  1. That's interesting..... Linden Home parcels are different from most parcels, because you cannot resell them or deed them to a group. In that sense, they are more like a rental from Governor Linden (the uber-Landowner from whom all land is ultimately purchased) than like an ownership. However, your name should still show as "Owner" in World >> About Land >> General. Check with Live Chat to find out why yours doesn't, especially if you don't seem to have all of your normal rights as a landowner (rezzing, setting the media stream, setting access permissions....). P.S. Also double check first to be sure that you are standing in the right house. They all look alike, so you wouldn't be the first Linden Home resident to wander into the house next door by mistake. :smileysurprised::smileyembarrassed:
  2. That exception code (0xc0000005) that you are indicating --- thank you for posting the details! --- has been showing up a lot recently. I filed a JIRA a couple of days ago to alert the LL developers and we got lucky yesterday afternoon. It looks like a virus has zapped your computer. Check out Aiko Gaea's post near the bottom of the comments in https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-29307?focusedCommentId=335675 to see how to get rid of the virus and clear the problem. It's a bit involved, but several people have tried it now, and it appears to work. Good luck.
  3. Nice work. For completeness, don't forget Hawaiian Standard Time (HST) and Alaskan Standard Time (AKST) too. :smileywink:
  4. Check on the Object tab in your Edit tool to be sure that the object is not locked. If the seller accidentally checked that box, you won't be able to move it at all, but you should be able to uncheck it easily enough.
  5. Here's a handy Torley video that explains what yiou can and can't do with Display Names, including toggling >>> BTW, I like Charolotte's excellent suggestion of using a titler instead of a Display Name. That's how we always did it in Pre-Display Name days. If you are worried about carrying an extra script around in your RP sim, do this ... 1. Rez a prim 2. Add this script to it ... default{ state_entry() { llSetText("Your Display Name Goes Here", <1.0,1.0,1.0>,1.0); // Put your name in the quotes llRemoveInventory(llGetScriptName()); //This line deletes this script }} Once a hover text is set, it doesn't need a script to maintain it, so this script deletes itself when its job is done. 3. Make the prim 100% transparent and attach it to your head 4. When you don't want the title any more, just detach it and save it for the next time.
  6. Go back into the NVidia Control Panel and try enabling Triple Buffering as well as VSync. See if that helps smooth your performance. BTW, I am not running with a GPU that is anywhere near as sophisticated as yours, but mine runs consistently at a little below 40 degrees C. I'd consider 70 degrees to be more than "warm". I hope you have good ventilation and a monster heat sink.

  8. Yes. A landowner can deny access to anyone for any reason at all, or for no reason. It's their land. Many landowners use PIOF as a criterion, in fact, because it's a good way to keep griefers out. Payment information is Linden Lab's best way to know who they are dealing with. Griefers know this, so they will register for an account under a phony name, come in world long enough to wreak havok or run a financial scam on residents, then leave without a trace. They often repeat the process over and over. Refusing to admit people who do not have payment information on file may be unfair to some honest residents, but it's a legitimate way for a landowner to protect himself and his customers from some of SL's rowdiest element. ETA: For the same reason, many landowners will deny access to anyone who has been in SL for less than 30 days. Griefers are often long gone by then, having either finished what they came to do or been caught and banned.
  9. Well, no. The owner may designate others who have managerial powers, so they can also eject or ban people. Also, the owner MAY tell you why you were banned, but doesn't have to tell you anything at all. The owners doesn't even have to HAVE a reason. It's the owner's land. He and his managers have the right to eject or ban anyone, without explanation.
  10. Lindal's told you all the right stuff about downloading the viewer. Give it a try. For the rest of your questions, see http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Second-Life-Quickstart/ta-p/1087919 and http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Second-Life-User-s-Guide/ta-p/1244857 . Welcome to Second Life! :smileyhappy:
  11. Hehehe... Even after five years of living with SL's jargon, I can't see "AFK" without seeing a dumb duck going "AFLACK!!!"
  12. I think the answer is implied in this Q&A note from Linden Lab, although it doesn't answer your question "Why?"...... I receive the error message "This transaction cannot be completed with your chosen payment method, please purcase L$ and reattempt your purchase." when I try to make a puchase using my Credit Card or PayPal account If you receive an error message when attempting to use your credit card or PayPal to make a Marketplace purchase, please attempt to make the purchase using Linden dollars (L$) as the payment method. To purchase additional Linden dollars to complete your purchase: On the upper-right of the page, click Buy L$ In the Linden Dollars (L$) box, enter the amount of Linden Dollars necessary to complete your purchase Click Place Order Return to the Marketplace and check out using Linden dollars as your method of payment. Obviously, some kinds of transactions give their accounting system cholic. Humor them.
  13. That's terrific, Aiko. Thank you for posting this in the JIRA as well.
  14. Bingo, Charolotte! But I still don't understand the OP's question "Is it good ....?"
  15. Nah.... I'm just really cautious about the community guidelines, so my own post was too telegraphic and not as helpful as yours. I didn't mean to poke at you, Marigold.
  16. It's possible to write a script that can do that, Charolotte. Quite easy, in fact. I was trying to avoid mentioning a specific product with my answer earlier. Conover's device is not the only one on the market by any means. I'd suggest that the OP check Marketplace and in world shops to see the range of features available.
  17. You'll have to open a support ticket and explain your situation. If you are a Premium member, I'd suggest using Live Chat, because that's faster. In either casse, they will probably ask you several questions to verify that you are who you claim to be.
  18. OK, I give up. Who or what is Lacey Physics? If you search on Google, you find a doctor at the Mayo clinic, a physics professor at Colgate, and another at Franklin & Marshall. I'm guessing that you don't want to wear any one of them, though. :smileytongue: Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT to tell us what you really mean.. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  19. You could write a script that would do that, but there is no other way. Of course, you can go to your dashboard at secondlife.com at any time to see which friends are logged on.
  21. OK, when you go to the JIRA site ( https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-29307? ) to add your comment, please be sure to include a description of your computer setup ... what make and model, what graphics card, what operating system (XP? Win 7? Vista? OS-X?) .... , and please also be sure to say which viewer you were using when it failed.

  23. Everything you want to know and more is right here >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Selling-in-the-Marketplace/ta-p/700193 , including a link to a very nice video tutorial.
  24. Yeah, it's refering to the keyframed motion, which is an animation, as far as you GPU is concerned. You can't interrupt a keyframed motion in progress. You have to either kill it or wait until it's done before using llSetPos. You can kill it with llSetKeyFramedMotion([],[]); ETA: You were faster than I was.
  25. You can't launch a complaint. An AR isn't appropriate because there's no TOS violation involved. Linden Lab will simply ignore it as a "dispute between residents." You can put a negative review on the merchant's Makterplace site, since you did buy the item, so that's a complaint of sorts. Be careful, though, because there may be many very good reasons why the merchant didn't respond.... 1. Merchant is on vacation. 2. Merchant is in the hospital. 3. Merchant has had a death in the family (maybe his own). 4. Merchant's computer has died. 5. Merchant's "in box" is capped because he already has 25 IMs, notecards, or other items in it. Yours is rejected automatically by the system. 6. [Your own perfectly good reason goes here....] You may submit a support ticket to Linden Lab as Val suggested, but they will only refund your L$ if it's clear that there was a system failure.
