What Venus said :)

Amanda Linden has stated before that moderators are employed by LL and not resmods. There are differing opinions about this but I personally would prefer it to stay that way. Don't get me wrong - there probably are some residents who would make great mods, but I think it has the risk of creating unecessary drama.

Better to keep the mods relatively "independent" to avoid any favouritism drama. (Although there are a few who still like to claim moderator favouritism anyway!)

I can be quite surprising when users become moderators. Some of them get to feel "in charge" and behave accordingly.

Example:  There's a Linden "commerce" group that was often spammed with ads. It wasn't bad, or a problem, but it did happen occasionally. So a few users asked to have mod abilities to deal with the spam and the spammers, and they got them. That was good. But what happened then was that at least two of them got to feel "in charge". "Because s/he could", one of them decided to regulate the discussions and decide what could and could not be discussed in the group. I came across it when s/he decided that the redzone topic shouldn't be discussed because it had been discussed earlier in the day. In a private conversation about it at the time, another of them asked me if I think they should allow such discussions. So that was two of them who decided that they were in charge when they were only given mod abilities to deal with the spam.

So I am against resmods because some people have a tendancy to think more highly of themselves than they should - it's natural for some people.

I agree that ResMods would cause drama, but probably not because of shouts of favourtism or people getting too big for their boots, it would be the community expectations of the ResMods to get things done NOW!!!

I don`t think I would like to do it, you all scare the beejesus out of me when ya get riled up  lol :D

I lurv the worldwide mod trend which is to "third reich" every forum these days. People who often know little about the format they are advising upon. It's quite laffable really. Take the sicko grasping at straws video reply to the publication of our ip addies. Shamefull indeed. You would need to have a really thick hide to be one.

I think you have to do something very, very wicked to be punished by moderatorhood. I also believe that actually "wanting" to be one automatically disqualifies an applicant. As does being sane. I would rather sleep with a cactus on a bed of nails while having my teeth pulled sans anaesthetic than be a moderator. And I'm pretty sure the actual moderators here would agree :smileywink:
