Check your new home's Access Panel, for folks you don't know might  be on the access list. Just found yet another, and this was on an alts new place. And check for each theme if you really want full privacy.

Good tip. I'll check mine next time I log on. You would think they would reset stuff like that.

So, the Access List does not reset when the home is abandoned and re-claimed?

@Abnor Mole - Is the Access List suppose to reset?  I know that some of the settings on the Land window don't, but I would have assumed that the house controller would reset the access.

It doesn't on every home I've noticed. But it's also sometimes a while after you have taken over that home too. I just check each time I rez a different house now.

I have seen this on my most recent acquisitions, and am wondering if it's a new bug. My older homes were abandons when I got them, but the access lists were clear. On the more recent abandons, I've had to clear them myself.

I had thought someone had said that they are supposed to clear themselves, but maybe I'm remembering wrong.

First thing I do is make sure everyone can have access.  Then I open all the doors and windows, and set it so they can't be closed.  So I don't know about these lists.  God forbid I ever needed to ban someone, I'd probably just do it the old fashioned way via the About Land/Parcel Info interface.  Unless that's against the covenant.  Might be time to reread that once again.

My alt has a house, they are the first owner and this is on their Access list ~ "The following people are on your access list: in.tatters"

Can't remove them though as are not a resident, and that's not the first time I've seen a non SL resident on the list. But other times they have been residents as the house had previous owners.

Weird, as stated above I also thought the house access lists reset when someone else got them.

Now that IS odd. I've been able to remove all the miscellaneous names from mine (so far). I think I'd ask support for assistance if I came across your issue. Cleaning off the access list is kind of like spraying air freshener around the new home. 😛

I was thinking they might have helped design the system, and I can't remember the other non resident names 🤔

@93YearOld That is odd indeed, but it's nothing to worry about. As you said, correctly, the access control system is scripted to clear all of the resident names from the access lists when it detects that a parcel has changed ownership. I do not know how to account for the ghost in your own access list.  The system always checks any name that you try to add to the list and will reject a name that is not recognized as a valid login name, so that odd name wasn't entered by a previous owner or some random passer-by. In any case, since it's not a resident name, it's not going to be letting a real person into your home. If you send me a private note or an IM with a SLURL to your parcel, I can get into the system to remove that bogus name manually.

@Dyna Mole thank you. The alt has sent you a notecard 😉

Might be along these lines: I had a vic in Lantana and had to AR a griefer thing where a HUGE checkerboard covered what appeared to be the whole region - my yard and all properties around me including Protected land.  The checkerboard had sick porn images in each square.  As I tried to AR it, I saw the object properties as "Endless Checkerboard" with Owner listed as "TrumpImpeachmentTrial", but when tried to look up that resident - did not exist. this was some weeks ago, and I never saw it again after my AR.  My point is maybe your ghost resident got booted out of sl by Lindens.  I assumed that is what happened to my griefer.

No, not this time anyway. The string that was in the access file was not an avatar name of any kind.  It was just a harmless but mildly annoying bogus entry created by a server hiccup of some kind. Life wouldn't be the same without a few mysteries.

We love mysteries...
