  1. It is unlikely that another resident will be able to help you with billing issues, a call to the LL billing office would more likely resolve the problem even if annoying
  2. Same here Valerie, not sure why but I just don't want to "mesh"
  3. Everyone will see your User/Login Name. Not all people will see you Display Name. There is a viewer option to turn Display Names off.
  4. For me my inworld main shop generates at least 95% of my profits, even with the higher costs associated. The Marketplace is just an alternative stream much like we have products on our walls but also offer vendor shopping and a few remote locations. We want to to provide our products across venues so the customer can shop in their preferred manner. But, if I was going to abandon a revenue stream I would leave the Marketplace way before leaving our inworld location. The Marketplace generates less revenue and there are also more negative service issues for clients using it. Too, I don't think the Marketplace helps build customer relationships or brand loyalty. If you can afford to float your business for a bit, maybe try working your inworld shop and client base a bit more; developing relationships, groups, marketing, advertising etc. But, if funds are short this is not a quick fix; it takes time to build a presence
  5. It won't be exactly as you describe but check EMO-tions and Wasabi Pills. They are the only shops I know who might come close
  6. Well personally I still love SL and as it always has been, SL is a place where you make the life of your choosing. My SL is not a zoo at all unless Neko/Furry friends count Re support. Support is readily available for Premium account via Live Chat. If you are a free account these forums are pretty terrific for getting quick help; even though entirely resident supported I think there is more inworld experience here than you would find at the LL help desks. You can also file trouble tickets abuse reports etc. I do miss the Lindens presence inworld but the old Linden team were all SL residents and our world was much smaller. I do not think most of the new LL team would be much help inworld. However, there are a few still around who do actively participate though mostly with alts. Really wasn't sure what your question was...you mentioned mesh and there is a mesh forum where I am sure you could get assistance from other builders.
  7. To buy Furniture: You can use search inworld and type "furniture" to see list of shops. Or if to find specific style it is better to use multiple words like "contemporary chair" "antique bed" You can also go online and search the Marketplace at:https://marketplace.secondlife.com/ (suggest if buy online you make individual purchases, the shopping cart seems to have more delivery failures) Note the linden homes are VERY low prim so make sure you know how many you can use and then look closely at the prim count of each item you select. If the total prim count of the items you select exceed your allocation you will not be able to place them. How to get Money: The fastest and easiest way is to buy linden. But, if you really do not wish to do that and are ok with living SL on a limited budget then you can try the below: If you are less than 30 days old there might still be a few money trees around...check in search,, tp to a money tree location and look for Lindens growing on the branches for those new to take. There may also be a few camping spots left where you are paid to sit or hang around a certain area. You would find these in search too. This will only generate a few linden There are contests you could enter that give linden...look for them in search/events tab There are help wanted ads in the Forums Wanted section and the inworld classified ads to use in seeking a job. Do you have a RL skill that could be helpful in SL like graphic design or mad photoshop skills? You could create a book of examples and try to sell your service to shop owners. It will take lots of time to first learn and then to manage but you could learn to create something that other people would want to buy and sell via the Marketplace or with an inworld shop
  8. Face lights are still helpful but they need to be very dim and just cast enough light to remove shadows and breaks in the avatar face
  9. The biggest reason I resist using Firestorm is the V2 chat/im/groups/friends/notices management. In Phoenix all communcations are in a central place making it simple to keep track of multiple conversations and still see messages, notices, items sent etc. Having events happening all over the screen is just annoying to me.
  10. Firestorm is better than V2 but it has to use the V2 interface which makes it a bit clunky. I find the chat/im/friends/groups particularly annoying. Do sometimes use Firestorm for photography if want to take advantage of multiple layers but that is about it. I am ho hum about mesh and so am fine with seeing donuts for a long while in hopes that Firestorm team will develop something that has cleaner utility or there is something more compelling than mesh to drive my desire to change.

  12. Very few public places will allow you to place items on the land for opening. This is so griefers cannot cause problems littering the sime. You need to find an area where building is allowed like the suggestion to find a sandbox. Some shops do offer a small area where boxes can be owned. Or if you have a home you can open there. Once you get the skin out of the box you simply click on it and select wear.
  13. Hands, feet and often arms are made hugew on demos. When you buy the real shape the hands feet and arms will be normal. However, the whole point of the demo is for you to see if you want to buy the shape...if the hips and butt are too large for your taste then that is not the shape you for you. Delete the demo and keep looking. Go try on more demos at different shops (they will all have big hands/feet/arms, ignore that) until you find a body shape and face form that do suit your sense of style and feel like "you"
  14. It is impossible to steal in SL. The only way someone could take your land is if you set it for sale or abandoned it. If you do neither of those things our land cannot be taken by anyone. If someone is on land you own and you do not want them there, you can eject and ban them preventing any future return
  15. Actually there is a ton you can do with sliders...but you have to learn how to use them in combination. Each slider movement for face and head features will effect items on several other tabs. The sliders themselves are pretty simple but learning how to use them to help each other takes lots of practice.
  16. Re: What's so amazing about v1??! Reply to Greene Paine - view message 08-24-2011 12:50 PM For me its the UI and the general v2 philosphy of "why do in 1 click what you can do in 4". exactly! and a much clearer definition of what I term "clunky"
  17. For me the functionality of the V2/3 is just "clunky" Firestorm with edits to make it more Phoeniz like is a bit better but the chat/im interface is still V2 and I personally think it is just flat out annoying. It is not the "different "that I dislaike it is the methods of access and usage. The new multiple layers and tats, the add function, the outfits are alll great features but it is still just clunky to use
  18. You have to request the home, and select home style option...here is a link that should help you get all set up: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Home-overview/ta-p/700103
  19. To log in using Phoenix use mlouden03 for your first name and Resident as your last name
  20. It isn't Firestorm it is the Marketplace One thing you might check is your transactions on the marketplace to see if the order really was placed. after you click order the process is not really complete...LL wants the chance to spam you, so there is another page that pops up and you have to scroll down and click "confirm" the order. This is a horrid practice but that is way they set it up.
  21. I do not have any issues with people knowing I am on. I can choose to chat, say I am busy right now or just not reply at all. My friends are too polite to ever just tp to me without an invitation and strangers who appear usually leave when let them know they have entered a private space...if they don't I eject and ban them.
  22. make sure you are using the right size and format for photos I usually use a 1024x1024 jpg
  23. This is a forum of other residents just like you; we cannot help you with a purchase nor can LL. The only person who can help is the person who received your linden, probably the creator of the item you bought. If the item is transferable the creator might be willing to refund you money if you return the purchase. If it is not transferable you are likely stuck with it. If there was blatant misrepresentation in the item description you might have grounds to file a complaint. If not then you need to chalk it up to experience. As buyers we all have responsibility to understand what we are buying. You could send a nice im the creator hoping they will take mercy on you. I would also follow up the im with a notecard too; paste a copy of the purchase record from your transaction history, include your name and a note about the issue and pass it to them. If you are very new to SL let the merchant know that in the note...merchants remember being new themselves and are often more forgiving when new residents make an error.
