  1. LOL, almost the same for me Pamela. I built something like 24 sims before I realized that I had made a lot of stuff. They where all corporate sims and no longer online where I said hmmmmmmm, and set my better stuff for sale. I guess the point is, there is no right or wrong, it's still the wild west for the most part. Treat your customers how you want to be treated, lay your store how you would want to shop and most important, make what makes you happy. If you approach this as a business to make money, you may or may not succeed but if you approach this as something you are really excited to do, regardless of the money, in part you will always succeed.
  2. I'm not sure why this happens but it has happened to me too. The one area I seem to see constant problems is with PayPay where most credit cards work. But, I also know that Wells Fargo and other banks will not process for SL unless you contact them and allow this. I would start with your credit card company and see if they have recently declined any transactions from SL.
Buon divertimento!
  4. Anyone can create in SL and you don't need a specific account to do this. A few Lindens Dollars to upload textures and a place to build is all you need. At the core, this is all a user generated world with most of what you see being created by users like yourself. You can get a good start at: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Creation_Portal and you may want to check out some in world schools like the Temple of Prims or the Builders Brewery. Good luck and use these boards if you have any quotations. Many here are very eager to help new creators.
  5. Investing in SL seems to be mostly a scam and I know of many who have lost a lot of money. Not a good idea as LL does not really get involved in transactions between members. As such, you might want to try this: Look for a business model you like and put together a trusted team. Work with them as their Angel or Seed money and build a business you understand and are interested in. You might find being an entrepreneur to be less risky but you also need to keep in mind, that there really isn't a lot of money to be had in SL. If we make a few bucks doing something we like to do, then all the better but for the most part, this is not a business, it's a game.
  6. Sorry and I know the frustration. No, it does not work well and never has. It's a huge disservice for not just merchants but for customers as well. To me, the largest single deficit of the SL platform. Yes, it is better than it was but it still is a mess. IM me in world and I'll help you with some tips on how to manage this better.
  7. The group itself is not responsible however, the owner of that group is. You took the right course of action and you may want to encourage other group members to do the same however, they are not responsible to do so.
  8. Hello Sonya and welcome to SL. Can you tell us a bit more detail please? Are you saying you can't get into a community or that you cannot teleport? Where are you now and what is it you are trying to do? I assume you cannot get off the orientation area but if you follow the lessons on how to use SL, you will also learn how to leave and find the community but I really can't tell from your post.
  11. As usual, I agree with Peggy completely. Exactly why RedZone needed to be banned. Anyone who had used this needs to remove their data from their ban list in that is has been proven over and over that those list are very inaccurate. How much business is your fear costing you? Does anyone think that a customer who has been banned without cause will ever return to do business with you? And at what time is your business in SL more important than other residents privacy?
  12. Waiting for that "right moment" to sell is very simply gambling and unless you are dealing with millions of Lindens, you wont see much difference one way or the other. The market goes up and down by fractions of a cent...not dollars. As Ciaran said however, Lindens sitting in your account is a waste. One point I would like to make is to get a PayPal debit card. It gets you faster access to your funds. Speed has value too.
  13. Also a little button at the top of your chat window that says Translator when you mouse over. Toggle it off.
  14. You have a spam filter in your preferences which I believe is under your security settings in Firestorm. What I does it block spam after a specified amount it reached within a short period. You can set the velocity and length yourself and yes, it is awesome for gesterspam. I'm not logged in atm but as I recall it's either under Security or Chat.
  15. The chat spam filter can be set for velocity in that you can change it to turn off spam based on incoming spam velocity. I would suggest you try to adjust it and try various settings to see what works best for you.
  16. LOL, so true Kylie. I remember when I'd get logged out and had the 5 minute timer..It would practically kill me that I couldn't get back in and for what? Looking back was it really any reason to stress?
  17. Yes, the pear shaped body with the poutty lips? I've noticed that too. Someone is making them and selling a ton of them but to me they look like IMVU avis. I also notice a lot who have them (not meaning to say all mind you) are very obnoxious. Oh yea, and your pants have to half way down your butt or your shoes (usually pumps) have to be huge.
  18. If they are on the same sim under the same owner or group, they already are for prim count. If you want them joined physically, you need to Select the land you want to join (only a few spots at each boarder will work) the select Join Land in your Land Edit window. If they are not on the same sim, you cant since prim allocation is by region/sim.
  19. Ditto Marigold. All technology breaks and just in case no one noticed, it's a freaking game. If you can't log in for a few minutes, go get some sun, get going on that pile of dishes you've been building up for days or read a book. The world doesn't end, lives are not lost and fortunes not at risk if a game goes offline for a bit. I remember when outages where near daily and for most of the day on Tuesdays. Somehow we lived through it.
  20. Not public yet...they have only filed for their IPO.
  21. Josh Susanto wrote: If this is what happens when Whitney Houston dies, just imagine what will happen when Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler or Liza Minelli dies. /me breaks out into a cold sweat at the thought :D
  22. They sort of do already. When I got mine I had to show them my trademark registration as it showed as a trademark name but since we own my name it wasn't too hard to do.
  24. You cannot export animations directly from SL. Im not sure what you need fixed or why you would want to use both. I suggest you use Just Qvanimator and import the animation. You can also create props in qvanimator that help you to set up your pose. If the in world animator makes BVH files for you offworld which it probaly does, just open the BVH in your animation software.
