  1. Gorilla marketing is always your most successful and cost effective way to market in SL. You can advertise in the classifieds which I highly recommend and on MP but other than that, there are not really any advertising vehicles that cross the grid. You can also look into advertising on 3rd party blogs and website though there traffic is sort of low for the most part. I recommend you look at these forums on a regular basis and see who is looking for wedding space. You may also want to talk to merchants who sell tuxes and bridal wear to see if they want to cross market with you. It's really all about hitting the streets at first then it will grow over time.
  2. Not meaning to be rude but Rollig did give you a link on your last post but perhaps you don't read them after you post. Just in case, you can learn how it is done at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Second-Life-Quickstart/ta-p/1087919 and when you get stuck, you can always come back and ask more specific questions.
  3. A HUD could and does mean many things as it only defines how the UI is displayed. Perhaps if you described what you want this HUD to do, you may get a better response.
  4. Firestorm: Ctrl-Alt Q for the Develop menu and then Avatar - Character Tests. Use a character test which should fix it, then try adding back on your clothing. Phoenix: Ctrl D for the Advanced Menu instead. If you are on the old Phoenix, I would upgrade to at least the new one but Phoenix is V1 and having a few issues lately. You may want to use Firestorm.
  5. I take it you bought them from the Second Life website. 1. See if your account has been billed. 2. If not billed, make sure you entered the correct credit card information and/or that your card has not expired. 3. Contact your bank to see if the transaction was submitted, and if declined, why? If all of the above are clear, try again it may have just been a data glitch.
  6. Thanks Irene! I signed it. Edit (edited): and, the moral of this story is to be careful what you whine about..you might NOT get the support you are thinking you would get. (winking at her good friend Sassy)
  7. I imagine that the move to DD will result in a lot of debris being cleaned up on the market place. But maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea if a rule was in place that if a Merchant doesn't log in after 'X' amount of time, say 6 months, their merchandise would be de-listed. I completely agree with what you, Sassy and Amethyst are saying and never really considered what affect DD will have to encourage absentee merchants. Last log in and/or auto deletion would greatly improve this. If no land is needed and no tier needs to be paid, what would discourage a merchant from slamming the MP with stuff and never log back in? Also what impact can this have on the junk that ends up there since now, even though the listing are free, the land space you need for your MP is not. DD removes ALL risk and with no skin in the game, what will happen to the credibility level of the SL merchant?
  8. Piero Padar makes a very easy to use sitter system that I have used for years. You can get one at: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Perfect-Sitter-More-In-Less-Time-Since-2006-For-Sit-Multisit-and-Multipose/1263940 Another and more common option is to use a pose ball and link it to your object. Grab a pose ball script at: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Free-Open-Source-Poseball-Scripts/2048445 then use that and the animation in a ball or whatever you want to use it in. I would try a single pose before moving on to conquer multi pose systems.
  9. Are you looking to buy a mansion or are you just looking to go see some large mansion? If it's the former, most of the really large prefabs I have seen are not the best quality. However, PreFabulous has an incredible mansion that can be seen at his sim here.
  10. If I am reading this right, you are saying you can log in from home but not from work? I would guess your work as blocked SL as most places of employment do.
  11. I completely agree with decision to move your products to adult ratings with those names as they should be. I too have been in game since 2005 however, I would never try to run a store when "For the last year I haven't been in much, but my store is still up." To me, that represents a potential for terrible customer service and is irresponsible. Are you one of those merchants I hear people ranting about on this forum when customers cannot get their products they paid for and cannot reach the merchant? We defend your type here daily and the truth is, you make us all look bad. I don't mean to be ridiculing you but I would think a few failed delivery's and justified changes to your listing to adult are the least of your problems. Paying attention is. If you are not watching the store, who is? They want to make money as we all do but we all want to see a quality user experience for other residents. You being miffed is probably an understatement as to what your consumers have gone through. Sorry to come across as such a **bleep** this morning but bad customer support and not tending to your business also means not paying attention to your customers. Not a good thing in my opinion. Edit: I'm guessing our OP is another post and poof.
