Whats your favorite sky setting?
Shiva Draconia replied to Marijuana Luv's topic in General Discussion Forum
I've been using.. Bree's Appleblossom, I think it's called, for years. -
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dahana/208/100/62 The sim has a road going through it, and some water on the opposite side to the parcel. It's relatively flat. And it is decently low lag. First time selling land. Just take the link above, and buy the land if you're interested. Thanks Enjoy!

Female avis are getting smaller and smaller? 0.0
Shiva Draconia replied to Nightingalia's topic in General Discussion Forum
Just a heads up, 1.57 is more than 5 ft 1in. In rl I'm 1.50m and 4ft 11.5/5ft. 1.57 would be closer to 5ft 3in. Don't sell yourself short OP! -
Log in help needed - TOC acceptance issue.

Did more digging around. I found someone else that had the same issue eventually, and it seems they were told to use the Radegast viewer. Tried that and it worked. Huzzah Who knows, maybe this can be of use to someone. -

FYI: I posted this in General not too long ago, but um... there's a torrent of spam drowning me -_-. This might not be the right section, though. If not.. sorry :/ Hi all Today is the first day since last weekend that I've had the chance to log in. As a result, I wasn't aware of the TOS changes until I went to go inworld. My issue now, is that I'm not able to accept the TOS. By this, I mean that they never show up for me. I've been sitting here for about an hour now, trying several times to get them to load (unless it's routinely taking longer than 20 mins - my longest wait so far), but to no avail. I've tried both Firestorm, and the official viewer. I've tried clearing my cache.. If anyone knows of something that could help, I'd really appreciate it. I was really hoping to get inworld and hang out for a while. Thanks for any help **Only uploaded images may be used in postings**://secondlife.i.lithium.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif" border="0" alt=":smileyhappy:" title="Smiley Happy" /> Shiva

Why do items come in boxes when they don't need to?
Shiva Draconia replied to Sara Nova's topic in Merchants
I haven't finished the thread yet, but thought I'd give my 5Ls.. I'm a customer, moreso than a merchant. I have a couple of things on sale, but eh.. nothing fully fledged. My preference is boxes, or maybe... a box and a picture as a folder. My inventory is out of control. I have over 26k items, and most are boxed .. When I'm sorting, I like to be able to pull out a box, look at the picture, and then move it, without having to rezz the whole folder to remember how something looks. In fact, today, I went and boxed about 400 plants into maybe 10 boxes, just to tidy things up a little. So, yeah, I'm a customer that likes boxes.. (though sending as a folder with a box and a picture would be awesome for times when you want to see what's in it, without rezzing) -
Where are you from? Ireland (Cork) When did you join SL originally? Initially tried joining SL around December 2007 when my dad asked me to give it a try (the university he works at were looking into it as a possibly virtual classroom platform). Gave up after half an hour cause my laptop at the time couldn't handle it (didn't realise straight off that that was the problem, and declared SL to be rubbish). Christmas 2008 my Dad brought the subject up again, and asked if I'd tried it again since. Eventually broke down and created this Avi on Jan 9th 2009 What have you mainly spent your time doing in SL in the past? RP, shopping, messing with building, hanging out, shopping... How are you planning to spend your time in SL in 2013? Shop and messing with building. I want to start selling stuff.. but I get distracted easily. Also, want to get my inventory sorted and pared down a bit.

