  1. Sound like another fiasco in the works, if they do anything diferent at all, which i doubt.
  2. Well, I hated V2 when it came out, as I saw right away that many people would not be able to use it. I stuck with it tho, cause i knew that clinging to the v1.23 was wrong, and I wanted to help make v2 better. Many of the fixes have been great, and much appreciated. Here is the problem tho, and I saw this from the beginning. In v1.23, every1 had their own way of setting up their screen. Every person used a unique window configuration to suit whatever they loved to do. Event creators and hostesses needed a certain set of windows open, and builders had a set up that was unique to their uses. Today, this is still not possible. We have more windows than ever, and we still have that sidebar, which completely ruins any attempt at having a custom window configuration. In v1.23, I could be building, chatting, IMing, with my mini map, my stats window, and all my 6 huds on, and still be able to tell when some1 new walked up. In V2, It is a constant exercise of moving windows, and finding open areas to put a window. IMHO, it is 2 communication windows(chat, IM) and the fixed sidebar that causes all these problems. Sure, you can detach the sidebar, but it won't open that way. Plus even if you did go thru the extra clicks all the time, you'd be moving that mouse all over the screen constantly. The sidebar is a headache still and should open when I want it, where I want it. Ok, now that I've explained how I feel, I must state the reality of my situation. I can't log into V2, and have not been able to since last month, no matter what I do. A number of people I know are having the exact same issue and LL does not even seem to know that this issue exists. Any jiras on the issue are being blown off. So, I have to use Kirsten's S(20) build 40, or v1.23. Kinda hard to keep creating when I can't even use 1 viewer for everything, but jump from 1 to the only other 1 that works to finish a job. Sorry, but I have no hope at all that we will ever get our custom window configuration back, as LL does not see this as a problem. Now, with my current issues and not seeing LL able to recognize the current issue and blowing off jiras, I am quite disheartened. The good thing is, SL survives because of the people, not LL. Oh, and if you ask me, LL should hire the maker of Kirsten's viewer, pay him a buttload of money, and put him in complete control of the viewer. He makes a beautiful viewer and is usually 3 steps ahead of LL. Too bad he has to use LL's code base instead of him haveing control over it. Just my opinion tho.
  3. Jean Horten wrote: After wandering Mesh City on the beta grid for some hours, loking at all the stuff on display there , I wonder what's sooooo great about mesh? Imho Mesh is being widely overestimated. Jeannie Look at mesh in wire frame mode. A mesh will be a thousand times more efficient than any sculpty. Plus, you can combine UV maps to make efficient textures. Plus, we'll have custom faces. Plus, more detailed models. Plus, custom avatars whose whole body moves with the animation with only 1 attachment. Plus, it seems custom avatars fix height issues with animation. Plus, we'll have much more efficient use of prims. Plus, each mesh object can have accurate physics. The biggest reason all creators should consider learning how to make mesh, is that you will be making professional content that can be used in almost any game. Mesh is huge. Now if we could actually get it to the main grid, cause it does nothing at all for any of us to play with it on Aditi. If anything, Mesh City makes mesh look bad.
  4. Hey, that is better than not being able to log into Agni. I've not been able to use an official viewer in almost a month. It hangs up at loading clothing for like 5 min, then logs me out.
  5. I use a third party viewer because I can't log in with the official viewer. No other reason, and I'm not happy about it.
  6. The ratings with no comment are ratings gotten from the old Xstreet site. Making people leave a comment creates a situation where you will essentially get alot less ratings. On Xstreet, I got ratings daily, on a number of products. Now, it is rare, because they have to leave a comment. When I do get a rating now, it is a customer that had a delivery problem and they gave me a 1 because of it, even tho I resent the product. Be careful what you wish for. You can easily create a list of all the people that buy a certain product and then send out a survey to them. That will give you more feedback than some1 who is cranky, lol.
  7. Well, this is currently my 6th computer that has run SL, and I've never had to change the port, ever. I know that other people with the same problem have changed their ports, or always do, and it did not help them. Where is the download page for the snowstorm dev viewer, as there is no link in the official download page, nor the linking wiki page? Chances are it is the same code as Kirsten's latest tho, so I'm probably still screwed. Ok, I did a quick peak into the jira, and quickly found 6 different jira with very similar log in problems all starting shortly after 2.5 was released. VWR-24949VWR-24927SVC-6771SVC-6770VWR-24857VWR-24845I'm sure there are many more, but I don't have all day. Maybe, I'll try to link them in the jira, but I really have my own work to do. OMG, Lindens are resolving jiras that they don't have enough info on. How the heck can they track a problem like this if they close all the jiras they don't understand the day after they are created? This is why i don't ever go into the jiras, lol. WTF! Do they get a bonus for resolving issue, even if all they did was say contact support?
  8. Crossing my fingers, as I have not been able to use an official SL V2 viewer since 2.5 was released. I always hang at the clothing part for like 5 min, then I get the Darn, you have been logged out. Currently, I have to use Kirsten's S(20) build 40, or his does the same thing. Right now, I have about 30 different viewers in my download folder, from project viewers, to mesh, to beta, to development viewers. I can log into the beta grid with the mesh viewer, but besides that, not 1 of the others will log me into the main grid. But v1.23 works everytime, I've not used it really in almost a year tho. Right now, I have to use v1.23 as this is the only viewer I can use that will upload animations.:smileymad: Oh, and I'm not the only person I know having the exact same issue. LL needs to just keep calling all V2 viewers beta.

