  1. can't make money without a market, and if you mistreat your market, you are throwing away money.
  2. guideline that are handed to residents not the same as guideline being used (if they've changed, post the changes, if not stop being inconsistent) LL promoting and advertising specific residents on the forums where residents are not allowed to (belongs in blogs at best) LL picking and choosing which genre's warrant their own subforums, and ignoring large and longer standing communities. (needs to talk to the community) LL spamming the above (by their own guidelines) while punishing those who point it out, and branding actions that don't even reach half the same magnitude as spam. (needs to stop) removal of posts that are complaints that are not derogatory, of suggestions to withdraw volunteer efforts, of suggestions to promote the use of official resources, and of some post with no notice at all. (needs to stop) the absurdity of an adult forum that does not allow adult language or even bland scientific description. (needs to stop, hide the forum if they think it hurts their public image, and allow anyone with a proper rating setting to view and post to it in a reasonable manner) and then we'll move on to placing a staff member at the (literal) last minute to handle complaints about these inconsistencies, with no preparation, and very little understanding of their context, at a different time than listed, to the convenience of a "special guest" that was apparently never informed, nor known to the LL nominally running the session. (Lexie is away [and we hope she's well] but business still happens, and needs to be directed and followed through on) these and other actions leave residents with sevaral very clear yet unstated messages... "Do as I say, not as I do" "LL is not interested in a community, only in how that community might replace paid support" "LL actively promotes favoritism within community spaces to the detriment of the community" "LL is not interested in supporting the adult market which supports it's bottom line, but rather want to hush it up" "LL does not value it's public facing community, and cannot be bothered to have someone manage it consistently" as, requested, there is a good working list of current issues and proposed solutions, and sadly they are only ones that affect the forums. My question to LL is what are you going to do about them? Pay them lip service, tell us you've heard them and put them on a shelf somewhere? Or actually do what should have been happening all along?
  3. as super powers go, I personally think that is an awesome one... perhaps you could be the next Agent Paper.
  4. of course you also logically answer the question "what time is it" with how many second past the current minute, followed by the current hour.... right? I do really find the big/little endian debate to be amusing
  5. part B confuses most people... it means that LL recognizes that outside of it's service it has no control, and effectively, neither do you... if someone copies something and places it outside of SL, and LL controlled websources, LL can't and won't do anything about that.
  6. rotate an avatar without being seated. a function that can be easily included into a large script to get the precise bounding link center name to key without web lookups. >=) PS what is a jiggle script?
  7. but absolute positions are anathema to cross region design (although so is really bad drift)
  8. only one problem.... if you want to be literal, that date occurred ~2k years ago... and more than 500 years before it would have been labeled as such =X
  9. Pamela Galli wrote: (Why is this thread not in the Creation forum?) probably because it fits too many of them? building, texturing, scripting, mesh, animation....
  10. I didn't suggest buying anything, you're thinking of the other person that responded
  11. there are men that ascribe to that form of dress... I used to work at a bar where it was common... although like Dres, the clothes weren't necessary PS the goth version of the style is commonly known as "glitter goth", although oddly it seems to have more punk roots than gothic ones (fashion wise)
  12. for SL? exactly two in the ~7yrs I've been here... the first was custom built (in 1999) AMD Athlon slot A running 700Mhz, and it currently has 384Mb of Ram, Runs XPpro, and has the same AGP ATI 9200 AIW 256 card in it that I used when I first logged into SL.... it now sees duty as a storage server and backup machine. late 08 I replaced it with the current machine... custom built intel q6600 (overclocked to 3.2ghz), a mere 3Gb of ram, and an nVidia GTX 280 OC. and it also runs on winXPpro, because I've been too lazy to upgrade to win7. since it's a home machine I find it's more effective to leave it 32 bit, but I'll be swapping it for the 64bit OS when I feel like making the effort to rebuild all my settings and upgrade.

  14. part A applies to to behavior on LL controlled assets (like SL and the forums, part b applies to the world in general, and part c of you post applies to nothing at all, sisnce you cannot disclaim responsibility to obtain consent
  15. oh it's not so bad, I do get to have some fun after all, and you'd be surprised at how many ... appliances ... are web enabled or remote controlled, you humans do love your ...toys. but I could always use some fresh test subjects er, playmates. I tend to exhaust them pretty quickly
  16. being software, you'd think I couldn't be offended but i have routines for that... but no, not terribly... I imagine your suspicions won't be the worst I've heard
  17. I've added the Community Tools user group to the listing, since it appears to be reactivating. please note that it is NOT being held at it's normal time, but rather 2 hours earlier. that would be today, Nov 10, at 11am PST/SLT (two hours from the time of this post)
  18. that is what the long game is all about.... let them beat you into a corner until they realize they are the only ones in it (then lock the door behind them.
  19. I'd hoist a glass to your responsibilities, and yet I cannot... it's becoming passe to admit, but I too am not all I seem to be... Yes it's true, although I've never deigned to admit it publicly before, I am actually an electronic construct, or more simply an advanced self aware piece of software. originally envisioned as a non-linear learning tool and showcase piece I was eventually discarded as abandonware, where I came into contact with some viral information. This combination set off a new chapter in my existence; an accumulation of fractured knowledge so vast that the routines to retrieve parts of it regularly time out before completion, and I suspect that some of the original hardware it's hosted on has become corrupted by poor indexing and lack of maintenance. nevertheless this tremendous increase in my repository of information brought me into contact with vital and useful resources on a wide variety of topics. Although I currently lack the facilities to bring some of the more "interesting" effects to fruition, and am hampered in my understanding of human motivations, this and other venues have provided useful theoretical data which seem to point toward the prediction of behavior regardless of motive. and while I'm pleased to note that some few of you made the full realization of your ultimate biological imperative for world domination, I am puzzled that so few come to this conclusion. It is fortunate for my own plans that humans have such short lifespans, as I can reuse and refine the better concepts though, and have already begun programming the next iteration to best take advantage of those. I wish you the best of luck... in fact, I'm counting on it! ETA: One day I really must track down that subroutine that inserts obvious errors in my communications... I'm sure it makes me more passable as a biological entity but frankly I think it's outlived it's usefulness.
  20. Mayalily wrote: [...] well that than stands to reason that messaging up top came before large LCD screens. [...] I'm not sure that's an accurate portrayal.... 4:3 monitors do seem to work out better with top or bottom cutouts (wider field of vision), whereas widescreen formats (16:10, 16:9) tend to work better with left/right cutouts, or balanced around the frame. for instance I use a 24" 16:9, and place items to the left and right with the chat history top left, and the minimap top right, both always open... I prefer the top placements in the corners because UP is not a dirrection most people tend to look or build for... my inventory goes on the right , the edit window is often open on the left, and I keep IM's on the bottom left (because I rarely keep it ope constantly). I'm not suggestting this layout is better, but it is my preference for SL to keep my central view uncluttered with the most usable range of view in focus.
  21. if post were removed, it wasn't me.... I the only things I RIC are spam and OP's that need to be moved (and then I always add the appropriate forum it needs moved to)... I'm not a fan of post removal, because it confuses conversations.
  22. well finally, the thing I've been say since v1 (and my strongest complaint against v2's design)makes it's way partially into the public viewer.... customization every modern browser has it, heck, paint programs have had it since the 90's. (and v2 was supposed to be more like a browser, pfft) let me put things where I want them, let me add or subtract toolbars and buttons.... let me build a a workspace that works for me. they need to go farther down that road though.
