  4. I think the point is there is zero benefit to be gained from repeatedly posting about minutia like the GSP. A wiser course of action would be assuming rolling restarts WILL happen on every Tuesday and Wednesday and focus on the release notes when they become available.
  5. If its an LL update causing the trouble anyone affected should file a support ticket. If it happened to their old products its likely to happen to any replacement as well unless they made a change to the replacement product to prevent the issue.
  6. Thanks, Perrie ... nice, concise explanation and debunking of misinformation about SSA/SSB.
  7. Sounds more like a network connection problem than an SSB/SSA issue. If it was SSA everyone would have the same problem, not just you.
  8. Restarting the main grid regions even without updates? Rolling Restarts Main ChannelPosted by Status Desk on August 13th, 2013 at 12:33 am PDT[Posted 12:28 pm PDT, 13 August 2013] We will be performing rolling restarts for regions on the main Second Life server channel on Tuesday, August 13, beginning at approximately 5:00AM PDT. Please refrain from rezzing no copy objects, making inworld L$ transactions and remember to save all builds.
  9. Given the slow pace of updates to Firestorm compared to the updates to the LL viewer it's no surprise fixes don't come along as quickly.
  10. You're not screwed, you're getting exactly what you paid for. :womantongue:
  11. Re: Deploys for the week of 2013-07-24 ‎07-24-2013 02:19 PM Hi Lucia, I can confirm that there was a 'false alarm' to many regions; many regions sent out a false restart warning during the roll. We're looking into this issue to ensure that it doesn't happen again. From Maestro Linden
  12. Haha not surprisingly SL is not on the GeForce Experience list of games it recognizes to optimize settings.
  13. As far as I know there are no true 64-bit viewers for SL and has been mentioned earlier the challenge to compiling a 64-bit viewer is unavailabilty of 64-bit libraries. Several viewers have enabled Large Addess Aware (LAA) to get around the 2GB memory limit.
  14. I have an EVGA graphics card and use Precision X to control fan speed and keep my temp in check.
  15. I think what is at the heart of the issue here is the same thing that's been discussed in the past; people being distracted and not noticing the warnings that begin 5 minutes before a region undergoes a scheudled restart on Tuesday or Wednesday each week. Since the rolls take a couple hours minimum I don't see the value of a grid-wide message unless it's spammed repeatedly to catch people as they log in.

  17. There is a chat bar. You have to pull it out of the Chat Console and place it where you want it. Then you can have a local chat small console OR a single line chat bar. It all depends how you set it up.
  18. The problem must be RL location specific. I'm located in the midwest USA and I hadn't had a single failed TP over the weekend unless a region I was going to was full. And I did lots of shopping. Also, I'm using the LL beta viewer.
  19. How many services do you get emails from in SL?
  20. Hey Wolf ... perhaps you missed it but the rolls are scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday the 5th.
  21. /me runs around waving her hands wildly over her head screaming "must ... know ... SSB stuffs ... now!" Of course SSB will be the death of SL. I just wanted to be the first to say that in this thread lol.
  22. Sounds good ... keep in mind that there was no rolling restart for the main grid this week so it could be that some regions are getting laggy, especially if they've been busy regions or are sharing a server with other busy regions.
  23. A couple thoughts: 1. Are you connecting to the internet via wireless? If you are, switch to an ethernet cable and see if that fixes your issue. 2. You say your speed and packet loss are in the green but what is the actual speed of your internet connection and what bandwidth setting are you using in your viewer? The viewer bandwidth setting should be a little lower than your actual internet speed (not the speed advertised by your ISP). The Phoenix/Firestorm devs recommend the viewer bandwidth be set at, or below, 1500. 3. Aside from internet speed and packet loss, what is your ping time to SL? High ping times cause bad things to happen. 4. The message " ... region has begun the logout process" generally indicates you're being disconnected on your end not SL's. 5. Comparing SL to watching streaming movies and music is apples to oranges ... as long as your computer reconnects to the internet before the buffer runs out you'd never notice. However, even a brief disconnect on your end will end your connection to SL. Good luck with your issue.
  24. Kahlie Niven wrote: - About Ginko .. of course, back in 2007, Ginko had to be blamed (and maybe my greediness at that time too) ... What I was stating is that LL provoked the panick that made all those SL banks fail at a single time (which was the prelude to subprime crisis, ..interesting how SL can pre-empt fashions), by forbidding gambling. That said, at that time I only thought "well, I took risks to earn insane interests and I lost" .. normal, and not really subject to rant, but still happened. - About losing money, yes I did, providing LL won't change its policy about withdrawal and sticks us to paypal..as it slows down the move of money...it creates a liquidity crisis, which is a loss as long as the business goes on (postponed income)...not really a thievery, excepted that money stays longer in LL's hands instead in our hands (so they earn interests on it, and we lose some). - About Paypal, don't worry, I already have a verified account since 2009. (was originally using Lindex + paypal, then virwox + paypal, then virwox+skrill, when paypal changed their rules in 2011). - About TPEs, I'll only refer to term 1 of the TOS and the 30 days delay that wasn't respected here. About SL banks ... they never were really banks they were other residents operating ponzi/pyramid schemes and were doomed to failure from the start. Good riddance. About LL causing an inworld business to have a liquidity crisis ... actually LL makes all the L$ that get transferred and some people "cash out". LL doesn't invest L$ (like a bank or investment house) because they're not really money and you can't take them to JP Morgan and deposit them ... LL simply transfers them around. If a business has a liquidity crisis it's of its own doing through poor planning and honestly just "part of the game". About the ToS and 30 days ... RL laws and enforcement agencies couldn't care less about the ToS of a virtual world. When the agencies say "do it now" it gets done NOW.
  25. Perrie Juran wrote: ... " Really, I am still of the opinion that most of the Devs at LL don't have Second Lives ..." Exactly ... nor do I think devs with busy SL inworld accounts would accomplish much given what happened to the devs who got too cozy with residents in the past. I think its better the devs stick to their code writing and let the residents tell them when something is less than optimal. Because in the scheme of things SL works much better now than it ever has and the annoyances we all mention in the forums are just that ... annoyances, not deal breakers, and anyone who thinks they are would never have survived the way the grid operated (frequently it didn't operate at all) 2003 - 2007.
