Where's a good place I can get FREE boots?

Although I don't wear them myself I've tried to help new people find totally free boots and everything I have seen in the freebie places look like they are free. So unless you really luck out and someone posts here that knows, your going to have to put some effort into it if you want something decent looking.

There are places where you can earn lindens by doing things like filling out surveys.  You could also look for a job and earn lindens.  Save up and you'll be able to buy a pair that you really like.  Until then, your best bet for getting good quality totally free men's boots is going to be to find them as a group gift or as a free hunt item. Go to stores that sell men's boots to see what they are offering and what hunts they participate in.  Usually the group and hunt information is near the landing point.

How does one get a job in second life?

Go on the marketplace and under categories choose Apparel - Women's - Women's Footwear - Women's Boots. In the search field type free, promo, boots, combat or whatever you are searching.

Also, you can open any boots you like and under description there is a link that says "See item in Second Life" (if the merchant has inworld store). If you click that link it will open a world map and clicking on it will open the teleport window in your viewer. Try and visit few shops inworld. Many of them offer free boots for their group members so all you need to do is join a group:) Hope it helps:)

1. search for the available jobs. There is a forum section you might check http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Inworld-Employment/bd-p/InworldEmployment or you can open search in your viewer and choose employement. 

2. Inform yourself about the job and the person offering it (there are profile tabs - pictures specially) that will give you some infos. Visiting a place is also good. 

3. Contact the person you want to hire you. Write a nice notecard, don't forget to include your full name, time zone, and previous experience. 

4. Think about your skills and try to find something that will be a fun thing to do. SL jobs are something you do in your free time, something that makes you happy. 

5. If you have no experience focus yourself on learning about SL as much as you can (there are always some things that we can learn about).

Search for "In Good Taste" in a sim called Vignette. There are several small buildings there. One of them has good quality free shoes, including unisex combat boots. Another place to look at is SANTO. I think they have free combat boots if you join their group.

I wouldn't personally give that advice without a huge caveat (if at all.) Those are notorious for getting a ton of personal information, which can be used badly, and never paying.

The person would be better off just using freebies until they can either buy L$ or get an in world 'job.' 

Santo has some really nice combat boots for men. For women I would say Coco has a nice pair of flat, black boots as a group gift.

You could always enter contests and events at clubs.

Unless you have a special skill such as scripting most jobs in SL pay very little or the payment may be in items, not lindens.  Payment in clubs for jobs such as bartender or security pay in tips usually.

Go to the sims that have combat themes [WWII & NATO] and they always have free uniforms that include combat boots.
