  1. Indeed, it is tiring. A sort of "Side Peeve" on this too: Both have a thriving creator community (in fact at least one Furry Community creator.store moved over to VRC some time ago) but there are a few key differences there as well: For Second Life, you see more of a focus on things an end user can buy with the in world currency to utilize with some offering custom commissions, most of those being relatively 'cheap' to get. VRC? Public Avatars exist, yes and they are free to grab. if you want something custom made you'll need to either shell out a semi-good chunk of RL change to do so (sometimes having to also shell out money to get specific models/parts so you can show you 'own' them before a creator will do any work for you) or you have to learn and utilize some rather specific programs that also cost money to grab (don't get me started on the cost of an Adobe subscription just to use Substance painter) just so you can 'do it yourself'. Sure, Second Life has a learning curve for Content Creators but. .. you generally don't need to learn much at all if you want to make a quick customization, especially if it can be accomplished with just a handful of parts that do not cost an arm and a leg - at most.
  2. Ya know what, I'm going to touch on a major Peeve stemming from the thread that prompted one of my more recent posts: Comparisons between Second Life and VR Chat. This will be coming from the perspective of someone who does have a presence in both. On the very surface they're similar enough, yes. One of the biggest differences (outside of the enforced First Person perspective) is in the way each presents their 'world': Second Life has the potential to have entire regions linked to each other, allowing you to walk/run/fly/swim/bike/drive/sail/etc from one to another. VRC .... does not. Second Life has an actual inventory and allows you to change out avatar components of any type on the fly. VRC ... does not. Both allow custom content. Both prefer Adult activities to be done in private. Second Life keeps its youngest users (below the age of Consent) limited to one type/rating of region (assuming they're properly flagged/have their Birth Dates entered truthfully). VRC ... does not. Graphically, both have their strengths and weaknesses - I have a few snapshots I and my friends have taken within VRC that I can send via PM if one is interested (only select ones would be sent, the ones I personally liked most or that showcased cool things). The scripting languages used for each have their strengths and weaknesses as well. There are many things that one has as an advantage on over the other (flight is somewhat better in VRC than here but being that it is First Person only, you'd best be ready to pilot 'normally') but most of these will be subjective. I could go on but I won't as I include the above only as additional background for the actual Peeve itself: Comparisons between the two that pretend they're aimed at the same audiences, are in the same category/league as each other, that insist that Second Life should take a page out of their book (or any other program's book) ... Let Second Life be Second Life.
  3. *snorts* That is getting into a whole other kettle of fish that I'm just not going to touch on outside of state that it is my personal opinion that mobile access to Second Life should be treated as a task for TPV Devs at worst and should focus more on offering methods to message users, manage inventory and pay parcel rent. A 3D view is ... a bonus but not required.
  4. Nor should they want to. I live with one of the trash talker FPS player types ... Keep them out of and away from Second Life.
  5. User A starts a thread complaining about mostly trivial things/things that are not up to their standards/things that would make SL more like other programs or VWs, presents these complaints as Objective Truth. User B chimes in with their usual whines concerning even more subjective tripe, prompting much eye rolling. Rather than bother with the thread, a comment was made here in a rather more generalized tone ... User B comes and chimes in with what is supposed to read as a witty rejoinder, pretending it is an actual Peeve. SSDD. ETA: Now ... here's hoping these remain up.
  6. That's nice for them. This isn't Fortnite. It isn't an FPS of any stripe. Their concurrency is irrelevant.
  7. That did not take long for another variant to show up now did it? And another one that is - as always - pretending to see something which spells Doom! Give it a rest, hmm?
  8. Well would you look at that! Yet another "Second Life is dying because of <fill in the blank with some often trivial or subjective criteria/BS>1!eleven" Seriously, give it a rest already folks. Especially with the blasted hyperbolic nonsense!
  9. No one should need to do so - at all. No one should be expected to do so - at all. I'll stick around myself but my opinion (and related 'peeve') on the entire matter? Refusal to just shut it all down and stop pretending to want any sort of discussion space.
