  1. Did you get a blue screen with this error? Are you running maybe Windows XP on an older PC? I would do frequent back ups of data on this PC. This might be caused by a virus or a hardware problem (error in memory, bad sector on hard drive malfunctioning CPU.) Run a full scan of your PC for viruses and check your events in the Windows OS for hardware issues. I think you need a second opinion, however and I recommend you get it from here: http://forums.cnet.com/?tag=mncol;pm In the end, at the least, you might want to reinstall the OS. Backup your data before reinstalling the OS. I'm going to use a disclaimer with this post/article. Disclaimer: I have made suggestions to you that may or may not be representative of your problem. Computer technologies are complex and so are system configurations. Suggestions for seemingly obvious problems may not create effective solutions. If you follow these suggestion you do so at your sole discretion and risk. It has been my intention to be helpful. I do not claim to be a (the) authority regarding these issues. Disclaimers, are also provide from this web site regarding its use.
  2. Wait, it might fix itself. Wait 24 hours (possible server/SL problem).
  3. Does the land your on allow rezzing? If so, contact the owner of the land, there might be a problem on the SIM. If this fails try rezzing on a public sandbox. If you have a problems on the sandbox come back here for assistance
  4. Try another giver script, they are are not hard to find.
  5. I need some full permissions controls panel, instrument panel textures for space ships, cars, planes and the like. IM in world if you have them or just send them along if they are freebies. I'm also interested in GIF textures and scripts for control panels, again they would need to be full permissions. Thank you in advance if you can be of assistance. Faubio Alter
  6. Most guns work in mouselook.
  7. Try these: Wait, sometimes the servers have problems, only wait a few hours at most. Retype your user name (both of them) and password in the boxes provided on the logon screen. Check the Second Life grid status for logon problems. http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ Try logging on at http://slurl.com/ On login screen take this path. In top left hand corner of screen, click, me > preferences > in the general tab, click the box next to start location, choose "show start location on login screen" then close the viewer and relog on. Now you have something new on your login screen. Click the down arrow and choose "home", or "last location" or type "Violet" (Any region you can remember will do, if you remember the regions name spelling exactly) in the "type region name" selection. Try all three if you need to. For wired connections for modems only: Disconnect all wires concerning your connection, wait 30 seconds then plug them back in again, including the modem and transformer. Wires should snugly fit into ports. These instructions do not apply to routers. For wireless connections and routers: Reset your system clock. See "help and support" in Windows for directions. Your firewall should be set to "outbound access only" for the Second Life program. Try another viewer http://modularsystems.sl/
  8. I would look for a collision start script that is consuming huge amounts of resources. Right click land, choose "about land" in this area for a list of scripts running there, Remove them one at a time till you find the trouble maker. Block that item form the SIM, it might be an abuse report candidate as well. This smacks of a griever item. Use auto return if you must. If it's not a script .......... servers run the entire SIM, not just part of it. If it run at all it runs on a server. I'd ask for a SIM restart if this fails ask to move the SIM to another server location. SL has numerous server of several types and I suspect with various software versions running on them all or none of them could be the problem or create a situation that is causing the problem. Solutions can be complicated sometimes and solution need to be achieved through process and error.
  9. Remove all scripted object from your AV and try again. To check if they have been removed, go to some land right click it, choose about land, click the scripts button then the avatar tab this with will show what your wearing. To remove invisible objects press Ctrl+Alt+t (lower case) all at once. You can see them now. Do the reverse when done to remove the red effect.
  10. You can simply count them but you will need to rightclcik/edit them to see if they are made from more then one prim each.
  11. Try reducing your graphic settings. From mid to low maybe. The defaults are in my opinion are set to high. I always set them back and also use an older card.
  12. What exactly does "will not open" mean? Does this mean the software fails to load on your computer or you can not log on to SL or some other problem? (More information is needed.)
  13. I think I understand the problem. This appears to happen on round or curved objects. I'd report this one in a JIRA. The cam seems overly sensitive in the last few viewer releases requiring an SL fix. https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa?
  14. Check for a newer mouse driver. Allow automatic updates from your OS provider.
  15. If you get too close to things with the camera restrains off they will disappear. Ask your friend if they did something to the camera. If he can't remember reinstall the viewer so you can start from the beginning again with the default settings.
  16. This is a connection issue, most likely. In this order, checking after each step to see if you have connectivity with SL Try logging in somewhere here, anywhere will do. http://slurl.com/ Your firewall should be set for "out bound only" for SL. Disconnect all your wires to your router/modem let it stand unplugged for a minute then plug things back in again. Make sure you wait. Reset your system clock. See "help and support" in Window 7 for system clock resetting. Try to log in and use the network trouble shooter while you do. Again see 'help and support" in Window 7 if you haven't used it before. You may wish to contact your ISP about it.
  17. In this order, try: Wait, sometimes the servers have problems, only wait a few hours at most. Retype your user name (both of them) and password in the boxes provided on the logon screen. 18. That was Adobe flash, right? Not the reader. Does adobe work in Macs? You may need to reload the viewer it might be corrupted. Try another viewer maybe phoenix. See if it has trouble there as well before reinstalling the viewer.
  19. Go to your friends profile push the down arrow there on the right near the top then click "permissions". A new window will appear it's in there then click it.
  20. The new viewer is much faster then any view 1 clone. Lets see will old objects rez? Hmmm. Do you think SL will make us all start over? LOL My guess is...... No, but you never know. I'm not sure about sculpties they may be effected but I'm just guess. You'll need to ask SL or someone who has been working with it on the mesh grid.
  21. Is your inventory loading? Click the "recent" tab in inventory, numbers will appear at the top in green they should move upward (1, 2, 3, 4, 5,etc..) till they stop. Some times moving from the inventory tab to the recent tab will make it load faster. Try resetting the filters. Your inventory might be there but not showing. These can be found in the + sign or gear in the bottom left hand side of the recent tab.
  22. Buy the group. Perhaps greasing his palm will help. My suggestion would be dissolve any group you wish to get rid of, do not transfer it to others or share an owners interest in any group, just my opinion of course.
  23. Check for a new driver for your sound chip (most likely a chip). Are your wires snuggly in there ports?
  24. If it's running at 100% all the time and you find a service doing this in a windows OS's by using Task Manager then you will need to reinstall the OS. You might wish to speak to these people before doing that: http://forums.cnet.com/?tag=mncol;pm
