  2. integer thisIsFive = 2 + 3; Eh? ()
  3. No, there is still no way around it. Basically, for some odd reason, the rendering engine is incapable of properly deciding which face is in 'front' while blending two alpha layers. (._.) The closest thing we have for now is a new "automatic" alpha feature. If the client finds an alpha layer with little linearity (i.e. lots of 0x00 and 0xFF) it will toggle to 1-bit alpha. With 1-bit, there's no blending, so there's no confusion. What's in front is in front. Mind you, this setting has its own issues and can often ruin high detail alpha textures and lead to "blobby" end results. (>_<) It's not so much an SL quirk as it is an old OpenGL quirk and many a game designer of the past have found ways of simply avoiding stacking alpha textures to make this issue less apparent. There are rendering engines and possibly even versions of OpenGL which have solved it, but it's not what we have in SL right now. (._.)
  4. NCI offers skybox changing rooms in nearly every main location at Kuula, Hamnida, Fisherman's Cove, and NCI Dreamseeker. () As for myself, I never developed the habit of wearing clothes. It's a strange addiction and I figured the easiest way to quit was to never start. ()y
  5. You've already admitted to vanity. As I said; I've seen the lab do less for more. ()y
  6. Whilte not detrimental to me, my prior post includes a scenario where it can be extremely detrimental for someone dealing with genuine harassment. So, you want pretty names only. I understood that. At this point, it's your wants over other peoples' needs. Don't worry. I've seen the lab do less for more. ()y
  7. It appears to me as being very vain to put so much importance in seeing someone's name in your followers list. If the fact of someone existing is disruptive to you, I'd consider your priorities to be extremely questionable. () It looks to me like you've never looked into what it means to "Follow" someone's profile. I would rather have any troublemaker click a Follow button only to discover nothing because I can set my feed to friends only. Really... Un-follow is just begging to incite stalkers and drama. (=_=) Step 1) Un-follow a hater Step 2) Hater makes an alt and follows again Step 3) Un-follow the hater alt after finding out Step 4) Hater is driven to escelate and starts collecting bookmarks of anything you post online and attempts to research you on Google Honestly. You have not thought this out. Your vanity is getting the better of you. (=_=)
  8. That makes no sense at all. What function comes with following which would be disruptive in any way? Followers don't get special permissions over any other non-friended public account. Honestly, a un-follow feature is totally counterintuitive since it's easier than easy to just create a browser bookmark to anyone's profile. () If you want to block people from seeing your public information; make it non-public. There are already settings for that. What, exactly, does un-follow accomplish? ()
  9. Your feed is http://my.secondlife.com/maia007 my feed is http://my.scondlife.com/imnotgoing.sideways Looking at that Jira, it pretty much has nothing to do with the follow button at all. It's more connected to the open access which is available in your feed. You can close that. Make your feed available to friends only. Without seeing your posts, people will have nothing to respond to. Mission accomplished. () For example; I'm not following you. Take a peek at your feed. =^-^=
  10. I like it. Basically, when I update my profile feed, people would have had to been on my friends list to see the updates. So, even for my most public messages, they'd have to be practically considered a private contact. (>_<) But, with follow, they can just see what I've put on my feed. It's not like we have any running dialogue. We're not sharing online-offline information or getting special permissions over each other. Heck, if I were to never update my profile feed, anyone who follows me would get nothing at all out of it. =^-^= Honestly, why this hasn't replaced store update groups already is beyond me. This is like the dark ages of SL. We're getting some of the most useful and lag preventing solutions ever and so many people are rejecting them simply out of a refusal of learning what they actually are. () Dare anyone find anything positive about these new features and they get condemed like Galileo was when calling the world round. (=_=) Here's an idea: Instead of freaking out and thinking the world is out to get you and all new technological advances will destroy your life... Try learning about them and finding that they were implemented by someone who believed they'd be to your benefit. They sure as heck benefit me. I've never had a more simple way of sharing pictures I take in SL. I get a broader audience and people enjoy seeing this virtual world through my eyes. () WHY would you want to kill that? (T_T)
  11. http://my.secondlife.com/naturelle.starbrook Be sure to look at your privacy settings to be sure it's displaying what you want. ()y
  12. I prefer web profiles. I like the feed. And web search actually makes sense to me. You may convince LL to change things back but you won't convince me that the old ways have any aspects which I'd prefer over the current system. (=_=) Really, does advancing technology have to pause until ~YOU~ grow bored of the old methods ~YOU~ have latched on to? (=_=) Go ahead and try. But don't expect those of us who prefer and utilize the updates to follow you. ()y
  13. **First of all: Wicked name! Gotta love it. =^-^= I found the code sample in the wiki http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetNumberOfNotecardLines is a very well done script for populating a list from a notecard. Just run the rest of your code in state ready{} and you're good to go. ()y
  14. Randall Ahren wrote: If you're looking for men friends, most women with an attractive avatar go someplace where there are men, try to look as cool as possible, and wait for the guys to come on to them. I've never had to wait. Quick reflexes are often necessary. ()
  15. Avatar eyes are unstoppable. (._.) Though, since you're wearing prim eyes, you can change the attachment point and re-adjust them back to center. Ear or nose would work well. Only thing is that you'll have this 'dead/doll' look with such stationary eyes. (>_<)
