The name "Second Life"

Well the virtual world is used as an alternative escape from the dystopian worlds in Snow Crash and Ready Player 1. I wonder if we should air drop computers with Second Life into modern day nations like North Korea to help them escape from their suffering. Maybe Oculus headsets? 🤔

To me, it sounds like it's something for people who's first life has all worn out and come to an end.

But I think it doesn't take much effort to just get over names that you associate with something else and potentially bad. All it takes is a sliver of will power.

I would hope that sometime when something 'big' changes or gets added to SL, they may consider a new name too and spend some promotional money on a relaunch.

But it would have to be easier for new comers to get their avatars sorted i reckon .. is there a plan to simplify dressing of avatars? .. if so that could be the thing to set it all rolling?

But don't some people escape to Second Life in order to experience virtual 'suffering' ?  😁

Yeah, I could see it in another dystopian young adult novel. But to me it mostly sounds like a playful nod to the early days of console gaming. Remember having multiple lives? 

It is clever wordplay either way.

I'm a bit too unplugged these days I think to really feel that deep about it.. hehehe

I do remember a time when I was hooked pretty good though..

This guy was hooked too but ended up leaving and then wrote a song about his perspective of Second life..

It's still a good song I think..