First thing you should do is detach all scripted objects, then goto Me/My Useful Features/Stop animating me, which is at the top left corner of Viewer 2.

Are you saying that no poseballs work? You can goto my store and try mine that are setting out to try.
  11. You can type "worn" into your inventory search and see everything you are wearing. V2 also has a section for outfits, which has a "worn" tab.

Are you wearing an Animation Overrider? Are you wearing the ball, instead of rezzing it and rightclick/sit? I think you need to give us a little more info. Traditionally, poseballs do not move. They are a stationary thing the you either click on or rightclick/sit on. I also use balls for a couples walk system, which allows 2 people to walk around, but that is not the same as a "poseball". Editted - Ok, I saw your other post, and this could be any number of issues, most of which, the creator of the poseball will understand your issue more than any1. You should contact them, or go to they main store where you might find some1 working there to help you.
  13. I don't have problems posting in explorer, but all the graphics are all misaligned.
  14. First, I must say, SL has 1 of the most amazing animation systems that has really ever been conceived of to date. That being said, it is all ruined by the neglect of fixing bugs. --------------------------------------------------- The Most Crucial bug https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-138 This bug is major. It essentially breaks the ability to hold anything in your hand and walk or run. The walks and run will completely override the hold animation. Walks and runs should work with priority 3 animations, and then the hold should be a 4, but currently, this does not work. Fix it, please. ------------------------------------------------ Longest running crucial bug https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3783 This bug has gone on for years and years and years, with LL refusing to fix it. This affects every looping animation and the manual fix is to actually add frames to an already perfect animation. It is appalling that this bug still exists. The affects of this bug are most noticeable when making a set of looping sit ground animations that you randomly change. ----------------------------------------------------- Most annoying animation bug https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1793 This is another bug that has gone on for a very long time, and I actually think it is 1 of the oldest animation bugs. It has to do with the hand animation, some how, switching to spread hands on animations set for relaxed or fists, at least that is my observation. ----------------------------------------------------- Maybe each individual 1 does not seem like a big deal, but each 1 adds annoyances to the customer and completely breaks immersion. Plus, it just looks bad for every1, from the animators to the users to machinima makers to Roleplaying sims, who are all trying to show how wonderful SL is. These are the major bugs to me, and if any1 has anymore related to animation, please post them in this thread. Maybe 1 will get fixed, some day.

Suella Ember wrote: I also hope (and suspect) that Lexie and co will be open to suggestions for other forum sections to go alongside the ones we have like 'Destinations', 'Your Avatar', 'Make Friends' etc. We should be able to cover the bulk of what was discussed in GD in those sections and hopefully keep things more focussed and flame resistant! The only things that aren't covered are the really off topic stuff that, if we are honest, is the stuff that used to cause so much flaming anyway! If you can think of some sections that may be missing I would definitely make a suggestion here or drop Lexie a line. No guarentees it would be accepted, but I'm sure she'd consider it. I disagree. No GD is an attempt at engineering away the so called bad stuff. This will lead to the "bad stuff" flowing into other categories. Besides, It is 1 thing to run a forum for some coding geeks to talk, but it is a whole other thing when you have a population of people that are as vast in interests as they are in looks. Having a GD is about community, and not having 1 says that you do not care about that at all.
  16. Pamela Galli wrote: Ahh that work. Yes when they disbanded the original LL forums, I know the RA and scripting ppl who had invested tons of time were devastated. But there is supposed to be some mechanism to make knowledge base docs out of posts or something with this software. Having the Knowledge Base here, I think, is the best part of this new system. Kinda reminds me of my early days when the knowledge base was our main source. I'm very happy to see it here in the set of options to browse thru.
  17. Without contacting the sellers, I doubt it. It is sad that you said that you could not find them. What self respecting merchant would disable the ability to find them in search? If you find them, send them a notecard with all the purchase info, then give them a few days to respond. I know it is really a sucky way to have to handle it all, but that is kinda the norm in SL, even tho, I always try to respond to customers within a couple hours.

