  1. A. Once again I'm not having any issues with the forums or posting to them. I've tried chrome and safari and have had no issues. B. everything I see on the GSP was there yesterday except today's rolling restart announcement which always posts after I go to bed USA time.
  2. I remember the "old days in SL" when people were allowed to post comments to the GSP. What a hilarious flaming mess that was.
  3. What you should expect is honest people asking you to tell us where all this gloom and doom login failure is happening. I visit RC channels in SL all the time and nothing like what you describe happens to me. Unless you provide specifics on locations and your computer hardware I'm going to decide you're a troll and start ignoring you.
  4. Non-Firefox user here and having no issues with the forums.
  5. It could also be an NVidia bug. I downloaded and installed their latest Beta drivers (304.79) and instantly got the pink alpha glitch. I rolled back to the previous beta drivers (304.48) and it's all good again.

  7. You didn't post your graphics settings or the specs for the computer, but from the video which shows your mini map and the view your avatar has off into the distance I would suggest you have your draw distance set too high for that computer. Try setting your draw distance lower.
  8. Lydia ... what regions are affected? Name one. ANY one. I want to see this for myself. I've asked before and you continue to complain but refuse to post a single location anyone can check.

  11. Lydia, I am intrigued. I haven't found anywhere in SL that behaves like you describe. Could you post some region names so I can go experience all these difficulties you describe?
  12. I've been inworld all weekend shopping, hosting events and generally exploring and dressing my avatar. I've had no trouble logging in or with TPs, very little lag (I turn my draw distance down to 128m when I shop) and while my inventory has from time to time taken a minute or two to change an outfit or item it's only failed once or twice to load notecards. Busy regions have taken time to render, but they eventually do and frankly that's to be expected given how people load themselves down with scripts and prims. I have crossed sim borders at sale events with minimal disruption. If your inworld experience is so bad I seriously hope you find the trouble and correct it. I have a computer with a mid-range AMD CPU and mid-level graphics card and play SL on high settings mostly. In my experience most lag people experience inworld is the result of them setting their graphics higher than their computer can reasonably handle, draw distances set too high, not clearing cache occasionally, and poor internet connections (low bandwidth, high ping and lost packets). I pay tier in SL on 1/2 mainland region and for the record it's the ONLY user generated content grid with serious concurrency to make all the things people want to do inworld possible. My tier is "relatively" fair but I sure wouldn't complain if they lowered it a little, but that's not likely since they're in business to make money not give it away. But then I also don't expect Subaru to send me a bunch of money as a rebate for the 2003 model I own because I whine about high car prices. Have a nice SL week!

  14. Yes except the charts are logarithmic so the difference between 1.0 and 1.25 is not all that much (on the 28 day stability chart). And on the 6 month stability chart it shows almost no change/flat. It's not reflecting "the sky is falling" rhetoric. You shouldn't do % comparisons on log graphs. Concurrency is always a matter of argument but as long as the transactions keep up it's also not that big of a deal (fewer alts swapping the same L$). People come and people go. In fact even the "experimental charts" show a relatively flat SL both for concurrency and stability over the last year. That's remarkable in this world economy we have these days. And none of this relates back to the experience 5 years ago when things were pretty horrid; we no longer sink into the ground, slide uncontrolably down slopes, have the entire grid offline for at least one day often 2 days each rolling restart, griefers don't routinely crash regions anymore, graphics are better, build tools are better, we don't run into as many bot farms or ad farms as we did 5 years ago either, and avatars have improved quite a bit. Of course people with old or underpowered computers are suffering, but that's technology marching forward. And I've never lost a single item from my inventory, but I keep it meticulously arranged and I don't have to search for things ... I know where they are. In my experience most lag people experience is related to people not restarting their sims when they get laggy or having their draw distance exceeding their system's capability.
  15. SL is far more stable and predictable than it was 3 years ago. Compared to 5 years ago it's like heaven now. To find out what is crashing your viewer look at the viewer crash logs. As for the rest of your post ... that is all a matter of preference.

  17. Check the viewer crash log and determine the reason for the crash. Everything else is speculation.
  18. Welcome to the forums, Tray ... Personally I've had no issues rezzing objects (I do it all the time) and I've had very few crashes recently. If you want help you need to post your system specs, region where this happened, what viewer you're using and version of the viewer you're using ... and the viewer crash log would be most helpful.
  19. V3 would run as fast as V1's used to if people updated their computers. Unfortunately many people can't or won't upgrade which leaves them with a poorly performing SL viewer. And this isn't unique to SL ... If you tried running any current new-release online game on average 2008 hardware it would be a bad experience.
  20. I don't see much if any monetary savings in region idling; the region is still online, only at a reduced fps, it's still occupying server space, still consuming electricity, and it's still available if the owner or anyone else looks at it. I think there will be a positive effect on the performance of the other regions sharing a server when one or more of the regions on the server goes into idling mode. I don't forsee a negative.
  21. Anyone who pays teir on a parcel falls into the same group (called land owners) Estate or Mainland. An idle region is the same either place and since estates routinely share servers with mainland regions it would make no sense to keep an idle estate active. Just sayin'
  22. Question: "Can I trust you guys with my money?" Answer: No, give it to Cincia and she'll take good care of it for you (snicker)! :matte-motes-tongue:
  23. Not for me. I haven't had any issues with either TPs or logins. The asset servers have been wonky as usual but otherwise SL is humming along nicely.
  24. Actually ... the memory bloat has been around since at least V1 1.23 so blaming it on mesh is not entirely accurate. The memory bloat has been made more obvious by viewer updates since 1.23 because the grid has gotten more complex over time requiring more data and frankly mesh is still a small part of that complexity.
