I hardly ever encounter ppl that dont see it, the occasional glitch or someone on a non mesh viewer...oh well, that is really rare these days.

What you may be encountering is that many of us who can't or don't see Mesh don't say anything when we are out in public.  I recognize that it is (my Linden Lab induced) problem.  So I don't say anything other than to occasionally let a girl know her boobs are hanging out.  One girl responded "I was wondering why so many cross hairs were falling on me." She had 'show look at' on.

I know one club that recently remodeled and used some mesh structures in the rebuild.  The owner took them down after he discovered how many couldn't see them.  It was enough to effect his traffic.

But 99% of the time In World I don't say anything other than if I have a date with someone to ask them not to wear Mesh when we go out.  Most are understanding of my problem.

I once saw an escort who mentioned in her profile that if you can't see parts of her its because the viewer might not be able to show mesh. Just in case a customer has that problem, I guess.

Mesh products itself are wonderful, but its bad not everyone tries to see them or can't for some reason.

I don't care how others see me. I dress for my own eyes. I wont skip mesh goodies just to look good to a few luddites out there. Really, i am ok untill someone starts bitching about mesh. Each to their own. There are people who still use pre alpha viewers, so if you happen to wear shoes with an alpha layer your pixel perfect feet will appear borked to them. It's pretty imposible to adjust your looks to a level where everyone sees you perfectly fine.

It is a challenge to be a mesh creator without the benefit of the deformer handy.  I have lost count how many tweaked shapes I have to accommodate this or that mesh size.  There are plenty of non-mesh hairstyles for  those for whom mesh hair is not quite fitting properly..

I have had to forgo some clothing purchases because the amount of tweaking would be more than I care to make.  It is all a choice, right?

I don't view this as a 'good' thing at all since you won't be able to just wear existing mesh clothing you have but still have to wear alpha layers and different shapes that most people have to wear with current mesh.

...

I agree that alpha mask under mesh is not a good thing.  When peeping inside the clothing item from the small gap between the item and skin one can see the emptiness there.  Sometimes it is very obvious, sometimes less obvious depending on how close the alpha mask comes to the clothing edge and how big the gap is.  That is not a pleasing sight.

:matte-motes-frown:

Anyway I have been able to find some very nice mesh clothes which fit nicely without altering my shape a single bit.  Those items will not turn obsolete - unless I suddenly gain more fat.

:matte-motes-big-grin:

Unfortunately i have found zero and it is not from lack of searching.  I have bought very few mesh items due to this.  I have to wear an alpha, some i had to create myself because the one that came with the garment doesn't work for me, and/or make a very slight tweak to my shape to wear any of them. I won't do more than just a minor tweak that is not a noticable change or wear any mesh with an alpha  that makes my shape look different..

Alpha's are ok as a temporary work around,  The last mesh item i bought was a dress that fit well with the alpha and looked great, until i sat down, flew, or danced when it  became disturbingly obvious I had nothing on under the skirt, and i don't mean underwear,:smileywink:.  I'll be wearing that dress only to places I stand around in.

Well it's nice to see others who think as i do, i do not like mesh,it might have it's place for making monster type avys or cars and such, but i do not understand why everything has to go mesh.

Whats the point, the clothes all look like they are from a RL dept. store catalogue, very conservative.

Regular tops fit skin tight and look sexy, mesh tops are loose.

In my travels in SL for 6 years or so, i can say females in SL like to look sexy , when we go to a club, the girls all dress in sexy clothes, not conservative dresses.

I am a shop owner, i have my own line of clothing, and i will not be making any mesh, i am also an affliate for a couple of clothing lines and it seems all designers are making now are mesh clothes now,i just do not understand the point of every thing going mesh.

If anything it will drive those of us who do not like mesh to seek out other non mesh worlds to cont. to sell our fashions

I have never worn mesh clothes and don't intend to, i also have the non mesh phoenix viewer , i find the mesh phoenix viewer to be a poor rezzer, so all i see when people wear mesh is silly block feet and things hanging off them.

I also make and sell skins and shapes, i am extremely particular how i look, i do not and will not change my shape to fit clothes as one has to do with mesh,as i said i do not understand this rush to mesh everything, the old non mesh clothes fit so much better

From what I have seen about mesh it is useful in certain ways. I usually wear anthro avatars and what the makers have been doing with mesh is pretty great! It makes it look far better than sculpts that don't move with the body. Plus, mesh loads faster on my old computer than sculpts.

