  1. What puzzles me is that they knew it was broken, and they knew the fix but they still released it broken - the process the release team follows is rather weird.
  2. Try clearing the cache and relogging at a different location.
  3. Have you thought that maybe your problem is related to your own computer or a specific bug that you are having? Many people are still running fine with Viewer 2.
  4. You need to set up an application profile - you will find details on how to do this in the user manual at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/M14X/en/mm/MM_en.pdf - start at Page 48. It is usually best to consult the user manual first.
  5. I sugest you contact Linden Lab and ask them.
  6. If you are the region owner you could ask to be taken off the 'Le Tigre' server version if it is causing you problems.
  7. Maybe this is related to the Global Warming simulation running in Second Life,

SirJohn Swain wrote: as we all know second life needs at least a nornmal internet speed to run. but thats kinda my problem. i going to settle in new place. wich doesnt have internet for about 2 week minimal. but im still be able to use internet on my pc via my cell phone. so i was wondering if its possible to still run sl with less then 1mbps? is there a viewer for it? becouse phoenix doesnt work well... I've used it quite a bit on 0.5 - 1 mbps connections - and it works OK on Viewer 2, but I found Rainbow (based on Viewer 1.22) to be the best for low speed connections. I generally found SL was surprisingly resilient to low speed connections once you'd logged on and would usually let you stay in-world until connection speeds dropped below 300kbps. The most noticeable effect apart from lower rezzing speeds/walking was that other avatars' anims didn't look as they were working sometimes.
  9. I realise it may upset some - and there could be a good reason to make it optional (i.e. use same randomising setting). But some of us do like this feature, which it really is (as described by Torley) even if you dissapprove of it. Q said it was pretty low down the requirements list (but he is an ex-Linden now), but if someone wants to present a change this may change their ideas. As I said before if you have estate manager rights you can change settings to make certain effects more likely - I did that with our sim to make the mountainous corner more likely to get rock textures and the rolling hills to retain their grassiness.
  10. This is a feature of the randomising effect that is part of the texture blending - this ensures a more natural blending of textures. If you have estate rights you can change the texture limits to eliminate it, but for most of us it provides a pleasantly ever-changing landscape. Read more about terrain textures here.
  11. See this thread. Some Magnum regions are showing up as pgi-maint-server - a bug or deliberate?
  12. I've just TPed around a number of Blake Sea (formerly Magnum) regions and they were all identifying as 'pgi-maint-server' - bt I tried some others and they were still 'Magnum'. It looks like some Magnum regions are not identifying properly.

Last night my time and at 5am SLT , I had to tp from sandbox to sandbox because the sims keep on restarting at each different timing on the same day. Had to take back and rezzed the builds again and again. That was an individual hardship which was nothing serious. I can imagine if events that were schedule at that time- fashion shows, classes like Cypris Chat . It would be dissapointing to face the same restarting each week. Around servers restart is a good solution. The RC (Release Candidate) sims and main grid servers restart on different days, and there are some sandxboxes on the RCs as well.
  14. There are a number of known Mac/Ati problems with Viewer 2 (and probably some unknown ones). I noticed that the latest development version of 2.7.3 has 'disable deferred rendering on ATI Macs until SH-1618 is solved' in it's list of changes.
  15. Thanks Oskar - so far I have not noticed it to be related to different server versions. In a few days time I will do a road-trip on one of those excellently maintained and quiet highways in sl and will notice where the problems seem to be.
  16. Sonja Smedley wrote: Well maybe this is the reason in my case....thanks for the tipp...cause I do not reboot my computer very often...most of the time it runs day and night cause a fríend told me this would be better than switch it on and off again and again...:-( Hmm...so I better turn the computer off after playing at night..or? This all depends on the age of your computer and your operating system - but especially if it is old or running Windows pre-Windows I would definitely advise rebooting it off every couple of days - and when you are not using it set it to hibernate - that way it won't be using power either.
  17. Sonja Smedley wrote: Hello...can I ask something here please? Why am I able to log in with my ava with the phoenix viewer but NOT with the Viewer 2??? I installed the viewer new but the same ...again crash at the start. And I always clear my cache and modem also got a restart. If you are using a Mac you may be having problems - I have heard that from a few. If not try downloading the Beta viewer from the official 'Downloads' page - that is a different, but perfectly good, version and downloads to a different directory so can work some times.
  18. I have also been experiencing increased problems in vehicle sim crossings in the past few weeks - several 5-10 second rubber-bands and after 15 to 20 crossings I usually get sent to an impossible grid location and enter an alternative reality (this seems a new 'feature' that appeared a few months back)
  19. Don't expect any more comments from Blondin on here or elsewhere. There is a strong rumour going around that he left Linden Lab on Friday. Maybe someone from LL would like to comment.
  20. Nalates Urriah wrote: Viewer skins are few and far between right now. The basic user interface is changing so fast it is hard for skin makers to make one that lasts for more than a couple of weeks. There is normally a version of the StarLight skin collection available within a couple of hours of (and sometimes before) each Beta and full version of the Viewer comes out. As well as different colours it also adds in extra options and resized panels - there is even an option to remove the sidebar if you wish.
  21. Void Singer wrote: is the test alt in the second life beta group? I know the snack sandboxes were locked to them, perhaps Magnum got the same treatment? Thanks Void - that was it :smileyhappy:. It seems that all the RC sandboxes are now set to those group members.
  22. This is really odd - my normal av (Hitomi Tiponi) has no problem accessing Magnum sandboxes but my tester av (Hitomi Canucci) gets the message 'Teleport failed. You are not allowed into the destination'. Only differences are that the tester does not have payment info on file and is not adult verified (the sandboxes are 'G' rated). Anyone else having problems? ETA: BTW loved your cool car there Oskar.
  23. Magnum RC with 'mesh-prep' rolled out - and the Magnum sandboxes are closed off to teleports. Are they making Mesh Dinosaurs in there or something.
  24. JamesTasman wrote: I just recieved the message below, obviously fraud but i felt some one should know about it. Many SL users are not familiar with the system and may get caught. Operations Department - Second Life to me show details 2:48 PM (2 hours ago) Dear Resident, I am Paramjit B. from the Operations Department at Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd. I am contacting you with regards to your Linden Lab account with username "JamesT asm". Is "JamesT asm" really your username or is that your display name, or had they spelt it wrong? Something doesn't seem right.
  25. Try the Beta version of the viewer to see if that makes any difference. If not try using Kirstens Viewer if you need all those Viewer 2 features.
