  1. I know my neighbourhood very well, I should because I build it But yes, we have a very strong community, especially those living on the poor side of town interact with each other on a daily bases, they have to. There is no avoiding each other, thin walled tiny apartments right on top of each other, pretty much destroys privacy. We have lots of events and many people who pretty much spend 90% of their SL time here. We are such a tight community that people actually behave because they are worried what their neighbours might say. Pretty realistic, as we like it
  2. Being working class I can't afford myself some fancy car most of the time, so I get around on this lovely safety bicycle, model 1885.
  3. You are warmly invited to this event in Berlin: PAST FUTURE Courses of the Art Deco style photos by Melusina Parkin Berlin - Schloss Museum Kaiser Wilhelm Strasse 1 Opening: Saturday, July 16th, 12pm slt Take the train from Teleportplatz to Alexanderplatz Banhof, then turn right and right again to the Unter den Linden; you'll find the Museum at your left. Please, remember that we are a 1920s Historical roleplaying sim and thus request you to wear 1920s clothing and have realistic avatars.
  4. It will be a normal day, so mostly people going around their business, having Coffee on Unter den Linden, flying in the Zeppelin, visiting the cinema, etc. But at 2 pm we have our daily Happy Hour, that is when people gather at Der Keller Tanzlokal (bar) for a chat, drink and dance. After that is over I have something fun planned, bit weird and very unrealistic
  5. Our city is 2 years old! We will be celebrating our anniversary on monday the 18th of july. From Noon onwards we will be celebrating our anniversary 1920s style. Dancing, music, freebies, etc. 1920s dresscode.
  6. On the 17th of july we are organising a so called 'Relaxed Rules Day'. As you may know, Berlin has a dress code, we ask visitors to look realistic and authentic for the theme of our sim. But a few days in the year we decide to relax these rules to give new people a chance to explore our sim even if they don't feel like dressing up or changing their avatar. On Relaxed Rules Day we will NOT be asking people to dress in the 1920s style and we will be welcoming unrealistic looking avatars such as furries, tinies, etc. The only rules we will be enforcing are that we will not accept public nudity or Nazi related behaviour and dress. Of course anyone bothering or harassing people will also be send home. This may be a good day to show Berlin to your friends who have not been here before and may feel a bit intimidated by our rules or roleplay. For our tenants this is also a special day. It can be a lot of fun to 'let your hair down' in this city and go a bit crazy. We will allow flying on this day so you can see the city from a whole new angle, but you are will also not be locked up for doing things that are unrealistic or unauthentic. As soon as Happy Hour is over we have a litte surprise in store and something very weird will happen in the city... See you on the 17th... the day before our 2nd anniversary!!
  7. Generally we tell people why they are banned but sometimes we have more important things to do. Especially if I get a complaint about someone, I don't always want to spend time looking their profile up and sending them a message explaining why they were banned. If people are banned they can always contact us and ask why later.
  8. The Medieval era lasted over 1000 years with different styles in every region that changed every couple of decades. So what kind of Medieval clothes do you mean? Wizard clothes? What did wizards look like? I think what you are looking is Fantasy themed clothes, not strictly Medieval. I haven't seen many realistic Medieval sims or clothes in SL.
  9. They never should have gotten rid of the old naming system. I love display names, but so hate the new avatar names.
  10. Mind you, normally the kitten is rather sweet...
  11. A few days ago I made a photo to show the difficult circumstances I have to endure while being in SL. My friend turned it into this picture; Hide! Run away!
  12. You can always shoe shine at the station in our sim or deliver shopping. It will take you some time to get rich but the people in our 1920s Berlin sim are generous. Once you've made enough to buy a 1920s taxi you can become a taxi driver, drive people around Berlin and you may eventually get the money you need. Yes it will take time and hard work, but that is generally how it (should) work. From newspaper boy to millionaire!
  13. That is horrible, sorry to hear that. It is one of the reasons I bought mainland and eventually my own region, you're so in the dark if anything goes wrong and you don't own the land. One sim I had was sold by its owners and I had a day to pack up an entire city. Once my own region wouldn't come back online again after a restart, I too got live chat and asked them to do a restart, two told me they couldn't do that and I'd have to file a ticket... but the last time I filed a ticket I had to wait over half a year before I got a reply. So I kept starting new live chats and eventually got one chap who told me it was no problem, he restarted the region and within minutes all was back to normal again.
  14. Mute him. And if that doesnt help, get the phoenix viewer and activate the spam settings.
  15. Some roleplay sims have very strong communities. In 1920s Berlin we have such a community, over 60 tenants living in one single region, some have been living with us for over 2 years, people know each other, are worried when someone has been offline for a while, there is gossip, complaints about playing records late at night, etc. And many of these people actually meet each other at the shops or our daily happy hour in the club. Find a roleplay sim you like and you may get the community as a bonus.
  16. I love my dixi car but living in a big city sometimes the traffic just gets too much; So that is when I take another one of my favourite vehicles is the train, here we are about to depart from Alexanderplatz station, third class ticket of course...
  17. The dance is called the Charleston (big hit in the 1920s) and it was made by Nomasha Syaka, bought at the Ministry of Motion
  18. I like avatars that look unusual. I don't even blink when yet another model walks by in a super mini skirt, huge boobs, etc. But when I see someone walk by who looks like a RL person, who is old, fat, short, perhaps a bit "ugly", I'm intriqued. Everyone wants to be prettier, richer and more 'interesting' then they are in RL, so when someone doesn't, I want to know why and they get my attention. Same goes for extreme avatars, i've seen lego figures, moles, giants, avatars smaller then my foot, people in fantastic 15th century body armor, I've seen 1 dimensional paperdolls cut out of newspaper, etc, etc, etc. Brilliant.
  19. I fear you have to save your snapshot to your computer first and convert it there. To save a picture open the snapshot in your inventory and click 'file' at the top of your screen and then 'save texture as', you can choose PNG or TGA. Then you need software to save it as JPG or whatever you like.
  20. The best way is to just go for it, play, experiment, the basics are not as complicated as they seem at first. Use the SL wikipedia. And use the forum like you do now, ask, ask, ask! Plenty of people here willing to help. What do you want to know, what is your main problem?
  21. Haven't done much testing yet, but krikey, that doesn't look good!
  22. I am SO going to ban every single one of you! Ignoring the rules in 1920s Berlin, the shock, the horror! Hehehehe, glad it all turned out well, no worries. All we care about is keeping our tenants and visitors happy so if nobody was around, its fine. Especially for such a nice story. Could you just change the slurl in your credits to http://slurl.com/secondlife/1920s Berlin/235/232/751 ? If you ever need Berlin again and want to do something totally against our rules and you want lots of 1920s people around, give me a call. We have strict rules on everything but are always willing to make exceptions.
  23. The wife is in hospital with a neurological illness, in a coma I reckon. And they use virtual worlds to try and activate some of ehr memories, get her to wake up. OR she is just a vegetable and the husband uses the virtual world to find a way to see her again. Interestingly enough she is not allowed to see him, there are no other people either. But it has something to do with memories.
  24. Your wish, my command; http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/World-Builder-What-Second-Life-one-day-may-be-handkerchiefs/td-p/954949