  10. Related: People taking untargeted actions far too personally or reading too far into things and thus coming away with the notion that they're unwelcome (or any similar such) ... sit down and take a breath.
  11. Ah yes, because a peeve relating to this sort of thing cannot at all be talking about a point before a thread has had things removed/rearranged .... As if that does not happen at all.
  12. Very little of that actually belonged within the confines of this thread outside of the initial post and even then it was pushing things. In the end it does not much matter as this has become the norm as well and is tiring in its own way. That goes back to an earlier stated peeve of mine with regard to administrative things here ... One that also appears to have nixed some posts in another topic with no discernible reason to have done so whatsoever.
  13. ... Want to 'discuss' spiritual or similar matters? Make a proper thread for it or find a spot in world. Ending this brief comment with a related peeve: The idea/notion that there is any sort of perfection, that a world can exist with little to no strife of any kind ... and similar thoughts. No. Just no. And no, I'm not elaborating here - not even in a dedicated thread. No I won't elaborate privately. I won't elaborate in some in world setting either. Welcome to life. All life. Every single stage. Tiresome, isn't it?
  14. Only made the post because of how that part read. Though to be fair any parcel or region admin that does not give a user a bit of lead time upon arrival to see if their clothing is just being slow to rez in is. .. Well they shouldn't be doing any sort of admin duties if they shoot first. if they're worth their salt they will give a bit of time for loading and will wait to see if anyone complains about you being nude. Then they should message to see if you are indeed wearing anything. One should not be punished for such glitchery.
  15. Just gonna comment on this: Not to make you more self aware or anything but how long it takes for you to see your clothing differs from how long it might take those theoretical admins to see it load in.
  16. Or perhaps - just perhaps - the oh so lovely visuals are a secondary and lesser stimulator to you then reading what is going on. No need to feel self-conscious over that. Indeed, things like that are one of my own peeves from the past and a reason I am so very selective these days ... I prefer to read with any visuals and such being a secondary input.
  17. I see that the child has returned .... And has made an attempt to drag the name of one of the few remaining third party fora through the mud with their BS ... No one there would tolerate this sort of crap either.
  18. Oh it was! I'd saved my dark chocolate one from a variety pack my sister also sent me for Christmas to use for just that occasion. I'd used some of the others in a similar manner in my 'boring' Folgers (the custom roast from Sam's I am afraid) to great effect so .. yeah. And to keep somewhat on topic, my peeve for this post? That right now I have to try and save money thanks to a bit of a looming housing issue ... otherwise i'd possibly get more Bones and some more of that flavored hot chocolate! That or a bottle of Kahlua or Disaronno .... I could use a drink ....
  19. Oh trust me, not a problem. I had my last cup of the stuff using some flavored hot chocolate mix as a substitute for the powdered creamer and .... just yum!
  20. Oh it is. Depending on how you prepare it and what you add after will determine how rich the flavor actually is. If all you have is a traditional coffee maker, brew as you would most of your coffee. If you take cream/creamer and sugar, use a small bit less of each. If desired you can cut the bitterness a bit by adding a pinch of salt either directly to the mug or to the basket before brewing. Thanks to the pricing of it though, I'd use it sparingly.
  21. On the discussion regarding coffee: When I can I sometimes do get some Bones coffee but have not been able to for a while. Last bit of that I had was a Christmas gift from my RL sister - it was one of the Nightmare Before Christmas themed ones - Boogie Mudslide I think. Delicious! I am peeved that I no longer have any left! At least I still have some of the Top of the Morning brand coffee that my Mate bought me left! Golden Hour is the variety and it's from before the brand redesign. Also delicious!
  22. I do believe I have lodged this particular peeve prior ... Children. No, not people RPing children. Not physical (their actual age) children. Children of the sort that cannot own their own words and must go back to delete/edit their posts so as to attempt to scrub the forum record of the things they have said. Children of the sort who will abuse the Report tool in an effort to get said words scrubbed a bit more thoroughly (be it through targeted post deletion or thread deletion via mod intervention). Children of the sort who might carefully construct their responses so as to remain within the ToS if called out on them but are quite certainly taking a swipe at others. Grow up.
