inspire me to eventually set up a real-person account.

I've only set up an fb account very late, and only because someone who organised a school reunion told me it was so hard to track me down (good!), and that "everyone" has one and I should to, so they can find me next time.

I've never done anything with it, and the only thing that came out of it do far wasn't another school reunion, but a handful of totally random friend requests by people (all men, to be precise...) from another continent, whom I had zero connection to, and thus ignored.

When I read that fb is writing "meta" on its banners, I thought maybe I'll delete that useless fb account and make a new meta account, but I'd also read about that "SL account purge", and really feel with the people who had theirs, partly for as long as fb exists (and fb, in their humble beginnings was certainly happy enough about everyone who signed up...), so, I didn't. I think it's a really stupid and short-sighted decision on their part.