Annoying phrases?
Shiva Draconia replied to MuffinUnsane1488303563's topic in General Discussion Forum
If I don't know a person, and they call me something like "love" or "hun" and I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing, or them being condescending, that can get to me. If I understand it to just be something they say, then I'm fine with it. The whole "boi" thing on male subs confused me at the start in SL.. Where I'm from, that's just the phonetic spelling of how we greet guys where I'm from. It's an every so slightly different pronounciation from "boy". If it's being elongated, the spelling (for those that bother writing in their accent, which admittedly I will sometimes do) changes to "bai". Again, this is a cultural thing. I'm unusual because I *don't* generally call males "boi" (or females "girl" or "gurl"). It's not considered condescending or belittling, it's just part of our culture and accent to address people that way. -
SL expands to STEAM and improves graphics
Shiva Draconia replied to Jo Yardley's topic in General Discussion Forum
I just want to point out that possibly, a lot of gamers, with very up to date systems, may have issues trying to get SL to run on ultra graphics. I'm on a laptop. It's less than a year old. It has two graphics cards - one is an intel chip, the other a decent nvidia. I can play Witcher 2 on this machine with no issues (check the specs... not exactly low end). SL on the other hand? I can just about get 10FPS on low graphics. The graphics card isn't exactly high end anymore, but it supports 3d graphics (if only I had the glasses), so it's not exactly the worst either. This is a coding issue with SL. On a day to day basis, it refuses to see the dedicated graphics card. The only way to get it to see the nvidia card, it to hook it up to a HDTV. This is all well and good, except the text gets very hard to read. Your point about keeping a machine up to par is very much valid. BUT... spare a thought for those of us that DO keep a decent machine, but are screwed over by bad programming code. The dual graphics card thing is technology that's been around a few years - Optimus technology. Gaming and other graphic intensive programs are meant to tell the dedicated card to kick in as they start up..SL doesn't. So, on a day to day basis, I'm stuck on low end graphics, when my previous laptop played ultra no issue. Hooking up to the TV is a hassle, if I'm only gonna be inworld for half an hour, ya'know! Sorry for the rant, but I've had people telling me I should update my laptop if it's so rubbish...Though, the way things are going with it breaking down, that could happen in the next year -_-' (Two repairs before it's even a year old.. thanks for a solid machine, Dell ) This is more an attempt to educate on an issue that a lot of people aren't aware of, including a lot of gamers. -
I too have noticed a major increase in lag... only since last weekend, though. My fps are now lucky to get to 1/3 of what they used to be

I don't like facelights. I gave them up about 6-8 months after I joined SL.. well, tried to. My favourite hair at the time had them built in >< Thankfully, fairly tastefully. Now, I don't wear any. I use my windlight settings to make the world, and myself, look good to ME! That's all I care about: how things look to ME! Before I found the option to turn off facelights, people that wore the super bright ones really bugged me... to I don't think I ever said it to them. Now... I just have lights set to sun/moon only. One thing I do hate, however... is facelight users complaining that I don't wear one. I've had this from time to time. I get told I should wear one, because it'll make me look better (to them....). I always decline, and say that I use windlight settings, to make SLife look how I want it to, and I'm happy with that. I don't think I even have a facelight in my inventory anymore.

"Mr.Trololo" passed away. :(
Shiva Draconia replied to LuccaRiley's topic in General Discussion Forum
Who is this guy? I genuinely don't get it. I've never heard of him, or this song. Even listening to the video or looking him up on wikipedia. The song is nonsense, and he is someone I've never ever heard of . It's a sad thing when anyone whatsoever dies. My point is... I've no idea why people keep going on about this guy dying. Was he famous or something? *scratches head looking lost and bewildered* -

Amethyst You say SL isn't compatible with a wireless connection, yes? Have you anything to verify this? I'm asking, simply because well.. I'm on a wireless connection pretty much all the time I'm in SL. The only way it *wouldn't* be compatible, from what I can see, is if it has a really small D/L limit, or really really REALLY low speeds. Other than that, it is possible to use a wireless connection with SL -
Have to say, I've been watching the whole MP drama with interest (as I've just started selling myself, on there). Oddly, and somewhat pleasantly, I found myself to be immune, both in terms of a seller (only at it about a week so yeah...we'll ignore this part) and as a buyer (I've NEVER had a product not deliver. Then yesterday... I was sending a 1L item to my alt and BAM! it failed. First time this has ever happened to me. So much for immunity. In saying that, I'm just glad I do follow these forums... I probably would have freaked, otherwise. As it was, I just shrugged and moved on. I'll try for it again another day, I guess
-
This happened to me just yesterday. Though, for me, I saw a friend looking like that, but everything around us was fine, and noone else had a problem with how she looked . Also, I saw her as wearing something she didn't even own... which neither of us can explain. If none of the other solutions work, try having your friend update their graphics drivers. That's what I did. After that, perfect (You say others see you like that.. possibly their drivers are out of date, if it comes down to that working for your friend.)

