  1. So glad I am not the only one. I'd think these skybox builders would benefit from a better catagory. I find the catagories very limiting whenI am listing. :manfrustrated:
  2. Thanks for the answer. I thought Building Componets were "things to build with."
  3. I have had a similiar issue. Have for long time. I use Jacket layers quite often to get around this.If you want to make a pant over it, you could use the jacket laywer lower for the pant top. And, make a regular pair of pants that would give the legs, but be hidden by the jacket layer. They could wear the pants either way, but might need to be spelled out clearly in file descriptions. Just an idea. Maybe not a good one! LOL
  4. Does anyone know why *Skyboxes* get listed on Market Place under *Building Componants?* Just curious because it's a lot of them, not just someone who liisted wrong. Hope everyone is having a good start to their weekend.
  5. I've heard women on voice with kids screaming in the background. And them saying, "not now." Or something like that. It's sad no matter what they're doing here, because if they're here, they're not with the children. Also, I know men who come on SL while at work. In fact, I've met way too many! Coming into SL while working takes a lot of huevos.
  6. @Charolette, good point. But has anyone had IM's disappear? LOL... Things that go bonk in the night!
  7. I take all feedback very seriously. And of course we can learn things. Yet, if they don't wish to be helped, then what can anyone do? Nothing. Move on. She said to me that she was "helping me," but the item was beautiful? Seems contradictory. A 3 star maybe would be more reasonable to her responses back to me, now in English... Anyways... I examined the item in her viewer. Singularity was totally borked on my system. The graphics were pixelated. I noted that the boots were higher on my leg since I made them, since I made my avi taller, but they could be repositioned. There is a sizer in them (tho I am not using the extra scripts these days), so over all, they could be adjusted. The texture is just white. They are patent leather boots, white. Not much I can do with a shiny texture. Patent leather is, well patent leather. Never ever would I not appreciate customers. My rant was the retarded review. From a 5 to a 1 from a customer who didn't want a refund or any help, just wanted to "help me be better." Just strange and that is what I was in the mood to rant, nothing more. We all have those ranting days. and Rya, you are RIGHT. Once I was selling very nicely done T shirts, 2 for 10 Lindens. Ok, so I get a complaint that she wanted them in both layers, jacket and shirt. Then she preached to me that "better designers" offered both. Grrr. I made her the shirt layer, but for 10 Lindens they were a steal at the jacket layer. I believe, honestly, that some customers just don't realize the time involved in the design and implementing process. Like this lady who wants to "help" me as if she's any idea the complexity of making boots in SL. Thanks all for tips and trades. Blessings.
  8. She doesn't want refund. She only wishes her review will help me be better. :0 erm ok. I don't see what she sees in her complaint so wish to refund her. She uses Singularity. This is only viewer I don't have loaded. I want customers to be happy...sometimes can't help them be so. Any customer who won't take help or refund is maybe not a customer...
  9. This is jusst a rant, nothing more. But if you want to chime in, cool. Every once in a while I get a review that's ridiculous. Example. I sell a pair of boots for like nothing, not because they are bad boots, but because I just sell them cheap. Fine. Part one of story. Now, I have sold about a million of them. But I have 2 reviews. One is five star, and one is one star. The one star did not contact me, but posted that the item was not "pixilating" at a far distance. She also wrote this in Spanish so I had to use Google translator. Now, I have no idea what viewer she is using, or what her settings are. Future: I am going to include a notecard with some debug settings in my shoes (I don't make many and they have no extra prims, pretty basic). Market Place needs a pop up that says, "Have you notified the merchant for help before you post this review?" Give Peace a Chance
  10. @Amethyst, I did not say this would solve everything. What I posted here was given to me inworld by another merchant when I'd also complained about the Magic Boxes. My failure rate was 90%. There are many merchants I have helped with this information. I hope they chime in here. Either way, it's just something to try. Currently I have not had a failure in months and my box is on Mainland! Like the song says, "go your own way." Just trying to help.
  11. Most merchants are happy to redeliver. Notecards are often recommended b/c IM's cap for most business peoples. This other solution I've not heard of.. But good to know all tricks.
  12. I am assuming you are a buyer. If it isn't delivered, it's not paid. They refund you within a few days. Non delivery is usually caused when a merchant brings their box into inventory and back out, usually moving the store or the box. Every time this is done, the box is duplicated on XStreet. You read that right. Many are not aware of multiple listings of boxes on the old XStreet dash board. Yes, it's still there. To fix this, Merchants need to take their boxes into inventory, then go to Market Place/Merchant Home/Manage Magic Box status. Click thro the warning that XStreet is closed, just cancel this, and on the left side, bottom, delete all the boxes. Then, inworld, put their box out, reset it, go to Market Place Mechant again and Manage Inventory, and synic boxes to site. This will radically improve a merchants non delievery.