  16. A certain land baron once referred to me as "Odious little volunteer". () This self contradictory statement, while intended to be malicious, still gave me a smile. Because, inspite of the adversarial stance this person was taking, they still had it in their mind to refer to me as a volunteer. ()
  17. I'll have to test this. I made a stair project which had 4 objects linked create a LI of 2. Sounds like a fun challenge, finding how low mesh can go. =^-^=
  18. Cinnamon said it best. Unless you get an Email from Linden Lab claiming a violation of the TOS/CS, Than whoever reported you was simply being a jerk. () As for avatar height in SL; There are two ways to look at it. Rule of thumb or ruler. I personally choose ruler. My avatar height is 5'0" prim-height. NOT that agent(eye)height that scripts give out for no good reason. I think those scripts put me at 4'8" or something. But, when I'm building by the numbers, taller AVs can't walk through my doors. Your world. Your imagination. If someone wants to be 8 feet tall, COOL! Be 8 feet tall. Don't lie, say you're 6 feet tall, and accuse shorter people of being children. Those of us who prefer having a sense of scale do things differently. Plus, there's a fringe benefit that smaller houses take up less space and leave more room for other cool things. =^-^=
  19. The TOS has always been there from the beginning. People who have been in SL for "years", myself included, have been subject to the TOS for as long as the grid has been active. The key reason it's growing is because SL residents keep finding ways to put Linden Lab in legal and financial risk. () You have no more rights to violate SL's TOS than my next door neighbor does tromping in my house and licking all the food in my fridge. Thier hardware, their invention, their infrastructure, their business. We are guests, welcome and/or not. No rights at all. ()y
  20. Mircea Lobo wrote: First of all, a few more words to miss ImNotGoing. So to you, users have no rights in SL because Linden started the projects and owns the servers. In that case, I suggest the admins add your account to a "personal discretion" database. Where they can ban you, remove your in-world works, etc. based on how they're feeling in the morning, without giving a damn about you. Also, people created original content in SL, which belongs to them. And forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't some of the users contribute to the viewer's development since it went open-source? Not to mention those who have friends here, and for whom SL is part of their everyday lives, which was a right given to them by LL. Yet to you, all of them have no rights and no say on what's happening? I think I'm done with this debate. As for realXtend, they are not ok with theft. You assume that because for some users, having an extreme attitude against any new feature is the only way of preventing theft. As for me staying here, don't worry... I wanted to move to OpenSim for years, specifically to run away from the bull**bleep** on this grid. I haven't because there aren't enough users, but maybe someday that will change. Till then, you'll have to bare with me OpenSim also offers mesh support for free (as in freedom), making them another evil pro-piracy group automatically. Anyway, I can understand LL's concern with such laws and their importance. I just dislike their approach, as well as failing to understand how meshes are worse when most "copyright infringement" is done with music and 2D art. Every form of infringement mentioned here (such as ripping stuff from games) can easily be done with textures and sounds. Putting such restrictions on meshes just because they're a new feature only aggravates some users, and will not prevent anything. Maybe I'm the only one here. But my wish is to see SL being a free and well-implement virtual worlds system, where the focus is on getting things working for everyone instead of implementing pointless restrictions. At least that's how I was "grown and educated" in the open-source environments. Last night, instead of testing and enjoying a wonderful new feature, I had my nose rubbed into stories about how Lady Gaga cums if you model her in 3D, Coca Cola pisses if you put their logo on a prim, and The Beavers **bleep** if you scrape their team name on the terrain. Maybe I'm weird to the normality of this forum, but that is plainly stupid. Also, I am lucky that I have payment info on file, since I made a bank account a few years ago to use it with paypal (independently SL). If I wouldn't have done that, I would be unable to enjoy this feature and use all means of building in-world. Basically, I'd have to make prim objects while others around me could use meshs, just because they have an internet compatible debit card. Is this right to you guys? Actually, according to the TOS, the users have no rights. It's not up to me. Read the thing. You agreed to it the first time you logged in to the grid. () I'm not likely to be banned any time soon. Given, I don't violate the TOS. =^-^= As for people who have contributed to the viewer's devlopment. Well, I'm one of them. Open Help >> About Second Life. For clients that still have the contributing residents list, you'll find me in there. () I don't beleive that LL is trying to prevent anything. What they're doing is legal indemnification. We're putting data on their servers that they bought and pay the electric bill for... along with maintenance overhead and many other expenses while still trying to cut a profit so they can feed their families. If/when EA finds one of their game meshes in SL, they're turn to the lab... Legally. The lab is going to need to have a way to divert that to the uploader who stole the content in the first place. () That "Mesh quiz"... It's a contract. Having payment information... That's a record which can be used to prevent a banned thief from coming back and stealing all over again any time soon. The 'restrictions' that seem pointless to you make perfect sense to me and anyone else with a basic understanding of copyright law and liability statutes. ()y
  21. So, realXtend is okay with stealing and Linden Lab is not. You want to be left alone while you use a tool which has a history for theft. Kitchen knives have been used for murder. But, I have one in my kitchen. Would it be reasonbale to carry it with me to the mall? () It's funny to watch you act like you're entitled to something on someone else's globally accessible server cluster. Nobody owes you a thing. Sounds like you'd enjoy realXtend though. Why not just stay there? ()y