Here's an interesting question: Do you have Optimus Technology in your computer? If you do... sorry to say that SL most likely isn't seeing your Nvidia card. I found this out the hard way. On my computer I've a very good Nvidia card, and a crummy Intel chip. It's relatively new technology (less than 2 years old, afaik) so SL isn't coded to recognise that you've two chips. No matter what viewer I'm on, I only get low graphics as I can only use the Intel chip. As someone else said, corrupted cache is a possibility, especially if you've tried more than one viewer without doing clean installs. Also, your computer can run that Crysis game? Great.. That doesn't mean it'll run everything at top notch specs. I've a good laptop. It plays a lot of things really well, but no way is it going to play everything perfectly..nor should it be expected to. If you want someone to try and figure out if it IS your computer, why not toss up the very top part of your dxdiag file? And one last thing.. have you made sure your graphics drivers are up to date? I know quite a bit about computers, been using them since I was old enough to push a button... and yet, it still took me a full day to cop on to the fact that a graphics driver update was the reason a game wasn't working for me, even though everything else was fine. Sometimes, what ends up being an obvious solution is one you end up unintentionally overlooking *shrugs*

Heya, I'm Irish too, and use a prepaid card. What one are you using? O2, or 3V? (They're the only ones I know are available here). My advice, and this is what I do myself, is to set up a paypal account, and connect the card into that, then set up paypal as your billing method..it incurs an extra charge, but it also means you can connect your prepaid card to SL (albeit in a convoluted manner).

Hello all, I'm pleased to announce that DreVaHa Village, on the DreVaHa Dreams region, is officially open for renters. Whilst we're mainly looking to provide an inworld space to people that don't have that yet, if you are established and want a space, we won't necessarily count you out. Pricing is a little different to normal, I think, but it's designed to help people starting out. 25L a week, and then a split profit script set to 20% OR 1L a week, and the split profit script set to 30%. Split profit vendors are included in the rental. There are 12 stores with 100 prims allotted, and 5 with 50 prims, though that is expandible to 100 if needed. If a store starts generating a substantial amount of income, then we will be happy to renegotiate on the rental. We want you to be happy in our little village, after all :catwink: Full information can be found in a notecard at the landing point to the village. It's much too long to post here! The sim is quite new in being set up, but there are houses to rent also, so store owners may find shoppers living nearby. Each store will have a parcel big enough to show in search, plus the common landing point will be shown in search also. There is already a classified advert made for the landing point, encompassing the whole village. For more information, contact me inworld - Shiva Draconia (Display name: Mirabelle Stonegate). I know someone with 16GB of ram. To the OP: Regardless of what you're doing on a computer, more RAM is preferable, as it helps boost processing power. My laptop has 4GB of RAM. Because of the way my laptop is built, with both a crummy Intel chip, and a decent Nvidia chip, SL only sees the Intel chip, even though other programs see the Nvidia if it's needed. The extra RAM is what allows me to use SL with the lower end chip, as it helps boost it's capabilities. In saying that, any time I connect my laptop to my TV, SL then registers the Nvidia chip. Really odd, and I've no way of changing this behaviour to cover me when I'm not connected to the TV. But yes, 4GB of RAM is plenty, even if the graphics chip isn't the best, as it'll generally allow you to play on low settings at least.

Lucky chairs? Are you for or agaisnt?
Shiva Draconia replied to Voodoo Schnyder's topic in Merchants
I'm an avid freebie hunter, I'll admit that. I enjoy slapping MM boards. Lucky chairs are great, if I'm around and my letter comes up. Other than that... I've a short attention span, unless I'm doing other things and just checking back now and again. In saying that, I will spend money in SL, when it's possible for me to do so. I look at things like the lucky chairs as being a way for me to judge whether or not I like what a store makes. Same with freebies. If I like, then chances are I'll either go back and buy if I think of it, when I have money in SL... or I'll recommend the place to others looking to buy. There has been more than one occasion where this has happened, purely because I got something free, one way or another.