Plus, it looks great for dresses. Its nice to have looser more conserative dresses than the more risque ones. The way it flows with the body is great when the rigging is good.

As for hair...I can do without. Since its usually non sizeable its pretty much useless for anthro heads. That, and even if the human head is small it still won't fit. : \

Yes, it's good for building and complete avatars/attachments and things like that but most clothes even with the standard sizing have huge butts or the chest is either too huge or too flat between x and xs. There's just never any consistency with mesh clothes.

Another example is I found a mesh top that might work and a mesh skirt and they clip into each other, or each creators idea of black or whatever color, is totally different. Lots of mesh tops that did work rendered necklaces I loved useless because of clipping. Belts too - same issue if you want to wear mesh.  Just lots of things like that make it a big let-down. Even bracelets and some things just don't work with some mesh clothes obviously. A lot of style and personality seems lost. Some dude making mesh clothes for girls based on generic walmart looks isn't helping either.

Mesh hair looks awful to me too. It always appears really flat and dead on people I see wearing it. It just looks plastic and fake. If only we could just raise it up a bit or alter it to fit our heads and fix it.

For I think 8 years now that I've played SL, I've loved my avatar and made small changes throughout the years, but with mesh I have to either make drastic weird changes or not wear it. It depresses me sometimes and I feel bad about my avatar, when before mesh I always loved it.

I totally agree with OP.

I always wear XXS sized mesh, and sometimes find even XXS to be too large, and my breast size is 15-30 depending on the mesh outfit, but never over 30. I love Wasabi Pills hair, however all her "regular size" mesh hair are made to fit breast size 60-70, while the "boobs size" mesh hair are made to fit breast size 80+ (completely unrealistic). It would be nice to actually accomodate more realistic sizes once in a while.

(You must have not looked at any RL fashion magazines in the last decade or so. Do enlighten me on the style of most fashion magazines. Are models wearing pasties + a thong, or are they wearing actually artistically done and stylish
outfits
?)

Regular tops fit skin tight and look sexy, mesh tops are loose.

In my travels in SL for 6 years or so, i can say females in SL like to look sexy
(ok, so you've seen every single avatar in SL, you must have logged on for 25 hours a day huh?)
,
when we go to a club
(yes I'm sure SL is 100% consisting of clubs and every female avatar's sole purpose in SL is to look like a **bleep**)
, the girls all dress in sexy clothes, not conservative dresses.

I am a shop owner, i have my own line of clothing, and i will not be making any mesh
(good for you. Have fun being left out and selling stuff that looks like they were made in the last decade. Oh and btw, no one cares, because there are only a million other great shops out there)
, i am also an affliate for a couple of clothing lines and it seems all designers are making now are mesh clothes now,i just do not understand the point of every thing going mesh
(apparently you have never played a 3D video game before. Do enlighten me on a modern-looking video game that does not use rigged mesh for clothing models)
.

If anything it will drive those of us who do not like mesh to seek out other non mesh worlds to cont. to sell our fashions
(yes, I'm sure the people who refused to switch over to Windows 7 will never use a computer again. Just like the people who refused to leave viewer 1 left SL huh?)

I have never worn mesh clothes and don't intend to, i also have the non mesh phoenix viewer, i find the mesh phoenix viewer to be a poor rezzer, so all i see when people wear mesh is silly block feet and things hanging off them
(I lol'd at this. "I must be the best looking avatar in SL, since everyone else around me looks like boxhead due to my computer's inability to render modern graphics properly")

I also make and sell skins and shapes, i am extremely particular how i look, i do not and will not change my shape to fit clothes as one has to do with mesh,as i said i do not understand this rush to mesh everything, the old non mesh clothes fit so much better
(yes that's true, mesh isn't made to fit avatars with size 100 boobs and butts. Cloth layer stuff do fit better at the expense of having sweaters look paper thin and glued onto your skin. Then again I'm sure you don't care since a few paragraphs ago you said that all you wear are "sexy" clothing, and I imagine that to mean you wear underwear or two strips when outside)

Reminds me of the people who were terrified of sculpties. "omgz SL has been invaded by irregularly shaped 3D objects!". Now the people who fail to get in with the times (ie ones still refusing to even use sculpties for their hair/clothes and stuck using cloth layer + flexi) have all sunk to the bottom.
