  1. Political Correctness, much of the time, is simply someone trying to control the narrative and actions of others and has been taken way too far -- IMO. Yes, we should be sensitive to others, but I should not have to apologize for every tiny comment that offends someone. Because damn near anything that anyone says will be offensive to someone else - that is just how people and feelings work.
  2. I don't gift from MP very often, so I'm really not sure if it always did that or not. My guess was that the OP did the down vote. The OP is new to the forums and thus why I made the comment I did about it. Ethan would have just made some post saying something like "NO, you are flat out wrong" -- he's very upfront and blunt about pretty much everything.
  3. Quite a few people here have a history of posting inflammatory stuff, but I still don't automatically assume that just about everything they post is a slap in the face. You interpreted the post as saying "anyone who doesn't agree with me is stupid" - whereas, I wouldn't assume such a comment from anyone unless they had actually said those EXACT words in the past. As to you capitalizing EVERYthing -- re-read my comment. I said "pretty much always" -- the "pretty much" is the qualifier that negates if from meaning "EVERYthing". I'm sure the Native Americans are very appreciative of you taking offense for them in this.
  4. Your original statement did not imply or state that you were referring to only those people that we know for a fact are Native American. Even then, they do not all see things the same way and I have no way of knowing this in advance. Granted, if I knew that someone was Native American and did not know their views, I probably would not wish them directly a Happy Thanksgiving. However, if I was giving a general wish out to all folks, or a group of people in my immediate vicinity, even if I knew there was a Native American in the bunch, I would still give the group a Happy Thanksgiving.
  5. I don't see it as trolling in the typical sense. More like a sarcastic post of all the reasons Phorumities sees as ridiculous reasons for not wishing folks a Happy Thanksgiving - the final words pretty much tells us that. It is not totally uncommon for discussions to be started by giving a sarcastic take on the opposing view. You pretty much always interpret anything that Phorumities says in some sort of negative way -- totally because of you bias towards him. I'm pretty sure he could post something totally in agreement with your belief system and you'd still find something wrong with it.
  6. I received a group notice of a store starting their Black Friday sale on Wed. If I ever make an assumption about someone being Native American, I would be accused of being racist, just like if I make an assumption about anyone's race. If someone makes it known ahead of time that they don't want such good wishes, I will not say it directly to them. Otherwise, I'm wishing anyone I come across a "Happy Thanksgiving". And even though I am not at all religious, I was raised saying "Merry Christmas" and I will continue to say it to everyone I come across. There is nothing intentionally offensive in that, but I am not a mind reader and will not go around making assumptions about people's preferences. If someone says they are offended by what I said, I will simply tell them that offense was not my intent. I still will not blindly apologize for my statements simply because they chose to be offended by them. I cannot control how others decide to perceive things and thus their perceptions are not my fault -- thus there is nothing for me to apologize for. We have all gotten way to quick at tossing out apologies simply because someone else decided to take offense at something said or done, no matter the original intent -- and most of that behavior is simply folks that can't seem to live without creating and/or being part of "drama".
  7. This is SL - just about anything is available here. If by chance something isn't, come back in a week or month or so and you'll likely find it then.
  8. I know that it offloads some mesh processing to the GPU rather than the CPU. I've not a clue why things look funny when the CPU handles those things instead of the GPU though.
  9. This thread is on page 4 and every time it pops into my feed, I still read it as "Is SL getting pregnant"
  10. The Windows settings only apply to the Microsoft browser, Internet Explorer or Edge, depending on your Windows version. I deleted all of mine just now and it had no impact on my Chrome or Firefox browsers - they each have their own settings. Clearing cache in a browser is not the same as clearing the stored form data. If you have the browser set to save form data then you would have to specifically clear that data for it to go away. If you uninstall and then re-install a browser, typically the uninstall will not wipe out your personal settings unless you specifically tell it to, thus your browser form data could possibly be saved across many re-installs. After deleting all of the browser form data, I went to the MP, using Internet Explorer/Edge/whatever-they-want-to-call-it. I selected an item and clicked "add to cart as gift" and there was no drop down of people to choose from. I then typed in a name and went to check and checked out. However, I had not yet logged in so it prompted me to do that and I then completed the checkout. Now that I was logged in, I then went back to the same item and again clicked "add to cart as gift". It immediately showed a drop-down with a list all of the people that I had previously sent gifts to from the MP. I then logged myself out and logged in an alt that had never sent a gift. I went to the same item again and did the "add to cart as a gift" and there was no drop down list of names to pick from. Thus the list is avatar specific and maintained by SL rather than your computer browser. Until one knows for a fact that an answer is totally flat out wrong, a down vote should never be given. Lindal - I voted you back up.
  11. As Callum said - that 8192 donation to a private estate group is wasted money that you are just throwing away. Donating to that group does nothing for you, you will cause you to pay tier to LL. Take the tier donation back so that your payments to LL go away.
  12. Given the area is technically a No Fly area, it being in the sky will throw many people off - and they only have until Monday to get the gift.
  13. The rust might work too - while the coat would be similar to your hair color, there would be a barrier between the two with the fur. Then the coat and hair might complement each other well.
  14. I'd usually go with black, but in this case I'd actually go for the grey, so that the fur collar doesn't blend too much with your hair.
  15. And specifically to your question about using them for their L$: I created mine primarily as Premium alts to donate their tier for the land I own. IF (big 'if') I left their L$ balance alone, then at the end of the year I could cash each one out and the L$ would just about pay for all of the Premium renewal fee. However, I am a shopping addict and thus will sometimes go in and steal their L$ for my Lil's personal use -- it saves me the LindeX fee of putting in real money and buying L$. Now, if you wanted the alts just to get around the LindeX limits, there might be some issues. Otherwise, have at it and have fun.
  16. Nobody said you couldn't change it. As a matter of fact, a few pointed you to the code base and said to go for it.
  17. Well, "off topic" is a matter of interpretation and very subjective. Typically, an OP has a very strong idea of what their topic means, but it can often mean many things to many people. Additionally, the minute you said the following, in your opening post, you introduced the sub-topic of whether or not sims should upgrade to mesh - even if you did not intend to.
  18. One great reason for an alt account -- to be the mandatory second person in a group. Another good use of alts is making them Premium and donating their tier to a land group for mainland ownership.
  19. Keep the bottom option ticked 'Yes' -- that way you'll at least get a notification if something does manage to update and wants to restart the computer. I've had the top two turned off for ages, but the stupid thing still sometimes updates (though best I can tell, not near as often as others get updates). I currently have an update that somehow happened and hit the 'restart' point, but since I've disabled the auto-restarts, it is just telling me that I need to restart. If nothing else, it gives me time to do searches on those updates to see if they are possibly going to break stuff.
  20. Release as often as desired, but do NOT force it on me. I know all too well what sort of screw-ups can happen in those wonderful 2 week agile cycles.
  21. Apparently nobody informed you that once you start a thread, you basically have no control over where it goes. As long as it isn't violating TOS or Community Standards, threads will sometimes meander and you cannot dictate the path.
  22. Apparently they forgot to set Move Lock on the box and one of those ice boulders bounced it - them suckers threw me pretty good too.
