  1. eleven years after first opening, it continues to thrive with more than a petabyte of 3D content created by users http://www.lindenlab.com/releases/linden-lab-is-developing-the-next-generation-virtual-world
  2. so noticing this was taken down, okay, but the second life page was changes, no more rift at all guys? what gives? we know it needs certain things like 60+fps. but some of us know how to get that constantly. and I built this RIG just for SL and the dk2/cv1. so now my investment is wasted? CPU: Intel® Core i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4125 MHz) Memory: 32668 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 10586) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 980/PCIe/SSE2
  3. Well, I open this post for reasons that strangely a day without doing anything out of the ordinary of all my HUD stopped working for no apparent reason, I can see them but when you click to execute the action does not happen absolutely nothing, I use the standard viewer that gives SL, please help Translated using google.
  4. I'm luskwood staff, so I can easily fix my avatar missing issue. clothing, I should be able to fix as I only use one persons clothing but the mesh body would become an issue, but that can be fixed after I reinvest money. otherwise. wipe it! is all I can say. to much crap in there after 9 years lol.
  5. I'll say this. putting tools in place to prevent it from being seens is ok, BUT if it prevents the LSL from seeing the true online status then it's a no go. I've got to many items out and about that RELY on these functions, LL learned from when they planned on nerfing it last time that if they did it would break content. maybe a viewer side change online would be a compermise for people such as yourselves. but this function to hide is not wanted, that was proven the last time
  6. Prok, not a "youngster" been here on another account since 05. this one was made in 07. I remember. trust me, I remember. and Tari. Nobody was being rude. trust me on that, so with that. BYE

  8. Forums are not hosted by LL, they are hosted by Lithium. Typically when everything craps the bed. the forums remain running. the dns get's a bit slow. so that's what you are seeing.

  12. "hacking" of accounts is not taking place. it is accounts being phished, that means users are clicking links they think are legit and giving the bad guys their informations, if SL was being hacked, LL would do what they did in 2006, where they made everybody change their password. so there is no "hack" , now onto your 2 step idea. while that;'s doable, I suspect at this late in the game they will not implement it.
  13. Now I have a rig BUILT to handle anything thrown at it, no BS. I get typically 40 to 60 fps even crowded areas. mostly because of NO Shadows. Draw at 30m. and not trying to over work the gpu. most people "BUT I NEED TO SEE MORE THEN 30M" no, no you do not in a crowded area. take it from a person who spent years on a single core amd pos with a 64mb video card. But if your question is, "can you use higher" yes, yes I can. I can make it out to 1024m. and still get 20fps. but I prefer the high fps so everything is smooth and not matrixy. Settings mode: Firestorm Viewer Skin: Firestorm (Grey) Font Used: Deja Vu (96 dpi) Font Size Adjustment: 0 pt UI Scaling: 1 Draw distance: 30 m Bandwidth: 1400 kbit/s LOD factor: 4 Render quality: Ultra (7/7) Advanced Lighting Model: Yes Texture memory: 1024 MB (1) CPU: Intel® Core i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4124.98 MHz) Memory: 32669 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 10240) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 980/PCIe/SSE2
  14. If you are behind a vpn and trying to do this, turn the vpn off. then try. I've seen this a few times over the years. using a vpn with SL is not nesscary, well if you keep media turned off, then nobody but the lab has your information about location.
  15. all I can think of is they switched vendors which requires new training on the system and this was their only way of handling it.
  16. To those complaining remember, the costs of doing business and being able to accept payments such as LL does and being able to pay out as LL does. requires fee's. These fee's have just went up and they must of figured out they could not asorbe costs like they had been so they are having to pass what they can onto us. while it might seem to some like a "evil" plot. I do not believe it is. it's just one of the factors of doing what they do.
  17. \o/ LL good job! thanks for fixing that, I just rolled/updated most of mine the other night. that's a nasty little bugger. Also guys, I know you find it inconvincing but, these are physical operating systems they use, that had ot be patched and restarted. they HAVE to do that, that means it takes down the grid when they do. and who ever came up with the "you cant do maintaince on fridays" is out of their minds, weekend (fri thru sun) are the best time to do anything. most people are actually not using resources. "but what if it breaks" it's why we have people on call. even in my industry.
  18. the only one I can reply to is the full invisibility, it breaks content. LL had plans to nuke the way the scripting worked, quite a few of us MAKE items that rely on a certain set of functions, once LL heard from creators and the like they choose not to remove the ability. so while setting your self to not be seen online is ok, you can never fully hide from the system. and no they will not change their minds on this, does not matter how stupid you think it is or how it works. we are not breaking millions of items because people want it changed, some items that are around creators have not logged in for YEARS and those items are still used constantly by lots of people. would hate to think the storm that would cause too.
  19. LL will never release the server code they use, The plan years and years ago was for an open source version to be released but licensing and other issues came about and that plan was dropped. so never expect that from LL, but IF you have this running with opensim, then good. you are a step closer. but we are going to need screen shots.
  20. is my current system and if you think I get good frame rates, think again. in busy area's. you'll still get between 12 and 20. that's with 30m draw and no shadows. expect lower if you have higher and shadows on in busy areas. none busy places. I can typically get 70+ fps easily and that's with 128m draw and shadows. so my advice. buy nvidia 970 or 980. if somebody recommends amd, remember amd is not good for SL. never has been. even if they have had good results with it. CPU: Intel® Core i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4124.99 MHz) Memory: 32669 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 10240) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 980/PCIe/SSE2
  21. even with mine, I still only get 12 fps in certain areas. but have learned one thing. busy area. drop that draw distance to minimum. you'll pick good fps up and turn off shadows. CPU: Intel® Core i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4124.99 MHz) Memory: 32669 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 10240) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 980/PCIe/SSE2
  22. my old system is simular to that and even with 8gb of ram and the 980. it was still having issues. even my new one because of how unoptimized sl is, still lags. fps, maybe 30 in crowds (optimistic) outside of that. depending where you are. can get as high as 370. but remember too, if your system is maxed out ram/cpu then it's going to bottle neck, people blame sl for the lag they expereince. while being unoptimized does not help the issue, the biggest culprit is people's old hardware unable to handle the data thrown at it. basically the buses/bandwidth on the mobo is getting bottlenecked and cant move the information as fast as needed. so keep that in mind too.
  23. Go ahead, I've done it for years. works some what, but population is kinda dying off, so it's one of those things, dont expect a massive amount of business from it. I range between 25 and 30 bucks a month.
  24. Banning ip/mac address is irrelevant. as those are very easily changed. so LL putting a ban on anything in this day and age is derp.