  13. @ Pudenta Magic I didn't have the issues with fast alpha that you experienced (with hair). What I did realize after I posted this, was I yanked out all the gowns I'd bought before I made my own and studied their alpha flickering 98% had some form of flicker. My conclusion is that we're all fighting some form of this. I'm also paying closer attention on ballrooms floors to other gowns worn. My conclusion is I've done a good job keeping my textures from showing what I call "spindle legs." I agree that information is key to happy customers, but on that note, someone posted somewhere here that they hated the notecards designers included. One more note as far as viewers, if I'm just exploring and walking around, any viewer is fine, but when I'm building, extra steps and viewers that are not intuitive are discouraging. Also, the load time for the new viewers is terrible for me and I'm running a decent (upgraded) graphic card. Everyone stays "gray" for an hour with newer viewers, and clothing doesn't rez so I'm walking around naked. With Phoenix everything rezzes on queue. Most of us "buy" cars but don't have to be mechanics to drive them. The uber complexities of Second Life can't be listed here. Viewers are getting harder to "drive." It's also relevant to our individual understandings of what viewers can and can't do...again, driving SL should not require a mechanics license. For example of complex, I just got nicked for another month of land fees (1/2 region after I reduced it to 1/4) b/c I didn't understand the complexities of how "group donated land" can jack up your fees, even though I contacted LL prior to the payment due date for help to reduce my fees. That's another topic. Thanks for your note.
  14. Morgaine Christensen, I wasn't aware of this setting but boy does it make a difference in Dodge! I wish "somehow" we all knew about these things! For 2 years I've seen that dang flicker in things and never "knew" there was a setting! Dooh! I try very hard to also have good customer service, and try to do the best I can do. Those who only buy here probably don't know how many hours and uploads designers spend on their items. Thanks all for the responses. I do think Phoniex is the best for builders. It just "makes sense." Firestorm, thou the UI is fantasic, isn't intuitive. Hard to find things. I suppose it will get easier for me, but like Linden's viewer, for me, it's a steep climb. I've been talking to a lot of noobs lately, as they are showing up in ballrooms not usually frequented by noobs because of the viewers "in your face" destination guilde, and boy they are so confused! I can't really help them because I can't figure that viewer out either! Anyways, another topic...
  15. "Anyway to stay on topic in v1 this option was known as Fast Alpha and should be in Advanced -> Rendering. Altho the v1 version isn't as good as the v2 and later version." I don't know how to "quote back" here, but THANK YOU. THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. YAY!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I already decided to re-make the skirt. I'll not use Firestorm to build in the future until everyone is onboard with these newer viewers. This is the first time I used Firestorm to make a skirt. I am **trying** to get used to these new viewers and look what happened! I would have seen this flicker with Phoenix, and I would have textured it differently and now I have to go back and spend X amount of hours fixing something I would have seen with Phoeinix. Sorry if I don't know all these "details" about these viewers, but I've gotten very comfortable with Phoenix. I asked a friend yesterday who was using Phoenix if she thought the skirt wasn't acceptable. She didn't see the issue and wanted a copy of the gown. But I'm going to look at it again anyways, and send her a revised copy. I've never seen a warning about viewers for clothing, other than with Mesh. I've purchased many flickering skirts over the years.
  17. Oh I am glad it's not me! I will include a notecard that the gown looks best in Firestorm. Thanks!
  18. Ok, SO, I made a skirt with Firestorm, and it looks really great. BTW I have made many skirts and always watch for alpha texturing issues. So, I log in with Phoenix and it's a flickering mess. Logged out and back in with Firestorm, no flicker. What's different? Is it a setting? My fear is that someone with Phoenix will buy the dress and be unhappy. Any ideas why one viewer has this issue but not the other?
  19. LL did step up and help me.I did get my money today. I asked for a refund but this exchange didn't oblige that request, and just paid me in USD. Fine. My feeling is banks in SL (even if they can't regulate) should have some critiera they must follow to do business in Second Life. A confirmation number and response time is a place to start. I would advise anyone using 3rd parties to talk to friends about who they use and go with a recommendation. Or use the Linden Exchange.
  20. Linden is now going to look into this. At least they should take their bank off the grid. I read another forum member had issues with this company. I will notfiy Paypal, since they claim to use them. Tho, not sure what they can do. In the meantime, maybe (I hope) this was just a werid glitch and I get paid some day.
  21. Here is what I got. It's all my fault. Okay, fine, but get these people off the grid. 22. Linden told me today I they won't help me. All we can do is get the world out that this is seriously fraud and allowed inworld. This was 181 USD. Total theift and allowed by Linden Labs by washing their hands. Yet this is money that would go back into their economy.