Soooooo, I wonder where they are collecting these groups from. I also did not see any real hard core coders, that i know of. if you are talking about the one from yesterday, that was an open User Group that anyone could attend :-D So, not only are some open and some not, but some that are not also have open 1's. Sorry, but I'm a bit confused.
  19. In reguard to inworld search: Darrius Gothly wrote: Massively changed, back on Feb 15th. Yep! And this has to be the worst change yet. It is like LL is now fighting against their own algorithms, and we get to take the losses. Whatever! At least my classifieds can now be seen in something other than just Adult, as I don't really make adult items. Kinda funny that they bailed on that crappy Jive software before they actually corrected something that matters, and dropped the GSA.
  20. Pamela Galli wrote: I am almost afraid to ask but: what work did they wipe out this time? Well, it is all in there somewhere, but they are not in the forum categories. For instance, I've answered, literally, hundreds of things on the SL answers, Animation forum, and some on mesh. These can only be found in the archives now and are not in the actual forum categories anymore. They seems to have moved some, but very few. We are back to square 1 again.
  21. Well, I did a search on about 10 or so people that were not Lindens at the meeting and 3 of them had no products on the marketplace, and another 1 had 1 product. Soooooo, I wonder where they are collecting these groups from. I also did not see any real hard core coders, that i know of.
  22. Don't you love how a company can say 1 thing and do completely the opposite? Well, they are only hurting themselves. If I knew when mesh would be here, I would time our big release with the release of mesh and spend a bundle on advertising. As it is now, screw mesh, we have already created sculpty objects instead, and totally focused there, instead of waiting for something that seriously could go on forever. See, this is what frustrates me. LL thinks whatever they do is some kind of big deal, when in reality it means nothing at all. They can roll out mesh with huge fanfare, but they won't benefit at all if the merchants are blindsided and don't pick up the ball and run with it. Wake up LL!! You are not Ubisoft or Blizzard. It just does not work the same way.
  23. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/user/myprofilepage/tab/personal-profile Goto My Settings at the top of the page. Under Personal Profile/Personal information, you will see Signature, where you can add html. Similar to this: <a href="link to page"><img src="link to image"></a>
  24. Well, I'll state my opinions or what I know, but please don't take anything i say as fact. As far as I know, the new restrictions simply state that it is not implied that any1 can film everywhere. Each place has their own rules on how people are allowed to film on their parcels. When it comes to actual real laws, this can only really be determined in court. Any1 giving any1 else advice on fair use, is simply speculating. One could view the law in this way, if you are not making a commercially sellable machinima, advertising a product, in some way making money on the machinima, or not in some way lowering the value of the items in the machinima, then no rules actually apply. That does not mean the parcel owner won't boot you tho, or that you won't have to defend yourself in court.
  25. To create an interactive hug, kiss, slap, or whatever, you will need to use what is commonly called a hug script. This script is readily available at many freebie script places. The script, itself, will pull 2 people together into a common range to execute the animations. Hug type of animations should generally be uploaded as priority 4, and should be at least 5 seconds long, preferably longer. Most of the time, depending on who created the hug script, the animator will need to offset the animations for each avatar to be close enough to each other. The positioning of an avatar is controlled by the relationship of the Tframe and the positioning setting or hip translate, or body position. Sorry, but it seems almost every program names this part differently. For those starting out and for those more experienced, qavimator allows you to have 2 models in a scene to fine tune the interaction. Do remember, that every person in SL is a unique size and shape, so you will either have to create for the most common sizes, or make an animation for every size and shape of an avatar. I have also seen script that move the position of the avatars to fit better, but 1 of the 2 people will either be floating above the ground, or their feet in the ground. Take your pick, lol. Maybe mesh will make this better, but it will always kinda be an issue. Good luck!:smileyhappy:
