You might try one of the older SL viewers or a third party viewer like Phoenix http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory

What is everyone's thoughts about mesh clothing?
Lyra Blackthorne replied to Annie Melson's topic in Fashion
At least today I have no interest in mesh 1. Will not change avie just to fit a clothing item. But, I also do not buy no/mod prim clothing... and a resizer imo does not qualify as mod. Like with a resizer, mesh comes in "bigger" but just having an item cover my body does not mean it "fits" 2. While mesh is in infancy, have not yet seen anything mesh that generated a "wow, this is sooo much better than what I already have" 3. Cannot use in my shop for styling; even if I made the avie fit the item, more than 50% of my clients do not use a V3 viewer. Same goes for home items, most of my guests/friends just don't use a V3 regularly 4. Viewers, while I use both Phoenix and Firestorm, on-a-day-to-day basis I prefer Phoenix. Even with the tweaks to Firestorm I find the chat/notices/messages and the edit appearance/shape just clunky and annoying. So if I have to switch viewers just to see an item...so far there is no mesh value to make the viewer hassle worth it -
Where can I find someone who builds avatars?
Lyra Blackthorne replied to Asha Arida's topic in Your Avatar
You could try posting in the Wanted section of the Forums Also, have you used search typing in terms that might relate to what you want inworld? If you find someone who produces the quality you like, then you could approach them about a custom order. Just note that custom work is often quite expensive...a merchant can spend time making 1 item that will sell 100's of times or the same time making a single one-time-sale item; they will want it to be worth their effort. -
Can we buy a partucular body shape like we by our clothes and then wear them?
Lyra Blackthorne replied to kalkiraj's question in Avatar
If you are going to upgrade your skin as well as shape, either use a demo skin you like to try shape demos on with, or buy a shape that includes styling information so that you know exactly what skin to buy to achieve the look pictured on the box. Not all skins and shapes look nice together. It is perfectly possible to have a great shape, a great skin and still look horrid. I think someone already mentioned this but also make sure the shape is copy/modify -
Clubs and Shops...supporting your stores to support your club?
Lyra Blackthorne replied to Xanna Wahwah's topic in Merchants
Not really, the secondary locations really at best broke even and the effort to maintain them just did not seem worth it. We focus all effort on working our group members which are loyal fans and our main store, which we support with advertising, major event participation and external groups. Note: I cannot say that what we are doing would be right for all...the products sold could likely make a big difference. But for us Club sims were just a cash drain and shopping sims were break even -
Best is going to be subjective because each creator has a unique style but some of my favorites are: Womens: Al Vulo, Belleza, Curio, Glam, Laqroki, Lara Hurley, LaVie, League, Redgrave Mens: Den-Dou, Abyss, Belleza, DNA, Laqroki, LaVie, Redgrave, Sacred, Sawode, Tellaq

My business partner and I have the same problem. There is no way to do this unless we created a shared avie which we do not wish to do. So we have two stores : ( If someone searches for us by shop name they will see the work of all, but if they just click visit store from a single product they will only see one partners items

Usually "link damage" does not effect the linked item---the actual product. Just the links that lead back to them. Are you sure the items are gone and just not the links broken? If items really are gone, for 10K items I agree---if you are not Premium already it would be a good thing to do so could get some support for issue. Besides getting more/better customer support you also get a large portion of Premium membership cost back in the form of lindens via a weekly stipend and a sign up bonus. There are other perks too but getting the lindens means premium membership really costs very little

Usually contacting the merchant will resove issue faster than filing with LL. The Marketplace is a little buggy so the delivery failure is not the merchants fault. Sellers will usually make good on Marketplace errors very quickly.

I met people by searching through the SL events for activites that mentioned new residents or were events I had a RL interest in, like live music. Also the NCI location at Kuula was great. Taking classes was very valuable in helping me understand SL, learn skills and meet people too; classes are in Events/Education

Hoping to start discount shop and need Assist.
Lyra Blackthorne replied to Hallelujah Bellingshausen's topic in Merchants
I would start with a business plan Make sure you understand your cost/revenue equation. You are going to have hard costs for land and you will need to advertise and offer your merchants other marketing support. It is hard to start new businesses in SL just like RL and it is unlikely you will show any immediate profit. You will want to make sure you can or are willing to financially float the shop until you build up enough clientele to at least break even. -
If they are ejecting you it sounds like it is their land; they are free to boot anyone they do not want around. Ejecting a person from land you own is not abuse...even if there is no reason for the ejection. Why not avoid the drama and find a new place to hang out. SL is a big world, suggest finding a place where you are welcomed.

What Peewee said... You can get a Linden House for free or a small plot of land (512) tier free that you can put your own "small" home on. It is starter land to give newcomers a place to begin. If you want a large mansion or manor type home you are going to have to pay for land large enough to support it in terms of both size and prim allocation. You can buy on mainland as a Premium account or you can rent land from a private estate owner.

Im really curious about this.
Lyra Blackthorne replied to Cerebrix Absolute's topic in General Discussion Forum
I have never seen a SL ad either. Several years ago there was a CSI episode that featured SL and drove a large number of newcomers to the world, but if there is a marketing team have seen/heard nothing from them -
why only 10 items at a time???
Lyra Blackthorne replied to TiannaCollice Mavendorf's topic in Merchants
I pretty much only use the Marketplace as a search tool and buy everything inworld. I have been frequently dissappointed in the quality of online purchases so now if do buy online, it is only from merchants I know or it is so inexpensive that if I hate it have not trashed much linden with the item -
Clubs and Shops...supporting your stores to support your club?
Lyra Blackthorne replied to Xanna Wahwah's topic in Merchants
Several years ago our shop tried setting up auxillary shops on sims with clubs. We thought the extra exposure would increase our brand awarenss and breaking even was our only revenue goal...but not one of them performed well. Our conclusion was that those coming to sim were not in the frame of mind for shopping but have no data to support that. We did much better being located on a strong "shopping only" sims, but even at that none of the satellite shops really performed well enough to be worth the extra effort. We now stick with just our main shop and couple spots on friend's sims. -
I have purchased a Mesh outfit and the skirt will not load on any viewer.
Lyra Blackthorne replied to DarlingDestinee's question in Viewers
The latest SL Viewer can see mesh and the new beta Firestorm viewer as well. But anyone not using the viewers will not see your outfit...it will look like you are wearing a big donut -
Welcome! There is also a Answers forum here where you can post questions if you get stuck along the way. SL can be a confusing place when you first arrive but the members here are happy to offer assistance : )

Premium Perks Suggestions
Lyra Blackthorne replied to Blaze Nielsen's topic in General Discussion Forum
Improved customer service staffed by people expert in SL. As often as not the person on live chat or even the Linden's have spoken with do not understand the issue...I think they are people who have visited SL but not lived here. Expand what Live Chat can do...so far they only thing they have not told me to file a ticket on is a password reset. They need to be empowered to do more -
You might also try another Viewer. I have good luck with Phoenix and Firestorm. Kirstens does not work well for me but many people love it. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory
