I think you're right. Good reason not to unlist something! Just buy viewing reports, I see one dress has 3500 views, and a new one 2. LOL There you have it!
  2. I wonder who's in and who's out? This would change the playing field on who has a chance of being a sucess.
  3. FYI... the reports show newer items not viewed much, I think this might be related to how I list the actual box, and NOT what I call it on MP.They must use the object name as the search base. I might change the way the object is titled and see if that helps. Just an idea. I might have answered my own question.
  4. I used to do very well on MP. I always made sales. I've improved as a designer and would love for some of my newer items to make the grid. The strange thing is, only my older items sell. I have no idea why, and price isn't an issue, other than I have a few 10 Linden items, and that has not changed, those sell. Innworld, sales are even. No issues. Until they started messing with MP my sales were evenly based on MP, old or new and pricing not an issue. Not now. Only the oldest listed sell the most, those older than 1 year with a rare occasion of newer items selling. Does anyone else have this issue? Also, does LL fool with the search of MP or is it fair game? I really don't know these answers. I don't pay for listing. Everyone seems to think this is a waste of money. I used to list a long time ago, but those items didn't do any better and the fees are really high. Just gathering information here. Thanks.

Which means either LL is using the wrong description for registered hobbyists or LL intends to limit new features to only the few companies still making content for SL like Modavia. I.e.; LL needs to post the blog article on this "Professional Content Creator" program so people can make/prepare for their decisions as to whether or not they will remain in business in SL. Hi Anne, your comment has me lost. Is not going to be available across the grid?
  6. Chelle Petlyakov wrote: My clothing is sold copy/no mod, except all prim pieces are copy/modifyable. I do not include a resize script and will help a customer fit their purchase if asked. I think this is a perfect option. And I've done this too. If someone purchases something of mine that isn't fitting correctly I can fix it for them. When I was a noob, I remember having real troubles with prim skirts and borking them in my effort to make them work. This is a good thread because it's giving me ideas about my skirts. I think I will include a removeable script going forward with mod on skirt and no mod on the other items. I wouldn't think anyone would mod a pant or shirt because it blurs the lines the designers draw, but I could be wrong!
  7. Thank you for referrals. I think turning off physics is good sense. I did not think of it! I think the dresses with the crotch flap are ugly and In never wore them... I did make ONE. I gave it away for free. It never looked right!! So I never made another one!
  8. I heard they will not release some of these tools (not shown) to the general population. Anyone else know about this?
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGPiywc6Hh0&feature=player_embedded I hope this isn't a cross post. I did a search but nothing came up. I'm really excited about these new tools. One of the things that Linden Realms has done is give the Lindens a clear picture of some of our challenges as we build and design. The teleporter and temp hud are one! This is good and positive news! Can't wait to try this. Just today I was struggling with a teleporter that wouldn't go farther than 500 meters. Yay!
  10. Pussycat Catnap wrote: I'm almost -ONLY- buying mesh now. For one thing I've been able to find a plethoria of items that either fit me or are close. For another, most of it is not tramp-wear, so I can feel more comfortable wearing it. The 'buttcrack or jeans -below- crotch level' look might work for some, but not for me. I like some racey outfits some of the time, but don't like looking like a $2 whore all of the time... Most of the mesh clothes are either elegant, or normal wear. A nice comfortable spot to be. I would like to see some African dresses, but I know that's a niche so it'll likely not happen unless or until I myself learn how to do it. The mesh clothes -AND- mesh furniture just look so vastly better than the non-mesh stuff most of the time... I'd love some recommendations. There are many designers so perhaps I've not found the right one yet. I think you're right. It's going to improve! I don't make **bleep**-wear. My designers are conservative, other than some lingerie. I'm very conservative dresser, too.
  11. I've tried several outfits but, 1. I look fat. It adds pounds to my avatar. 2. My boobs pop out when I move. 3. The mesh doesn't move with my physics. 4. I am a flexy skirt lover. So... No decison yet, but I'm going to keep trying it and maybe someday making it, but right now I'm just not there yet. I might try the shoes.
  12. As a designer I think a lot about permissions. Also, as someone who likes to modify, I like that option when I buy. Now, this question is about skirts. I have made my skirts in various ways. 1. No mod with a resizer 2. Mod 3 No mod. There is no doubt to me that people need to adjust prim skirts, but the rezzers just make the prim smaller or larger and doesn't allow things like lateral shifts to prevent poking out, etc. I have purchased many gowns and from expensive designers. Some have no modify, some don't. So there seems to be different thoughts. As I grow as a designer and get better, this question almost always pops in my mind when I boxing up a gown. I no longer use the script to change sizes b/c we don't need more scripts running, and I have for the most part been selling nearly all my gowns with modify, copy but no transfer. What are your feelings about this? I know that some worry that others will take their information to reproduce their skirts, but in all honesty, most people have their own vision for their gowns, so that's not a worry for me. But are there any other reasons to lock down prim skirts? And why do some do it and others not? Is it really a personal decision or is there any other worries?
  13. emmettcullen93 wrote: maybe i should do that as most the ppl in my contacts are partners in clubs i work at or other jobs in sl. Whoops! I should clarify. Once ppls get jobs at clubs they usually spam their friends. Even my good friend started doing this to me recently and I'm one click away from removing her. Reason. Example. I was building something and one of her blind tp's popped up, and I hit it by mistake and was propelled from my build. I don't spam my friends to come to my store. I have a group for that. If you and your friends are active in clubs then it wouldn't bother you. ;--)
  14. I don't believe that LL have any duty to us to tell us anything through a blog or otherwise, but with the nature of SL it's nice when they do, and it would make the world a better place if it didn't seem to be so much "them (the Lindens) and us (the residents)". Wait? They provide a service we pay for (some of us) and they do owe us communication if they change the terms of the service. This isn't Facebook. That's free. This isn't. (for some of us).
  15. Lucinda Bulloch wrote: Do you feel that SL is changing so much that you don't know where you are. As in physical space? I know where I am, but mentally, the changes can be overwhelming. I'm one of those who follow every change, mainly because I invest monies I really shouldn't be spending in a virtual world. I'm just always weighing if the value is there when we have no say in the direction of our investment. Do you feel it is becoming elitist controlled and push out others that don't agree. Depends, and this question needs clarification to answer. Elitist how? Does the way SL treat you make you feel under valued and worthless. You mean Linden Labs? Again, because I invest here, I'm more worried that I'm building something that might collapse in on me...no control at all... free falling and money flying out of my wallet. Did you invest to much and now feel you were wasting your time. I spend 90% of my time here working on clothing designs. I have thought, given the terrible market for clothing due to freebies and hunts, and glut, that maybe I am wasting time... I have considered packing up and walking away...and going back to writing novels. I can't say I wasted time here, that would devalue what I've learned, and a special someone I've met through SL. I'd say I waste more time reading forums than anything else, but it's the only way to find out what's going on with the lab. Or are you addicted and still in love with SL. Define that. I'd say I have issues... and that it would be extremely hard, and might need Betty Ford, to really get out of SL and stop reading about it. I will always love SL, as the memories are as real as RL. Our brains really can't tell the difference from the exeriences and emotions we share here.
  16. rodvik.linden Hey folks, as I mentioned to some of you over the weekend I am going to do the next roundtable stuff in private one on one's rather than as a free for all. That makes it more low key and doesnt turn it into something which is contentious. Thanks for all the feedback. https://my.secondlife.com/rodvik.linden Why does he think it would be contentious?:matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  17. I very recently cleaned out my friend's list. First pass I knocked out about 20 people. I waited another two weeks and knocked out another ten. I only have maybe 15 now with 3 or 5 online. I did this because I had pages and pages of people I never talk to. It's like this, if people can't say hello, then what's the point? Lot of times people would just friend me for no apparent reason, then just reside on my list. I remember once sending out invitations to a very important fashion show, and only those I talk to showed up (and many were online), so I thought, forget it. This way I am no longer bothered with blind tp's to clubs (which is a disease of women who get jobs in clubs), and no more pop ups of log in and log outs of people who don't say hello or bother to care about what is important for my Second Life. Life is too short for meaningless relationships even in SL.

Ticee Nansen wrote: Basically a lot of people go through hell and back in order to look unique and stand out from the "dumb" crowd in every MMO, World of Warcraft, Everquest, Star Wars, whatever.. the major difference is just that in the mentioned games you have a preset amount of clothing and avatar choices available, and you roughly pay the same prices when it comes to it, and you always know it's possible to meet others looking like yourself.. but it doesn't necessarily matter that much if one or two look like you, since it's not really the main focus of the game, you probably play better than them. On SL everything is player made, there's a endlessly huge amounts of different combinations, so you expect to be unique, and eventually you end up paying massively to achieve that. Furthermore there's no other primary gameplay to put character customization a bit as a second hobby.. No, it's the main point of SL, to stand out, to be special and attract attention in whatever form you want. Basically all this means that people copying your avatar is really a spear through your soul - I can't speak for all, but I know my avatars looks is a result of years of experience, items and ideas of how to combine it all.. I wouldn't expect anyone on this entire overpopulated globe to come up with the same looks, so if some noob just walks up and copies it completely, I'd be willing to catch a plane and go strangulate the offender, litterally. It's basically identity theft, which in my mind is one of the most nasty crimes you can commit. I totally agree! I am like you. Nothing free about me. LOL. I've worked for a long time to get my avi to be who she is, and I'd not like anyone to look like me! I've never personally heard about someone copying avatars. That would piss me off!
  19. I have spoken to her and she's sweet about it, but I'd have to contact her all the time and it's too much work.

The roads have ditches around them and they often have a car struggling like a beetle on it's back! Also if someone's prim is hanging on your land, does it take up prim count? And can't you just return it through the return object option? FWIW, AnnMarie is pretty good at picking up her vehicles when there's an issue. Send her a notecard inworld and point out that it's a recurring issue. Prims will only take up your count if they're centered on your land - in which case, they could be returned normaly. If they're not centered on your land, then they cannot be returned. They can be ARed, however, if they are indeed encroaching onto your property. I have talked to Anne, but it would be a fulltime job.
  21. I have sent owners the coordinates of their vehicles,, but never knewif they could get them, or if it was the land owner who returned it. After my last series of posts, I turned off my ban lines for good! I was not aware of their evilness. Regarding this encroaching prim return, how does his work? I am confused. 22. I thought derender was in all viewers. Dooh. While inworld file an abuse through the viewer; you can take a snapshot. I've had luck with this. Linden does respond.
  23. PS. I can honestly say that I am a frequent customer to a few clubs that have strict codes about who can enter (some at a membership fee), and I like that.

That's a ToS violation, and if it was not, LL would be in violation of California anti-discrimination law. But intolerance of Star Trek geeks versus Babylon 5 geeks versus 'two & a half men' geeks... that's not the same thing. Frustrating as a furry / neko that some places bar on such a stupid basis, but its not the same thing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is my understanding that LL does not police.