  12. I thought I was being followed then I realized I had toilet paper on my shoe.
  13. Are you wanting to remove it so you don't see it or for everyone else? In preferences you can set it on some viewers to not show for you but you cannot remove your regular name from other peoples viewers.
  14. Shoes are actually pretty easy as most set their foot size to 0. It's the ankle that becomes the issue which is why you need to allow mod or have re-sizing scripts. But again, many remove these scripts once they get the object sized. Im my case, if I can't remove the script, I don't keep the object. And again, as long as your prims can be sized, you are good, the textures layers will adjust to the avi.
  15. Sort of. Go to the bottom left of your inventory window and select the + sign. From there you can create clothing items. Once you create it, you wear it and then you can mod it by dropping a texture into one of the texture windows. (as a tip, your new clothing will appear in your Recent tab). If you want to fine tune these, you can create that texture in a graphics program using a template found at: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Clothing_Tutorials
  16. YaY for petite fashions...lol. Actually I am 5'7" in world without heels on and have a very hard time finding things that fit, especially mesh. If you are making mesh, make sure you use small avis but not just in size. Being petite by SL standards often means small shoulders, small waist, small butt and small breast for many. If you are making texture and prim outfits, the textures will automatically size on the avi and the prims can be modified just make sure you make them mod. And please if you are going to use sizing scripts, make sure you can delete them and that your clothes are also copy. Really nothing more to it as long as you have some petite shapes to fit it to. If you are making mesh, please try to understand that many of us are under 6' tall and this number is growing as real sized people become more common.
  17. Facebook and Twitter have direct connections but if you want a more specific audience, you may try http://SLUniverse.com
  18. You also need to set your preferences in your viewer when you log in. Try: Me > Preferences > General and select "General, Moderate, Adult" Then make sure you click "Apply" aka, save.
  19. I assume that you can get to this form and that all the fields are showing just not including your location? Again, not having a landing point set under the land settings is one thing. The other is that you are not in the groups land. Permission to host may not include being in the group that owns the land. You may want to check on that to make sure.
  20. You need to set a landing point to be able to post in the event guide. Most who cannot post are for this reason.
  21. Pamy would have loved you all (of course after she gave you a hard time), just as I do (on both counts there as well i guess). And Pamy...someday we will all be there with you in our Third Life, you'll have a lot of new friends to make. Save us a spot on the beach. :matte-motes-sunglasses-3: :matte-motes-sunglasses-3: :matte-motes-sunglasses-3: :matte-motes-sunglasses-3:
  22. It could be. If you don't have the RAM but that is doubtful since you are using Win 7 and it requires a lot of RAM. CPU is really the biggest resources you use and after that, its graphics card resources but since you can't log in, its probably not either of those. If it's loading a scene and then crashes, then you may have a graphics card issue. Nvidia's tend to freeze or go black where ATI cards tend to make your PC crash. Also look at updating your graphics driver just to be safe. If you where saving your chat logs, this does cause issues but they are normally removed when you remove all of the SL components. The new viewers break the chat logs down to each month so that you don't have that problem with any V3 viewer. Edit; another tip would be to look at your network connection. Try to reboot your modem and your router with your PC off them turn your PC back on and try.
  23. By reinstall, did you do an uninstall first? It sounds like a corrupted file and you may want to try to remove all Second Life applications (Phoenix, Firestorm, whatever) and then re-download a new copy. Then install the new one you downloaded. If that does not work, it could be related to the updates being launched today and you may have to wait a bit then try again.
  24. I know it sucks but it happens to merchants all around the world every day. In fact about 1.5% of all credit transactions are fraudulent. It is unfortunately one of the burdens we must bear. However, merchants in the real world have fraud prevention systems that block and blacklist transactions. And they always go after the person committing the fraud first. If Linden Labs does not have fraud prevention features then to me, they should be held liable but as we all know, its their world, their law, not ours. The truth is, the person who accepted the credit card in the real world is the one who is liable, not the downstream providers. That would be like WalMart not paying their suppliers when a fraudulent transaction appears. In the end you loose and unfortunately, much like piracy, it is the cost of doing business in the virtual world.
